0:52 the mk 11 is more of a variant of the AR-10 than the AR-15, the AR-10 was made for us military competitions when the military announced they were switching from the 30.06 caliber to 7.62x51, the rifel failed although there may have been some bias, the springfield M14 won. (this ammo change is also the reason that the FN-FAL and later the SA-58 were created in 7.62x51) later on around the time viatnam was starting to ramp up the military changed the caliber from 7.62x51 to 5.56 and the AR-10 was essentially scaled down and named the AR-15 then changed for the military to the designation XM16E1 (these early versions did not have a foward assist)
