I miss so much my knitting club. Yes, Hazel it wonderful to belong to a like minded group. So much fun and learning new things, old things, anything...lol. In the States we don't have that much anymore. My club gals are passed on to a higher realm. I so enjoyed your video.
Great video...but as a fellow Brit who has made a 'knitting machine tutorial video' myself (8 hours filming, 45 minute edit time), I have to ask...where did that dropped stitch disappear to in the 'here's one I made earlier' result of the neckband? ;) lol I was so relieved when I saw that...it means all of us experience the same frustrations from time to time, and it's not just me it happened to! :) I'll definitely be looking at some some more cut and sew garments after watching this video...you have inspired me! Thanks :) Just wish there were more clubs!
Is there any reason you can’t machine knit a big rectangle of fabric and then use this method (or an overlocker) to cut out pieces for a sewing pattern? I’ve just ordered my first ever knitting machine and there’s obviously a large learning curve so I expect to mostly be doing rectangles for a while. Thought cutting out pieces might give me some nicer garments as I learn. There’s only so many scarves a girl who never wears a scarf needs you know 😂
I spent my working life in the 'trade', and most knitwear is made 'cut and sew'. The only difference is the pieces are overlocked together. If you buy some basic sewing patterns for stretch fabrics, copy the tissue pieces onto card in your size (that is your block) and then knit your blanks so that the pattern will fit within the knitted fabric after it has been washed and steamed lightly. You can then use your block to make any shaped neckline, sleeve shapes and widths, length of body, etc. If you have a home overlocker it will make things a lot easier.

Thank you for demonstrating so clearly how to do the 'cut and sew' technique. kindest regards
Thank you so much for explaining so clearly!
Wow that's looks Great Thanks for Sharing Your Knowledge!!
Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed the video.
Excellent video! I feel very confident about trying this technique now. I appreciate you so much.
Very useful thank you very much.
Thank you! I'll have a go at this now I've seen it done. It doesn't seem so scary now. 😃
Thank you for posting this!
That was different. Never heard of doing this before.
Great job, thanks so much
Gracias exelente aporte.
Brilliant!
Hazel ,what a brilliant explanation........you dont advocate killing the yarn inside your v then?
Thank you. I haven't killed the yarn inside the V but I suppose you could. I find the zig zag holds the stitches well.
A roller foot would make it easier to go over the knitted fabric. I love watching the video!
Rose Barrette out a walking foot, buy Hazel's machine coped better than mine does with the standard foot.

Wat is wrapsteek
The video did not answer how to convert hand knitting to machine knitting. what is the magic formula?
You have to do swatches on your knitting machine to see which is closest to the handknitting specs. No easy way.
The ‘ machin sound’ from your camera is so bad.
