I’m 71 years old fish mainly for walleye. I fish Lake Erie as well as inland lakes in Ohio and Pa. I consider myself a average walleye fisherman. But watching your videos has definitely made me a better fisherman. Just had a fantastic day on Piedmont Lake in Ohio using some of your methods. Thanks.
Thanks Tom, great video. I have been fishing the Lindy Rig for a very long time and I agree it is still one of the most effective ways to fish for walleye. Keeping it simple, and basic will catch walleyes when nothing else will. Guys who don't use this method are missing out on some great fishing, especially when the fish seem to be fussy or uninterested in other presentations. It's a 'go-to' method when all other methods or techniques are not working. Thanks again for sharing those details with us.
Thanks for all your work your video’s are helping me become a much better walleye fisherman only been fishing for walleye for three years keep up the good work
i was just lindy rigging yesterday. I prefer to use the lindy no snag weights and have a clevis so I can change the weight size without re tying it. I drift troll if the wind direction is right, I will also anchor, cast out and sit. Its also my go to first choice set up for shore fishing
I've recently been using Lindy Slick Sticks for weights rather than bullet weights or traditional bottom bouncers when I'm fishing Ontario/Northern MN lakes that are a lot of jagged granite and sharp boulders. They seem to get stuck less than either of them and they pull out a lot easier as well. I snag a little less often but I haven't lost one to the rocks yet.
Missed you guys!! Great video on spinner fishing during the midsummer, there's some really good tips you showed especially the purple colors and the slow death hooks and the smile blades. Thanks
I recommend the rp knot (or improved Albright) for braid connections, especially to the mono backing. Not as easy to tie while on the water as the uni knot, but a nice slim profile that doesn’t get stuck in the guides as easy.
Wonder if you can show us proper walleye handling. Where to put year fingers. And hands. Scared to get bitten . or cut on sharp gills or poky fin. Thank you sir.
I caught a few with this technique today. Except I gut hooked a little one and foul hooked the other two. I also missed a few. Think I need to work on my hookset timing more. I was using worms pinched off the tail. Hmmm, I also caught a few with a drop shot rig. Those were very satisfying hook sets. They sure thump that thing. So much fun. No keeper's, though. Then the bite shut down at 10:30am. Water temp was 55. Just realized I was nose hooking the worms. I'll try threading it on further next time as well.
Awesome fish Tom! I would be really interested in a video on how you organize your waypoints on your humminbirds are you throwing down 25-50 WP's per trip and going back and deleting them or do you have a system for keeping the good ones and erasing the ones that are only relevant for that trip?
I use a worm blower. They sell a decent one at Wal-Mart. Looks like a eye dropper bottle and has a needle on the end. A lot easier than a hypodermic needle.
Another great video! In fact your getting better every time! Why no bead between the sinker and swivel? Just curious, as I always thought that was necessary to keep from damaging the knot...
@Tom I've seen guys pinch the crawler so they don't get bit short. Why do you run the full length of the crawler and how do you NOT get bit short with it being that long? Thanks.
I can't say I've ever set the hook with the bail open, however I can say that I've tried to cast with the bail closed....and threw several crankbaits and spoons right off my knot 🤣😭
Do you let line out every time, I'm a hit confused as in that presentation due to when the fish bites the bait is moving and as soon as the fish bites your suggesting go let everything loose. It seems to be effective but wouldnt your bait immediately drop especially if it's a short striking fish. This is assuming the bait is in the fish mouth?
fish don't squirm much, i guess they must know you by now, hey its tom boley, hey everyone on youtube (thinking hes going to put me back anyhow, im safe!) LOL
love the vids and bought a helix just need to catch something now. Did you lose/break your i-pilot remote, see you using your phone for control. keep them coming
I really appreciate your style and content Tom. Most informative and enjoyable one that I've found. Are those Simms Pro-dry pants, and are they durable to wear on an everyday basis? I don't have the pants, and wondering if they take a beating well.
Definitely. We fish between 35-40 feet sometimes on lake Mille lacs mud flats with 3/4 oz sinkers no problem. If you fish a river with lots of current it would be more difficult!
You should not be catching walleye from 50' unless your going to keep every one. They will die if hauled up form 50'. Even from 40' it's not good to be releasing walleye.
@@wiscofun3028 you are right on that point. When I realize that it's a small fish I try to bring him slowly and hope to net it before the resident musky spots it.

I'm now referring to you as Mr. Walley - Love your tips, the way you simplify and break it down. To say nothing of the way you set the hook.
Crazy how much walleye fishing has changed since this video was made
Something simple I’ve been doing my whole life but still learn a lot when I watch tombo do it.
Monday Morning Rigging, now THATS the way to start the week!
Thanks for all your work your video’s are helping me become a much better walleye fisherman only been fishing for walleye for three years keep up the good work
You are the Man. Thank you for sharing your knowledge ...
Man I love how the Piscifun reel sings when you are hauling one in!!
Great lindy tips Tom! Thanks again.

I definitely will try this method, also I have few baitrunner reels, they should be perfect for hard hit or hookup with secondary drag sistem.
Need a shirt that says “ beautiful, Northern Wisconsin Walleye” 🤣
Yea he says that a million times a video
I can hear this comment
That and Hooked Up! A Tom Boley Hook'd Up shirt would be awesome
Norther Wisconsin Walleye ™
Southwest Virginia 80° tops....come show us some mountain reservoir fishing here in the blue ridge...NO RAGRETS

Thanks Tom finally got a bigger one doing this ;) biggest I've caught thanks for the tips buddy

I should have tried the Lindy rigging this past weekend. Good tip on the hook removal.

Most informative videos I’ve seen. Well done .

Awesome video love lindy rigging your a great teacher
need a shirt that says "Hooked UP" " Fish ON" Great advice on the lindy rig
If you had your own TV series I would watch it religiously, even erase my wife’s shows to make room on the DVR
Love your videos!! Keep it up
Tom could you do a rod use table based on method of presentation jigging, rigging, trolling, snapping etc.
Do you ever use a cork float to get the bait up off bottom a little? Or a worm blower?
Started doing that, works very well.
Was wondering same, I use a hypodermic needle, tiny needle, works awesome

Great video 👍,
When would you use this presentation vs a bottom bouncer?
Right!
Great video very informative keep them videos going
Have you used or noticed a slow death hook being more effective at all when Lindy rigging??
Tom boley..
A modern day Al Linder
Another great video! In fact your getting better every time! Why no bead between the sinker and swivel? Just curious, as I always thought that was necessary to keep from damaging the knot...

i'd like to also see something on fishing with hyper rattle? Maybe it's on your list.
I'm diffantly trying this out
why lindy rig and not bottom bouncer with crawler harness or spinner? whats the pros and cons
Great educational video. What lake in Northern WI?
I can't say I've ever set the hook with the bail open, however I can say that I've tried to cast with the bail closed....and threw several crankbaits and spoons right off my knot 🤣😭
Have you ever fished Lake Gogebic in Northern Michigan?
How do you fish for walleye if you didn't have side imaging?
Love the channel Tom. Question about a Lindy Rig VS Pulling Spinners. When do you differentiate one or the other?
Nice video
I have been looking at boats and like your setup mostly what brand is it

great vid, one of my all time fave ways to fish the wallygators, did you lose your minnkota remote or???
Also need a shirt that says "Find 'em, catch 'em!"
What color braid do you usually run?
Tom do you ever use a drift sock when doing this presentation. Or is it just too much work and rather use the wind and trolling motor?
fish don't squirm much, i guess they must know you by now, hey its tom boley, hey everyone on youtube (thinking hes going to put me back anyhow, im safe!) LOL
Are u back trolling?
Got that crawler right in the "ruff" of the mouth lol
Can you apply this when river fishing?
Take a syringe and blow some air into your crawlers to make them float and not sink down.
love the vids and bought a helix just need to catch something now. Did you lose/break your i-pilot remote, see you using your phone for control. keep them coming
Good tips but why in every video is his reel so loud is there an issue with the drag?
If you use braid, that's what it sounds like on almost all reels. It's the line being wound up and going through the eyes.
Tom have you considered posting on Rumble as well? Way too many commensals on youtube!
Do you ever charter people?
No
What a headache that would be..yikes
I really appreciate your style and content Tom. Most informative and enjoyable one that I've found. Are those Simms Pro-dry pants, and are they durable to wear on an everyday basis? I don't have the pants, and wondering if they take a beating well.
Hey Tom I watch a lot of ur videos I need help setting up my helix 5 it's not showing structure
Felix 5
Oops wrong question answered.... lol 😆
Fishing northern MN in September, would this work in mid September
@@gregcampbell3064 October blast and cast days are the stuff dreams are made of!
Thanks for the tip Greg
Does anybody ever have trouble with pesky catfish while using this technique?
Just curious.
How many times did he say right? Only after EVERY SENTENCE!!! Right !
you should really consider investing in some rod holders
Could you fish this way in 50'

Loudest reel ever lol. Must be running braid.
I don’t know why you tolerate working around all of those rod holders. Snagging your line, net etc..
No shit... if I saw this guy on the lake by himself with all that junk sticking up, I’d think this guy is nuts!
plyus
I hate the sound of braid running across the eyes of a fishing rod
I really hope youtube is paying you for your time will all the irritating adds!!! Every two minutes makes it hard to watch the video!!
That reel sounds like shit. Is that some Chineseium make?
Almost all reels make that sound when using braided line. It's the line making the noise.
