This was originally a Sumbrada discussion that JR and I had while practicing Sumbrada. Here is the trimmed down version of our practice.
6 Count Sumbrada : Single Stick, Double Stick, Double Stick (hit & block) vs Single Stick , Stick and Knife vs Stick and Knife, Knife vs Knife
10 Count Sumbrada: Single Stick, Double Stick, Double Stick (hit & block)
As you improve on the basics of the 6 and 10 count Sumbrada pattern of counter for counter, you can then employ other angles of attack that your partner or opponent must learn to counter. Additionally, being able to utilize both hands helps develop your coordination.
I think JR mentioned it at least once, but I'll repeat it. The purpose of the Double Stick Hit and Block pattern is to speed up and encourage your partner to become faster on the Single Stick Sumbrada patterns.
