    Thanks for this post. It was an interesting listen. You've reminded me of the question: When does sound become music? A question I'm not qualified to answer ... except for myself.

      Thank you! There are many studies on this topic and different perspectives. In my opinion, an organised system of sounds is music, like an organised system of words makes a speech. If you look at the score, this piece is carefully "organised", in the choice of the single notes, their timing, their transition, as well as in the overall structure.

      @@AndreaDeVitis I can imagine the score looks ... unconventional. It seems that some music is designed for the intellect as opposed to the emotions. I've always admired Alan Holdsworth's guitar playing, but I've never understood what he's trying to communicate. His music was over my head.

      For me, it becomes music when one can relate to the emotion expressed by the sound.

    Great version. I have heard 3 or 4 performances of this piece, and this one is my favourite. Great rigour with the score and a very good balance between tempo and let ring the sounds of this beautiful piece. Thanks!
