  • hello everyone. Happy new year.
I present to you my first upload of the year. In my opinion its one of the best videos I've made, mainly because I've learnt how to use proper editing software, however I plan to do more videos with 'live commentaries' so don't worry. Also I've brewed up lots of good video ideas so keep watch for more content this year.
Thanks for watching, please like and subscribe, and leave any questions in the comments.
    Bye for now!

There is no need to apologize for offending anybody. If someone does not feel comfortable with History, then they need to look again at life.

A very informative and nice made video.
I like the pics you present of your own repros.
    Thanks for sharing, young man!

I was issued the serge battledress jacket and trousers in the Aircadets. It was nice and thick and kept you warm.
I was disappointed when I joined the R.A.F. later and had the Thunderbird jacket and trousers. All done in mixed fibres and thin, at least I can say I wore the battledress whislt been in the Air Cadets.

Wore the post war version as an army cadet at school, it was awful, felt sorry for the guys that had to wear it into battle.

Good vid.....modern repros of ww2 battledress are cut in a way to look period but accommodate a modern mans measurements, whereas a period original tunic tends to be too small for the modern man.....a typical example of how a modern repro item is sometimes better than period original.

excellent video!. I want to recreate a British soldier from the third division, on D-day. What would be the model of jacket and pants that he should get?

For a late war impression, you need the austerity pattern battledress blouse and trousers, aswell as a collar less shirt

Be nice to compare to the canadian pattern side by side!

I don't own a Canadian pattern unfortunately but maybe in the future I will.

And yet the British army have gone back to using puttees - !

Apart from cost, why not use hill walking type gaiters - ! Prevents wee stones & grit getting in and helps to keep the boots cleaner. 🤔

Young man, sorry to tell you that that background music is veeery disturbing....at least for non nativ speakers.
Maybe only instrumental music would better fit.
Last time I saw the Video there was no music at All, I think.

Thanks for the feedback. The music has been there since I uploaded the video.

Was wondering if anyone was going to comment on the music. The mix was a bit hot, found it distracting.

If someone could answer this question.
Why in War movies, that certain non coms wore a leather type jacket / coat with the arms and sleeves, not there.
As to what is this affect ? And reasons ?

    • @willtheww2collector742
      @willtheww2collector742  ปีที่แล้ว +2

I think your referring to a leather jerkin. They were issued in the winter to keep soldiers warm, but offered greater maneuverability than a great coat.
