I don’t know whether I’m proud or embarrassed to say, I was really good friends with quite a few renaissance fair(e) performers, jugglers mostly, and then my crappy little college rented out its (dilapidated) dorm space to quite a few other Bristol fair performers one summer, and I was so tempted to run away with them: it turned out there’s a whole circuit some of these people travel throughout the year, which keeps them employed and constantly moving around the North American continent, and to me it sounded like the closest I could come to running away and joining the circus, just like the characters in my favorite childhood books had done. However, unlike my juggling friends, the Bristol folk staying at our dorms seems like a rather rough bunch: insular, paranoid, not exactly book-smart but plenty sly, not too terribly honest, and seemingly pretty quick to get inebriated and pick a fight; they quickly dashed whatever romantic notions I’d held about them. Who knows, though. My juggling friend was sweet as pie, and for now going on 30 years he’s been traveling that circuit making a living. Maybe I’d still run away and join them. Anyhow, thanks for the upload, this brings back lots of memories. Mud show!!
thank you! finally a video where someone isnt talking the whole time.
