I have some Focal Kx2 3 way's installed active in my truck about a year and a half ago. I absolutely love them, they take everything I throw at them. I was coming from some Focal Polyglass 2 ways and am nothing short of impressed. I think I would have went with the K2M if they had been out just because they are newer and look so cool. I think the only thing I would ever upgrade to is some Utopia 8" midbass and Utopia tweeters. I am Focal guy for life.
I know that the flax series is not the top tier, but I heard a 3 way fully active with the flax. It's absolutely stunning.
Flax is in my opinion more pleasant to listen to than the K2 line. I sell much more flax in my store than K2, that being said I’ve never heard the utopia line. Someday I wish to, or perhaps install it in my own car to demo.
@jaydawg116
I have brand new K2 in the box. After hearing the flax I am not going to open the k2. I may take a small loss to step up to big sound.....or at least better sound to my ears.
@@drrckhamiltonwell, sir, it’s definitely a wonderful speaker. Different timbre, and works well for a different kind of listener- I’d say that the KX2s are much more “snappy” for those that want a more aggressive sound, whereas the flax is warmer midbass and is a more relaxed listening experience. Closer to a morel in warm midbass, but much MUCH more sensitive. It’s all up to you, the listener, to decide what you want, but I’d definitely say hold on to them for a car/ setup/ whatever you want to do with them that you’d want a more “screaming loud yet exceptionally clear” experience, which in my opinion the flax evo series can’t reproduce.
Yes I’m a shill for everything Focal/Mosconi/Gladen, and I’m fine with that. I’m an enthusiast that loves the experience of listening, as well as the engineering that backs it. :)
@jaydawg116
My only concern is that I purchased the 2 way, but I plan to go 3 way because I have a 6 channel dsp amplifier
@@drrckhamiltonoh okay! Are you planning on doing just a 3 way front stage without rear fill? A 6 channel dsp amp will do front and rear if you want to do an active front stage on a two way with also having the last two channels for a rear coaxial/midbass fill. Of course you can use that amp with probably dsp low level output to another slave amplifier for rear fill too-
Can I ask, what do you have?? I can better point you in the right direction. And are you okay with purchasing more “stuff”
Also if you’re in a coupe without a rear speaker option.
I guess I should really ask “what are you shooting for?”
Hello great videos
I would like to replace my Hk speakers in a Mercedes
FOCAL Focal ES 165 KX2 or audison APK 165 Ohm2 or
infinity kappa 603cf
How do this speakers compare to each other and will they come a big difference over the HK speakers thank you
Which is better focal kx2 o focal kx3 ?
Any plans to make new video on Morel products?
Morel is scheduled for later in the year November time during Audiophile sessions...
@@CMANetworks 👍🙂
WILL I NEED PASSIVE CROSSOVERS FOR THE 6.5 UTOPIA M SPEAKERS?
if you are doing those i would go active and run a DSP
@@1wrexx THANKS
@@1wrexx Alot of people still think a passive crossover is fine, which may be the case with very cheap speakers that you just want to replace with shittier OEM speakers. DSP active tuning is literally 50% of the sound quality of a car audio system.
