another problem is, they've had this league to themselves and could do whatever they wanted and turned it into a non-professional playground for immature Primadonna's. WNBA needs to get all the bullying, harassment, cheap shots out of the sport as they've done in many other sports

  • @robertrobinson1135
    @robertrobinson1135 วันที่ผ่านมา +41

The problem is the WNBA has spent so many years in the shadow that they’ve been able to get away being unprofessional without the vast majority of the public seeing it. We had warning signs early, with the league and players complaining about pay compared to their male counterparts. When the league was being subsidized by the NBA, and the players were making a larger portion of league “revenue” compared to NBA players. They built themselves a victim complex through all of that, and now that the league is in a position to break through and stand on its own two feet… They are clinging to the victim mentality! They are painting Caitlin Clark as a threat to the league instead of rallying behind the number 1 reason why their league has risen above obscurity. Caitlin Clark has been accused of damn near everything you could possibly throw at her, along with being made responsible for monitoring and condemning toxic behaviour by other people on the internet… She’s been called out for disrespecting basketball by refs who have allowed players to hack at her all season, and make no mistake the eye gouge in the playoffs could have ended her career! Literally could have blinded her in one eye and ended her career and drastically affected the rest of her life! And through all of this Caitlin Clark has time and again been the bigger person, has acted with a level of professionalism that the league cant even comprehend, because they have never before had to hold themselves to a higher standard. For Caitlin it’s always been about the game and love for the game, and the people running the league just don’t understand that as a concept. I think those same people are afraid that they’ll be replaced now that the league is breaking out, and they should be afraid, because the actions they are taking justify why they need to be replaced. Adam Silver should absolutely take over the league and replace the entire leagues front office with professionals, the sport deserves it, the fans deserve it, and the players deserve it even though they don’t act like they deserve it!

Journalists/reporters going directly to the source & asking question(s) that the public is already clearly speculating about. Why would that be a problem?! It allows the player to speak for themself vs. the reporter just making assumptions. That should be the bare minimum standard for journalists, otherwise they are just giving their own opinions/spreading gossiping.
DC likely could have lessened the heat on herself by saying something like: the hit was not intentional, she was making a play on the ball (which she did say), & she is glad CC’s eye is ok (which she didn’t say). Then she could redirect to basketball by saying the Fever played well the 2nd game & she is glad her team was able to work together to get the win & is moving forward in the playoffs. The question gave her the opportunity to address the incident & help relieve some of the scrutiny (though there will also be some trolls that remain). DC chose to answer as she did & that isn’t on the person who simply asked the questions that the public was already asking & wanted answers to.

I think you need to have a video about the fact that wnba is a charity league. The majority of the owners are not really interested. To build up professionalism you need effort and money.
Even when some of the owners are ready to invest in their franchises - the others are stopping it.
Maybe after this year - the NBA realises that there is potential in WNBA - but one have to remember - WMBA is a competing product to NBA. It is not really on the interest of the NBA (or even the women college BB teams) to have a popular WNBA overlapping the NBA (and college l) season.
These are fundamental problems - much more important then fights on twitter.
I think you could have a lot of stuff on this channel if you start reviewing these issues in dept!
A classic issue has always been in the wnba - why are they not popular (before CC). The only ones that seemed interested were NBA players! (Not a group of altruistic persons at large). The reason was that they seemed generally surprised that nothing was done.
This is also a thing for you to discuss.

Lots of things to deal with! Have fun - will continue checking in during wnba off season!

In addition, they have promoted physically reckless play - the narrative of physicality is their tagline. These foundations are fundamentally negative and unattractive to fans and a bright light has shined on these big negatives because of Clark. Now the WNBA’s survival depends on them completely reversing this set of foundations as they have been directly targeted at Clark and her fan base and if this is not checked, this golden chance for them to be what they said they wanted to be will be squandered.

Because they can't dunk, because they spend so much time on their asses after shooting or after flopping on the slightest touch, because of the high propensity to miss bunnies, the league touts the one facet it can -- "Physicality". They have sacrificed beautiful basketball play on the high alter of "physicality" which is to say "brutality". To shore up their intent the WNBA teaches their officials to promote it by allowing it. Be honest... How many viewers enjoy watching women beat each other up?... and fall on their asses, and miss bunnies and passes... For the most part I really enjoyed watching Caitlin Clark's style of play. Now with her out I won't be watching any more live beatings, I mean WNBA games, until next year. Those ladies are their own worst enemy. They’ve totally turned me off from watching them. And they’d probably say, “WE DONT WANT YOU WATCHING US ANYWAY”. Alright, don’t have to twist my arm. It’s embarrassing.

I'm done with the WNBA. Poverty political organization -- Basketball isn't their primary concern.

Amen. It's not just the players. It is endemic from the very top as well. There is no professionalism at any level.
What we see from ESPN is GARBAGE.

A league that allows players to show up with eyelashes and 3inches nails is not a real sports league. Also, the lack of consistency and strict rules on dangerous fouls is insane. Also player should not be allowed to speak rubbish publicly. All of the above needs to be regulated. I am done with this mockery of a game. Very sad since CC is such a great basketball player. And she is bringing such much money to a league and players that never deserved it. Let them go back to oblivion and to complaining about the lack of attention and recognition. I am done with this crap.

It's a league with an attitude problem and a victim mentality: "We are a "physical" league. We aren't appreciated. We don't get paid well. We are the victims of racism and homophobia and misogyny." They don't take responsibility for putting a product out there that people don't want to watch, and players and coaches' people don't want to listen to and support because they are demanding, negative whiners who don't accept responsibility for their shortcomings and don't want to do what it would take to put a more attractive product on the floor. Leadership at the league level is non-existent and, shockingly, ownership seems to be either checked out or complicit.
