Well finally got banned, on my own terms this time. Time to move on, and I suggest anyone that would want to try DayZRP check out literally any other community because in reality it's dead.
Any suggestions? Dead ass all I want is like rp outside and pvpzones where I can just switch off my character and go back to the leaning ak dumping speg I was meant to be or at least somewhere that tolerates me role-playing my Australian ancestors, a drunken bandit shipped out to a foreign lands to cause chaos.
Loved the video, I played some about a year ago before I was banned since i logged out in the camp to help my daughter and when I came back on I though I would switch to another of my characters that was in the camp and was banned for prioritizing my irl stuff and being hostile with staff for voicing my opinion
Lost in the sauce is the only way to describe the amounts of weaponized autism someone has to acquire to buy one of those ranks. god I miss that $200 more than my dead parents like holy shit pog vid
Was playing on a Server called Refined RP, Built up a squad of roughly 10 guys that wanted to go to war with another big faction that was called Freedom which was full of admins ( A lot of players in that community hated them). Too make a long story short the admins and other players a part of said faction set us up with some double agent recruits so they could get info on what were were saying in our discord. Some of our members were more crude than others and liked to crack jokes about the members of the rival faction OOC. Which ended up getting the entire faction banned. Lmao
I was banned in 2016 or so after being a Loremaster, and honestly even if there was an amnesty wave I don't think I'd return because the server just really isn't doing anything unique. The rules were overwhelming so much so that you had to change your IC actions to fit OOC rules, which ruins it for me.
I think there is an even bigger problem with DayZRP, and DayZ in general. As someone from the 2013 squad, I can say the problems now were not present anywhere near as much back then. Specifically : "The people that just choose to mill about the capital city and complain there's a chance people will steal their precious stash". ^That right there is the problem 100%, nail on head mate. Lets call it the "key issue". But I think the issue is you assume this is a community issue, and not a map issue. Thing is, all the BS rules added to the game that you (and I) think are BS... came AFTER that key issue started. So what was it like before then? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DayZRP : Arma II mod experience -Several (like 6+ in a good month) well-developed, interesting settlements. Pubs, Depots, Medical centres, military outposts etc etc were round the map and well-populated -Travel : People actually had shit to do. They'd travel across the map, gather supplies, do trade routes etc etc -Bandits: Setting up roadblocks, preferring to roam the wastes (in between settlements) than attack them every day and genuinely were seen as a threat, but one people could tolerate and have a good time with. -Stories: Shit happened, even the "NPC" players did engaging and interesting stuff. Diplomacy, convoys, good RP that wasn't just sitting around all day. -Staff intervention: Sometimes staff would start a plague, and a scramble for antibiotics would lead to dashses to the local cities. Sometimes several settlements would be hit at once and hence a conflict due to needs for the medication happened (fierce RP and actual conflict raising from it). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So wtf happened? DayZ fucking standalone happened. But how? How could changing games break the community so much? One word, one word that has become a pariah in any DayZ community that is RP inclined, as suggesting it matters at all is the largest heresy : Loot DayZ Mods loot: -You could only find high end medical stuff in the shoreline cities -High end military stuff at the airfields (The average joe was lucky to have an Enfield or AK unless they went to the airfields). -Industrial supplies at like 3-4 specific areas of the map (The main 2 being cherno and berenzino) -Food and water was scattered, but scarce enough folk had to travel for a while to get stocked up, and most settlements had their own stocks. DayZ Standalone: -Medical huts everywhere make it easy to find even high end medical loot -Tents in cities and mili roadblocks made finding mid tier guns really easily -You can find wheels in tiny sheds in almost any town -On average, you can be okayly looted up within an hour of being a fresh, regardless of where you spawn. ^That system, is absolutely fucking busted. The old mod loot system forced players to travel to specific areas for specific needs. It meant people set up settlements based on those needs (Free Medic Damn was set up near NWAF because medical supplies were scarce in the NW for example). Trade routes formed that meant something, bandits had reasons to set up roadblocks specifically on roads between 2 prosperous towns, "NPC" characters had to actually travel around to get shit they needed. The example of the infection being put on players by staff? In DayZ Standalone it would just mean people rush to every medical hut within a 2km radius, as opposed to everyone B-Lining for the closest city with a hospital, and hence conflict brewing over supply vs demand. Due to the loot change, a fun potentially tension-filled encounter becomes a boring hour slog around all the villages and towns looking for loot and praying the random loot spawns did you good. The reason DayZRP worked was because EVERYONE had shit to do, no matter what playstyle. NPC, Diplomat, Hero, Bandit. Everyone had a role to play. But as you quite rightly put, most people that aren't combat inclined just twiddle their thumbs all day. And I still adamantly believe in this fact. This started when "hubs" became a thing. Where there was only one big settlement on Cherno at a time in DayZSA, as there was no reason to have multiple settlements as "the big hub is where the RP is". It led to boring, bloated cities that would be attacked by bandits as no one was travelling outside the city for bandits to hold up / fight. Bandits got bored, NPC's got bored, heroes got bored... and it just led to bandits "finding their own fun" and constantly attacking the "main hub". And why wouldn't they? Its where all the people were at! And it is that constant attacking, that wasn't bandit player's fault, that caused the implementation of all these BS rules. I genuinely believe we would of never got to this point if DayZ SA had used the same loot system as DayZ Mod, but refined it. Imagine areas of the map where farming was faster? Or more animals spawned? Where certain materials were easier to find, and hence people have a reason to go there. I miss the days when NWAF was the DANGER ZONE of "amazing rewards, very dangerous" as of course the bandits wanted to hold a monopoly on the good gear. I miss how berenzino was a sanctuary for the lost and broken, because of it being one of the 3 (yes only 3 ) towns you could find anything above a bandage in terms of medical supplies. I miss how there could be a shortage of supplies (Medical, food, ammo) that would lead to tension filled journeys across Chernarus, where you'd avoid wildlife, bandits, zombies all to get to a city you know your needs will be met, only to find other groups looking for the same stuff... and tension ensuing. I miss being part of hero groups who would respond to bandits who had set up a roadblock in the middle of a major trade route. I miss bandit groups who'd basically live in the NW and confiscate guns that were higher tear than a bolt action from "civies" to keep their status quo! Honestly? As sad as it sounds? I miss DayZRP. And I believe DayZRP died the moment we went from mod to standalone. This game now is not DayZRP, it is a cold dead husk of what it once was, but only because DayZSA took all the stuff from mod that worked, and butchered it.
@@MisterMunkie If you agree, please take this opinion back to DayZRP. I am no longer a part of that community, but I genuinely still care. And I wish we could get back to some semblance of the old days. And I genuinely think a loot rework is the way forward.
I’d say alot of it has to with the engine changes aswell. The game plays like a call of duty pvp game. Not a survival simulator. You can thank console appeasement for that. Fingers crossed on arma 4 bring the promised game we always dreamed of
I'm 2 years late but I think you'd like Arma 3 or Reforger roleplay. I've spent a lot of time playing RP games since I've been a kid. They're just time sinks, and you'll usually find that the guys who play most frequently are some of the saddest individuals you'll meet out there. They aren't "roleplaying" a character, they're playing out a fantasy. It's akin to people on VRChat, just hiding away from reality and sitting around in a virual social space where you aren't you, where you can pretend to be something more than you realistically are in the real world. PvP is the bane of that. You'll also find that these people will usually stick to their own little insider roleplay and don't like interacting with new people, awfully strange you can imagine. "Milsim" games that have a roleplay focus are the only experiences I've had where you can fight against other players whilst roleplaying.
This still holds up to this day except small FYI Rolland got off his ass and banned a bunch of people (me included) for shit posting on the forms or making post that don’t have to do with the community. I was personally banned because I sarcastically told a new person to escape the server while they could on the forums
I agree with basically everything you said Just I feel the reason a lot of servers go hard on pvp players is mainly cause a few of pvp player over due it and make it just weird like robbing every freshy for there shoes or just being a server problem Now I have no problem with bandit faction or even villains I think there important to rp just I think we all can agree some people over due it just a bit Anyways tho love the vid and I agree with what you said
Thanks for the video. I've been looking to get into RP servers for the EXACT reason that you mentioned most people do. Was looking into DayZRP, but wanted to see if it was going to be worth the 500-word paper I'd have to write to get to play. Tell me, wouldn't a better way to police bandits, etc., be to have people role play as...police? Was this part of the DayZRP experience? Side note: Is there any RP server out there for DayZ worth playing at the moment? Anything out there like No Pixel?
Hey there. Liked your video and how you were brutally honest. I used to play years ago, the server was really awesome back then. You mentioned around the eight minute mark how players were uncreative. Its because when you're creative, you have edgy jokes and forum banter, and the safe space crowd once taking control put an end to all that and banned loads of talented players and hostile Rpers. of course that caused other good members to leave because they're going to stick with they're friends and the groups they rolled with. As you said in another way, politics is a huge driving force, it gives that extra flavor whether you're a flash bandit or a more sociable type. But theres no politics anymore, its dull as dish water. Last time I played I walked into a town and people were just prancing about the campfire talking about absolutely nothing related to survival, not they're emotional state or struggles, nothing. Completely un-immersive. So I ask what groups are about, whats going on etc. And they couldn't tell me anything. The grand gang politics (as I call it) is gone, its over, they killed it, because everyone has to be winner. Now I can't say its all due to a cabal of staff. Because hundreds of staff have come and gone over the years. But definitely when you allow a certain sort of people take over and start unloading other people for wrong think, thus resulting in an exidos of key people in the community. And when done continually (through more rules, policies etc) you end up tailoring a community to the lowest common denominator.
My application has been denied 4 times because even though I stated my character was deployed with 1st Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment, they stated they need to know how he got there. Like what the fuck? Probably a military plane. They also denied it because I chose the name Daryl Nixon and it’s too close to Daryl Dixon? Who the fuck runs these shitty rules.
Good video man. I got banned I wanna say about a month ago after making Kyle Drippenhouse. Not saying it wasn’t deserved, however the behavior by certain community members and staff prior to my doing that was a mess. I miss the Chenarous timeframe.
Finally just got to this point lol. DayZRP has lost its sparkle. It’s no longer good roleplay, it’s stale friend groups that offer nothing to the story…
I quit after getting banned, cuz an staff member couldn’t handle getting killed. But now I’m looking for a new RP community and I’d like to know if you have one that you play actively on and one that you like. Thanks.
I have several things to say on this video, this is coming from someone who's a pretty hardcore rper. I think the soul idea of rp is to create a character and explore the world you are placed in without a set objective asides from that. So having a set goal like to go around and get into a PVP encounter isn't really an RP but with that being said servers that welcome and encourage PvP in my opinion shouldn't be classified as rp servers. I'd say I take rp relatively seriously so I make it very clear to anyone and everyone joining my server that the main focus is not PVP or Base building / raiding it is solely roleplaying. So I think yes u brought up a great many valid points, but I mainly comes down to how the server is advertised. The idea that if you're not willing to use a gun or pick up a gun why are you playing dayz rp doesn't really hold up to everyone. As you even said in the beginning everyone has their own wild and different varying ideas on what good RP is. Some people are a lot more hardcore and enjoy story driven characters and plots that are diverse and interconnected which is why so many people loved game of thrones not for the action before it's excellently crafted characters some people want to recapture that with their own characters and not need to worry about getting shot in the face immediately because someone stole intention is to ultimately end up killing. So really it comes down to the first point I made of there should be more specifically dedicated servers to people in the hardcore RP community and those who just are more laid back cuz I do understand wanting to just fuck around and lightly rp but I also understand the desire to actually create and character and story with the backbone not being killing
Sounds to me like PVE with a gimmick. And DayZ PVE is boring as fuck. Even I, as a freaking pacifist, can say that. Because without the potential threat of other players, I would have long given up on Dayz.

But how? How could changing games break the community so much?
One word, one word that has become a pariah in any DayZ community that is RP inclined, as suggesting it matters at all is the largest heresy :
Loot
DayZ Mods loot:
-You could only find high end medical stuff in the shoreline cities
-High end military stuff at the airfields (The average joe was lucky to have an Enfield or AK unless they went to the airfields).

Nobody replied, but did you find a good place to spend your time regardless? I'm looking also, thought I'd give RP a go.
Dayzrp and stalkerZ
it's easier to get a well payed job than to get whitelisted on that server
Damn man hope you’re doing well. Miss the old rp days though - Vito Moltisanti
Why did I just see this now, big clap
Why did you have to put your PVP clips over this video

Thank you. Definitely a few valid points stated here, although I find some of them disagreeable. I'm glad you said something!

Really is all im hearing is i want to pvp but i want to add story to my kos which sounds dumb
Exactly what I was thinking. Like just go play Escape from Cherno or down bad and pretend you're in a Nezar video brother.
Omg you're salty about RP servers not being about PVP jesus
