Black Opium,La Vie est Belle and Hypnotic Poison for example smell horrible on me, but when I smell them on others I literally swoon. I can't wear any of Narciso Rodriguez either, but I literally followed around a lady in the supermarket to ask her what she was wearing and it was Narciso Rodriguez. 🤦♀️Angel smells like dirt on me, but it's my daughter's favorite perfume and I love it on her.
OMG this is EXACTLY what happens to me!! Every single perfumes you mentioned have the same effect on my skin, they just don't work. Do you have any perfumes recommendation? I think they would work on me 😊 anyway, I love crystal noir, omnia coral, the only one intense, angel nova, pure poison, pure grace, and pure xs 🥰
it's pretty normal. a colleague once loved one of my office frags so much, she bought a bottle for herself. a month later she handed me the bottle saying it just didn't smell the same on her. body chemistry matters. and there is of course the fact that the notes that hit you from close up because they're right on your own skin hit you different than the molecules that hit you after being defused by traveling through the air from somebody else to you. that's why it's always good to try and get a tester enough for two to three 'test-drives' before making an actual purchase.
I feel like people just love to hate fragrances like Black Opium or La Vie Est Belle, even though they’re actually really good. Mainstream-yes but they’re far from being bad smelling. If we remember couple years ago everyone was hyping up BR540, but slowly people have started talking bad about it because it got too popular. Black Opium and LVEB were once loved by everyone, that’s just a fact.
Definitely agree! It’s like when the vast majority liked Black Opium or LVEB, everyone & their mama swore by it. Yet as soon as it was referred to as “basic”, everyone wanted to piggyback off of that and follow the “hate” trend. And this is way I’m a bit disappointed with this list, because I was expecting fragrances that receive hate based off of their notes or scent accord.
Aura is beautiful! I will say it did give me pause when I first tried it but I gave it a chance and I’m so glad I did 🙌🏽I have the edt and edp plus the body cream. I like to mix the Alien body cream with Aura body cream. Many compliments.
These are all super strong fragrances, especially if oversprayed. I am wondering if people are saying they don’t like because they’ve smelled it on a person that seemed like they took a bath in it. I like and own several of these, but if any of them are oversprayed, they have the ability to polarize anyone.
Fragrance preference is very a subjective matters and some people love the particular perfume some people hate it. However, all of them are a masterpiece of perfumery.
I wore Angel for 15+ years and would be complemented often. I have been on a fragrance journey the past few years & now have an extensive perfume collection with some very nice niche fragrance including BR 540, Delina Ex, Intense Cafe, Atomic Rose ETC.... I rarely reach for Angel anymore but when I do it is the only time my husband complements how I smell. It's interesting how strongly sent & memory are tied together.
OMG I'm totally with you on Angel! On me it smells like warm and yummy pralines/cocoa with sweet patchouli and a touch of flowers, I don't wear it often because it's super potent (even though my skin soaks up perfume like crazy!), but when I do, I always get compliments from women mainly (and some men) who think I smell like hot chocolate and spices! However, on a coworker it can go either way; sweet and spicy or sour and overly musky!
I love Gucci’s Memoir. Very comforting and camomile is amazing in this scent. Yes, it is not a perfume profile you’d expect from a designer house in 21st century, but it is an artwork. Being a niche snob I really appreciate this perfume. I think it would be really appropriate in the boutique collection (where they have the Voice of the Snake perfume).
I first purchased Memoire a year ago and totally thought it was an old lady fragrance and put it on my vanity as decoration LOL. Recently I pulled it back out to use it again and I don't know if my nose has just matured over the last year but I find it absolutely beautiful now. I agree, such a comforting, calming scent!
I agree. Very unique. I smelled it and became obsessed. I asked my husband whether he liked it or not, because I know this perfume is so polarising and wouldn't like to wear it if he hated it or even worse was disgusted by it. Surprisingly, he really liked it. He is not very good at describing perfumes, but he said it is an every day non-offensive calm kind of smell, perfect for a walk or something casual. Not everyday you want to feel like a sexy kitten. Surprisingly, it starts smell vanilla when dries up, and again, it is the most subtle vanilla I ever smelled.
Everyone's different and everyone likes different things, I wouldn't call all those scents bad at all. Angel and Kenzo Elephant are my most potent and most complemented perfumes ❤
I still wear Angel today. I’ve been wearing it since 1992 and I’m 57 now…. Not everybody can wear Angel you can either pull it off or you can’t. I’m just glad that I can it’s my number one.
Hi Paulina, I like your videos very much as usual. Since we are talking about him let’s just spare a thought for Thierry Mugler who passed away last Sunday. Like him or not he was very talented and original like his perfumes.
She was clearly talking about his perfumes and not him as a person. And maybe she did this video before he passed? I don’t know, but I didn’t think she was talking bad about the man, just the perfumes associated with his brand.

I was surprised to see La Petite Robe Noire. It’s a beautiful lighter fragrance. It’ll always be a classic. I’m also surprised Black Opium was there….wow.
It must be the sour cherry but to me La Petite Robe Noir smells very sour, sometimes it reminds me of cough syrup or something of the sort. But many friends love it on me, so it's just my nose acting up here haha. Very subjective like with all perfumes
I was surprised too Petite Robe Noir is my favourite perfume, it smells warm and sweet on me and I can smell the warm coffee notes, I've had lots of strangers ask what I'm wearing and say it's beautiful and commented it smells really expensive 😍
Hah! I guess most people hate my taste in perfumes! 😂🤣😂 I have Alien, Aura, Good Girl, Shalimar, Jungle L’Elephant & Black Opium Extreme. They are some of my most loved scents. I also love La Vie Est Belle, but don’t have a bottle of it at the moment.
I absolutely adore Angel and Alien by Mugler. Alien is a summertime favorite, Angel is my winter baby. And it seems to be not watered down👌 Portrait of a lady is just a masterpiece. It is my favorite fragrance in the entire world !!!❤️❤️❤️ I also like Gucci Memoire. To me it smells like a chamomile baby cream, it's soft and relaxing 👍

I think "hate" is a too strong word in many cases. Most fragrances in your list I would not use nor like to smell them on others but "hate" to me means it literally makes me want to throw up. This happened to me only with very few rather "extreme" niche scents. LVEB, Black Opium etc are designed to be mass-pleasing fragrances so it also must have to do with associations we have with these type of fragrances when we put them in a "hate" category. I like this video because it is helpful to know which fragrances are polarizing and might be really hated by others. There are so many reasons to not like a fragrance - you dislike a certain note in general, you have bad memory associations, etc. Some turn from love to hate and the other way around. This is what makes this hobby so fascinating. Thanks for the video, Paulina! (Btw: I was surprised about Memoire d'une odeur. I would not wear it but I see what Alberto Morrilas vision apparently was and I appreciate the uniqueness)
Big kenzo jungle fan, i even have back ups but i agree its very strong. Its so warm and comforting. Most of those fragrances were loved, overbought, overworn

I love alien, the new and old formula, I was about to declutter the new formula bottle but I fell back in love with it. I like black opium but it’s there like a big oppressive cloud whenever I go to sephora to test other fragrances. 😂 I also only smell playdough whenever I test hypnotic poison and I hate it bc it sounds so good when everyone talks about it.
I Hate Angel as well, with a passion! All I get is patchouli. To me it's a mess, and I don't get how people say it's well blended. I thought I would hate Alien as well, but I truely love it. I like Black Opium sometimes on me. and hypnotic poison, well, haven't got the chance to smell it yet. I would love the smell of playdough though. XD edit: I don't think Angel formula changed really. Tried it in the 90s, the 2000s and a year ago. Still heavy.
The first time I smelled Angel I was so mad! I thought I bought a fake. Went to Dillard’s to get a sample. Nope, sure enough Angel is the weirdest perfume I’ve ever smelled - and I smelled a few “odd” perfumes in my days 😆
Is ok not to like a perfume, fragrance is subjective, but when it comes to a classic like a No 5, you gotta give it its respect. I'm 28 and No 5 has been my favourite for years, it smells like expensive vanilla champagne to me, not sure how u smell cat piss 😂 it goes to show fragrance is very subjective. Fun fact: my work colleague kept saying No 5 is horrible, I wore it one day and she asked what perfume I'm wearing it smells amazing 😂 I told her is No 5 n she didn't believe until I brought it to work the next day 😂 body chemistry is also very important, that's why you like it in the bottle but not on you.
Hahaha this video hurts as a Black Opium lover, but as I personally hate Alien, Chanel No.5 and Angel, I fully understand and respect the haters 😝. PS: In Germany, Black Opium is suuuuper affordable: A 150ml bottle costs about 85€ when it’s on sale and I bought the Black Opium Extreme 90ml bottle just a few months after it came out for 68€.

I don’t think people should get hate for not liking a fragrance - classic or otherwise. I know tons of people love Light Blue and I get it. I found it beautiful on paper! But the moment it hit my skin, I turned it to strong bathroom cleaner. I also adore Burberry Her on paper. Unfortunately, my skin turns the berries to cough syrup. We can’t help what our body chemistry does to a fragrance. And my guess is that we don’t have much control over our scent associations either. I can see why Mugler and Tom Ford were in here, very polarizing. I personally love all Muglers. I do think a majority of the rest of them were on the list because people are so sick of smelling them. That’s at least how I feel about a lot of these perfumes.

Loved this video! Fragrances are so subjective and it just goes to show how big of a role personal preferences and body chemistry play! I personally like some of these and on the other hand, 100% agree with how terrible some of the others on this list are. But I was especially screaming YESSSSS at the end when Burberry Body came up. I barely ever hear it get mentioned but I remember my visceral reaction when it first came out. The sour note gives it a distinct body odor vibe to my nose. Definitely not something I ever want to smell.
I think YSL black opium smells amazing! I wore it from store sample last week and I got more compliments than I ever have lol even had a lady follow me around the store just to ask me what is was
I honestly cannot understand how someone doesn’t like back opium. I feel like it’s such a crowd pleasing fragrance. I think people just jump on a hate train not even having smelled the fragrance.
I love how extremely subjective fragrances are! It makes it fun to me to discuss what intrigues and disgusts us. When I first smelled Angel I though what the $&@! Is this?!? But as time went on I thought it reminded me of 90s grunge. Kinda like a wet carpet but also nostalgic. Some days I wear Angel based on my outfit. Reminds me of something Debbie Thornberry would wear. Also, TF Black Orchid… a friend bought me the travel size (glad he didn’t go big) because I CAN NOT take it. But I think it would smell great on a man. 🤷🏽♀️
Gucci Memoire D'une Odeur is not everybody cup of tea, I get it. For me is wonderful, it smells like clean linnen, field full of blooming camomile and childhood. I do love it for late spring
Black opium will forever have a special place in my heart. It was the fragrance that was comfortable enough to take me by the hand and introduce me to the fragrance world.
I can usually appreciate every scent and I don't dislike many perfumes, but the one that I got a strong, negative reaction (I vomited) from was Libre YSL.
angel has been my signature perfume for 15+ years and has gone through quite a few minor-moderate reformulations but since mugler sold out to loreal it's been completely ruined. all you get from angel now is a sharp screechy artificial patchouli and burnt plastic notes that lasts for around 2 hours at most. loreal have completely decimated everything mugler was as a perfume house with terrible reformations and lacklustre mass appealing new releases. it's such a shame.
Yes! The original Angel is beautiful from beginning to end, I can't stand the new version, get a headache from it. I now need to buy dupes to get the old scent.
@@hummelleben8470 honestly i’ve been bankrupting myself buying every pre-loreal bottle i see online lol but i just can’t be without. the trick is to look for bottles/boxes branded ‘thierry mugler’ rather than just ‘mugler’ then you know you’re getting an older formulation :) i find angel muse to be very nice also and it reminds me of og angel in many ways! loreal discontinued it but its still pretty easy to find online and you can rest assured that it hasn’t been ruined by their crap reformulations x

I agree, Black Opium is so overhyped and not a dry down profile I enjoy. It's just...not sophisticated, not interesting. I must say though..one of my all times favorites and always will be are Baccarat Rouge and Baccarat Extrait, and I know the Baccarat fragrances are very hyped and have been for a long time...can't help it. Two of the few perfumes that I fell head over heels in love with

None of these fragrances are 'bad'. They have been popular for a reason. But I will admit that some of them are a bit polarizing or already starting to get a bit dated to some noses. At the end of the day though, people should wear whatever they want. For almost all of those fragrances, I know someone who absolutely rocks them on a daily. But there are also some that got reformulated and are but a weak echo of what they used to be when originally released (looking at you, Black Opium).
I love this! One of my favorites is the super intense estee lauder cinnabar but I think most people hate that one 🤣 Either way it’s such a fun conversation!
Chemistry is everything! My stepmother wore estee lauder Youth Dew. It smelled amazing on her. When I wore it people literally recoiled from me. I smelled like a combo of bleach and instance. It was just awful. First of all, I was too young to wear youth dew. It's not a young girls scent, despite the name. As I came into my own, I found my signature scent. It took me 45 years!😄 I won't say what it is because it's generally hated but on my skin it just works!
I agree with you on these! La Vie Est Belle doesn't work for me, the patchouli is intense on me. But also that, like you said, everyone is wearing it makes it uninteresting to me.
I love Youth Dew. My grandmother used to wear it when we went to visit her and she would go out to dinner with my parents. She never doused herself in it though. I like wearing it when I'm having a cosy day at home because it makes me feel warm and loved and safe.
i think gucci memoire is absolutely a beautiful scent. I don't think its crowd pleasing, so i get why people hate it. I personally wouldn't want to smell like it, but I like to believe legolas from LOTR would wear it, its very elvish and magical in my opinion.
Kenzo Jungle is a special fragrance. It could be a niche fragrance and it has a great performance. It's between a big love or hate! The same as Shalimar and Chanel No 5

At first I was thinking I did not like it but then I kept going back to it trying it on and smelling it to see if I can find what it is that people love about it & get my brain around the many notes. And I did!! Yes, suddenly it changed for me after 3 or 4 days of wearing it, like magic. It suddenly morphed into the smoothest pillowy mystical magical creamy berry scent with sweet patchouli. I am as shocked as you. Haha
I was disappointed in YSL Black opium. I finally drop the coins and bought it this year. But like you said it doesn’t last long especially for the price. That and the dry down on me smells like Red Raspberries.
I am shocked, on me La Petite Robe Noir smells like cherry....I also like the licorice in original Lolita Lempicka. I am even more shook to the masterpiece original TRESOR and I recently discovered beautiful and more contenporary Tresor In Love :) LVEB can be annoying ...I can only bare The Intensement version as it is the least cloying/cheap smelling...BO is pleasant but boring AF ;)
Good list... think you're onto something here. Of the 15 here that I've tried, I really like Alien, and Good Girl is okay (not a scrubber) But I dislike all the rest. Maybe add some hideous scrubbers like Coco mademoiselle, Not a Perfume, Dolce & Gabbana The One, Mon Guerlain, Baccarat Rouge 540, etc. These run the gamut of giving me headaches, making me nauseous, and mostly having notes that screeched on my skin from start to finish. And Delina... pretty in the air and nothing but sour screaming rhubarb on my skin. Oh dear. I'm probably going to upset someone. But these fragrances are huge No's for me.
My #1 hated perfume is Poison. A friend of mine used to hose herself down with it. Barf city! Especially in the car! I used to have to roll down the window and almost hang my head out, like a dog.
La Vie est Belle is one of my top faves, and that’s saying a lot because I’m not a gourmand fan. I never understand why people hate it so much lol. Black Opium, on the other hand, is vile.
*Aura* by Mugler is one of the most beautiful, sophisticated and powerful scents. Yes, it can be polarising however, it takes a certain type of nose to appreciate the magic of this poisonous juice. On the one hand I agree it's a personal preference but Thierry Mugler (the man himself & as the brand was formally called) was a magician when it came to creating his magical concoctions. L'Oréal sadly, just didn't understand the Thierry Mugler DNA and have since allowed this once sublime brand to wilt & wither. Appreciate your time in making these videos - thank you

Awe I actually enjoy Burberry body. I used to think it smelled bad, but I gave it a proper testing and I found it quite cozy :) like clean skin. Smell is so subjective though. The one fragrance I just couldn’t enjoy for the life of me is the Gucci one you mentioned. I wanted to love it bc the bottle is beautiful, but it smelled rancid to me nose.
I'm totally in love with Shalimar, I love it so much that sometimes I just open the bottle and breathe it. L'instant is masterpiece, I cannot live without and I deeply love portrait of a lady as well. The only Guerlain I don't particularly love is the "petit robe noir", but i generally can't stand cherry notes. I agree with you for the rest 😊, i don't like muglers (even though I'm not sure the reason is Jasmine... I love Jardin de pays by Perris Montecarlo, ant that's indolic 😁 I know is not everyone's cup of tea, but I adore it) and I especially dislike chanel n5, but I have to admit I hate every Chanel perfume on the planet, there's something in it those perfumes which is repulsive to me
So many favorites on this list! 😭 I do wonder how many people just smelled these is store and didn’t actually give them a chance. I remember the first time that I smelled Alien, Angel, and Aura. I loved them, but they were so strong. I was intimidated! Love them now.
Alien is said to be polarising, so you ether love or hate it. I am somewhere in between. I have a 15ml bottle and every few month I take a sniff. At the begining I like it but then there is something that keeps me from using is. What annoys me is, that I can not point the finger on it. I love Jasmin. I love woody notes and Iove amber. I don't even mind the synthetic touch so what is in there, that I can not stand?

Aura was my first designer fragrance, and after buying tons of other fragrances figured nothing other compares to it's originality.

It comes off as fresh on me. Nothing old at all.
Everyone's different and everyone likes different things, I wouldn't call all those scents bad at all. Angel and Kenzo Elephant are my most potent and most complemented perfumes ❤
I still wear Angel today. I’ve been wearing it since 1992 and I’m 57 now…. Not everybody can wear Angel you can either pull it off or you can’t. I’m just glad that I can it’s my number one.

Hi Paulina, I like your videos very much as usual. Since we are talking about him let’s just spare a thought for Thierry Mugler who passed away last Sunday. Like him or not he was very talented and original like his perfumes.
She was clearly talking about his perfumes and not him as a person. And maybe she did this video before he passed? I don’t know, but I didn’t think she was talking bad about the man, just the perfumes associated with his brand.

I was surprised to see La Petite Robe Noire. It’s a beautiful lighter fragrance. It’ll always be a classic. I’m also surprised Black Opium was there….wow.
On me la petite robe noir smells like moskito repellent (to my own surprise).
It must be the sour cherry but to me La Petite Robe Noir smells very sour, sometimes it reminds me of cough syrup or something of the sort. But many friends love it on me, so it's just my nose acting up here haha. Very subjective like with all perfumes
I was surprised too Petite Robe Noir is my favourite perfume, it smells warm and sweet on me and I can smell the warm coffee notes, I've had lots of strangers ask what I'm wearing and say it's beautiful and commented it smells really expensive 😍
Hah! I guess most people hate my taste in perfumes! 😂🤣😂 I have Alien, Aura, Good Girl, Shalimar, Jungle L’Elephant & Black Opium Extreme. They are some of my most loved scents. I also love La Vie Est Belle, but don’t have a bottle of it at the moment.
I absolutely adore Angel and Alien by Mugler. Alien is a summertime favorite, Angel is my winter baby. And it seems to be not watered down👌 Portrait of a lady is just a masterpiece. It is my favorite fragrance in the entire world !!!❤️❤️❤️ I also like Gucci Memoire. To me it smells like a chamomile baby cream, it's soft and relaxing 👍

I think "hate" is a too strong word in many cases. Most fragrances in your list I would not use nor like to smell them on others but "hate" to me means it literally makes me want to throw up. This happened to me only with very few rather "extreme" niche scents. LVEB, Black Opium etc are designed to be mass-pleasing fragrances so it also must have to do with associations we have with these type of fragrances when we put them in a "hate" category.
I like this video because it is helpful to know which fragrances are polarizing and might be really hated by others.
There are so many reasons to not like a fragrance - you dislike a certain note in general, you have bad memory associations, etc. Some turn from love to hate and the other way around. This is what makes this hobby so fascinating. Thanks for the video, Paulina!

I personally hate angel, it was so offensive to my nose when I smelt it in the shop! I love alien, the new and old formula, I was about to declutter the new formula bottle but I fell back in love with it. I like black opium but it’s there like a big oppressive cloud whenever I go to sephora to test other fragrances. 😂 I also only smell playdough whenever I test hypnotic poison and I hate it bc it sounds so good when everyone talks about it.
I Hate Angel as well, with a passion! All I get is patchouli. To me it's a mess, and I don't get how people say it's well blended. I thought I would hate Alien as well, but I truely love it. I like Black Opium sometimes on me. and hypnotic poison, well, haven't got the chance to smell it yet. I would love the smell of playdough though. XD
edit: I don't think Angel formula changed really. Tried it in the 90s, the 2000s and a year ago. Still heavy.

Is ok not to like a perfume, fragrance is subjective, but when it comes to a classic like a No 5, you gotta give it its respect. I'm 28 and No 5 has been my favourite for years, it smells like expensive vanilla champagne to me, not sure how u smell cat piss 😂 it goes to show fragrance is very subjective.
Fun fact: my work colleague kept saying No 5 is horrible, I wore it one day and she asked what perfume I'm wearing it smells amazing 😂 I told her is No 5 n she didn't believe until I brought it to work the next day 😂 body chemistry is also very important, that's why you like it in the bottle but not on you.
Hahaha this video hurts as a Black Opium lover, but as I personally hate Alien, Chanel No.5 and Angel, I fully understand and respect the haters 😝.
PS: In Germany, Black Opium is suuuuper affordable: A 150ml bottle costs about 85€ when it’s on sale and I bought the Black Opium Extreme 90ml bottle just a few months after it came out for 68€.

I don’t think people should get hate for not liking a fragrance - classic or otherwise.
I know tons of people love Light Blue and I get it. I found it beautiful on paper! But the moment it hit my skin, I turned it to strong bathroom cleaner. I also adore Burberry Her on paper. Unfortunately, my skin turns the berries to cough syrup.
We can’t help what our body chemistry does to a fragrance. And my guess is that we don’t have much control over our scent associations either. Thank You, Next always smells like pickles to me. 😂

I can see why Mugler and Tom Ford were in here, very polarizing. I personally love all Muglers. I do think a majority of the rest of them were on the list because people are so sick of smelling them. That’s at least how I feel about a lot of these perfumes.
La Vie Est Belle is hands down one of my FAVORITE perfumes ever. It’s smells SO GOOD to me. Most people just hate on it because it’s popular.

Loved this video! Fragrances are so subjective and it just goes to show how big of a role personal preferences and body chemistry play! I personally like some of these and on the other hand, 100% agree with how terrible some of the others on this list are. But I was especially screaming YESSSSS at the end when Burberry Body came up. I barely ever hear it get mentioned but I remember my visceral reaction when it first came out. The sour note gives it a distinct body odor vibe to my nose. Definitely not something I ever want to smell.
I think YSL black opium smells amazing! I wore it from store sample last week and I got more compliments than I ever have lol even had a lady follow me around the store just to ask me what is was
I honestly cannot understand how someone doesn’t like back opium. I feel like it’s such a crowd pleasing fragrance. I think people just jump on a hate train not even having smelled the fragrance.

I love how extremely subjective fragrances are! It makes it fun to me to discuss what intrigues and disgusts us. When I first smelled Angel I though what the $&@! Is this?!? But as time went on I thought it reminded me of 90s grunge. Kinda like a wet carpet but also nostalgic. Some days I wear Angel based on my outfit. Reminds me of something Debbie Thornberry would wear. Also, TF Black Orchid… a friend bought me the travel size (glad he didn’t go big) because I CAN NOT take it. But I think it would smell great on a man. 🤷🏽♀️

Gucci Memoire D'une Odeur is not everybody cup of tea, I get it. For me is wonderful, it smells like clean linnen, field full of blooming camomile and childhood. I do love it for late spring
Black opium will forever have a special place in my heart. It was the fragrance that was comfortable enough to take me by the hand and introduce me to the fragrance world.
I can usually appreciate every scent and I don't dislike many perfumes, but the one that I got a strong, negative reaction (I vomited) from was Libre YSL.
angel has been my signature perfume for 15+ years and has gone through quite a few minor-moderate reformulations but since mugler sold out to loreal it's been completely ruined. all you get from angel now is a sharp screechy artificial patchouli and burnt plastic notes that lasts for around 2 hours at most. loreal have completely decimated everything mugler was as a perfume house with terrible reformations and lacklustre mass appealing new releases. it's such a shame.
Yes! The original Angel is beautiful from beginning to end, I can't stand the new version, get a headache from it. I now need to buy dupes to get the old scent.
@@hummelleben8470 honestly i’ve been bankrupting myself buying every pre-loreal bottle i see online lol but i just can’t be without. the trick is to look for bottles/boxes branded ‘thierry mugler’ rather than just ‘mugler’ then you know you’re getting an older formulation :) i find angel muse to be very nice also and it reminds me of og angel in many ways! loreal discontinued it but its still pretty easy to find online and you can rest assured that it hasn’t been ruined by their crap reformulations x

I agree, Black Opium is so overhyped and not a dry down profile I enjoy. It's just...not sophisticated, not interesting.
I must say though..one of my all times favorites and always will be are Baccarat Rouge and Baccarat Extrait, and I know the Baccarat fragrances are very hyped and have been for a long time...can't help it. Two of the few perfumes that I fell head over heels in love with

I agree with everything on this list, except for Angel, Alien and Good Girl. They smell really nice on my skin and I get tons of compliments.
None of these fragrances are 'bad'. They have been popular for a reason. But I will admit that some of them are a bit polarizing or already starting to get a bit dated to some noses. At the end of the day though, people should wear whatever they want. For almost all of those fragrances, I know someone who absolutely rocks them on a daily. But there are also some that got reformulated and are but a weak echo of what they used to be when originally released (looking at you, Black Opium).

Chemistry is everything! My stepmother wore estee lauder Youth Dew. It smelled amazing on her. When I wore it people literally recoiled from me. I smelled like a combo of bleach and instance. It was just awful. First of all, I was too young to wear youth dew. It's not a young girls scent, despite the name. As I came into my own, I found my signature scent. It took me 45 years!😄 I won't say what it is because it's generally hated but on my skin it just works!
I agree with you on these! La Vie Est Belle doesn't work for me, the patchouli is intense on me. But also that, like you said, everyone is wearing it makes it uninteresting to me.

I love Youth Dew. My grandmother used to wear it when we went to visit her and she would go out to dinner with my parents. She never doused herself in it though. I like wearing it when I'm having a cosy day at home because it makes me feel warm and loved and safe.

i think gucci memoire is absolutely a beautiful scent. I don't think its crowd pleasing, so i get why people hate it. I personally wouldn't want to smell like it, but I like to believe legolas from LOTR would wear it, its very elvish and magical in my opinion.

I love Angel. At first I was thinking I did not like it but then I kept going back to it trying it on and smelling it to see if I can find what it is that people love about it & get my brain around the many notes. And I did!! Yes, suddenly it changed for me after 3 or 4 days of wearing it, like magic. It suddenly morphed into the smoothest pillowy mystical magical creamy berry scent with sweet patchouli. I am as shocked as you. Haha

I was disappointed in YSL Black opium. I finally drop the coins and bought it this year. But like you said it doesn’t last long especially for the price. That and the dry down on me smells like Red Raspberries.
On me Black Opium smells like I spilled some Vanilla flavoured Coffee on my clothes. I like to drink it, but as a fragrance it repells me.
I am shocked, on me La Petite Robe Noir smells like cherry....I also like the licorice in original Lolita Lempicka. I am even more shook to the masterpiece original TRESOR and I recently discovered beautiful and more contenporary Tresor In Love :) LVEB can be annoying ...I can only bare The Intensement version as it is the least cloying/cheap smelling...BO is pleasant but boring AF ;)
Alien is very harsh and I have been giving myself time to ease into this one. I refuse to give up on it.
Good list... think you're onto something here. Of the 15 here that I've tried, I really like Alien, and Good Girl is okay (not a scrubber) But I dislike all the rest. Maybe add some hideous scrubbers like Coco mademoiselle, Not a Perfume, Dolce & Gabbana The One, Mon Guerlain, Baccarat Rouge 540, etc. These run the gamut of giving me headaches, making me nauseous, and mostly having notes that screeched on my skin from start to finish. And Delina... pretty in the air and nothing but sour screaming rhubarb on my skin. Oh dear. I'm probably going to upset someone. But these fragrances are huge No's for me.
My #1 hated perfume is Poison. A friend of mine used to hose herself down with it. Barf city! Especially in the car! I used to have to roll down the window and almost hang my head out, like a dog.

*Aura* by Mugler is one of the most beautiful, sophisticated and powerful scents. Yes, it can be polarising however, it takes a certain type of nose to appreciate the magic of this poisonous juice. On the one hand I agree it's a personal preference but Thierry Mugler (the man himself & as the brand was formally called) was a magician when it came to creating his magical concoctions. L'Oréal sadly, just didn't understand the Thierry Mugler DNA and have since allowed this once sublime brand to wilt & wither. Appreciate your time in making these videos - thank you

Awe I actually enjoy Burberry body. I used to think it smelled bad, but I gave it a proper testing and I found it quite cozy :) like clean skin. Smell is so subjective though. The one fragrance I just couldn’t enjoy for the life of me is the Gucci one you mentioned. I wanted to love it bc the bottle is beautiful, but it smelled rancid to me nose.

L'instant is masterpiece, I cannot live without and I deeply love portrait of a lady as well. The only Guerlain I don't particularly love is the "petit robe noir", but i generally can't stand cherry notes. I agree with you for the rest 😊, i don't like muglers (even though I'm not sure the reason is Jasmine... I love Jardin de pays by Perris Montecarlo, ant that's indolic 😁 I know is not everyone's cup of tea, but I adore it) and I especially dislike chanel n5, but I have to admit I hate every Chanel perfume on the planet, there's something in it those perfumes which is repulsive to me

I remember the first time that I smelled Alien, Angel, and Aura. I loved them, but they were so strong. I was intimidated! Love them now.
Alien is said to be polarising, so you ether love or hate it. I am somewhere in between. I have a 15ml bottle and every few month I take a sniff. At the begining I like it but then there is something that keeps me from using is. What annoys me is, that I can not point the finger on it. I love Jasmin. I love woody notes and Iove amber. I don't even mind the synthetic touch so what is in there, that I can not stand?
If only, if only we could get this makeup tutorial!
