GPAA Claim: Red Cloud in Riverside County CA

To become a member of GPAA visit gpaastore.com - A group of members in the Gold Prospectors Association of America met up at the 120 acre Red Cloud claim in Riverside County, CA. With a focus on metal detecting, it turned out to be more of an educational day than a gold gettin' day, but there is plenty of gold-bearing land to explore for future prospecting trips. I was actually there that day on the other side of the Hill I didn't have a metal detector I was classifying dry panning and borrowing someone's slush box who's also part of the GPAA group. We found gold.. my new friend actually was using a metal detector and he found a little nugget the size of an pencil eraser... I was digging in some tailings of old Prospectors.. And yes that white car was mine by the tree😂

The geology is partly plutonic with metamorphic gneiss, shale and up-lifted terrain. This seems to make metal detecting more difficult.
Ran into a fair bit of very small metal shards that I believe was flak used in training fighter pilots for evasion. Which means just scrape off the top layer and look underneath. No signal - move on. We had a low flying fighter come through while we were there. Very cool.
The goal is to begin sampling until I've got a reasonable idea of where to go. Been here a few times and it's a toughy to get to. Especially on the last 600 yards. The first 6 miles is fine for any vehicle.
