In my opinion Barrie is one of the most over priced cities in Canada for what you get and the jobs in the area. Not to mention you will need a car to do anything because everything is spread out. I've lived in Barrie for almost 30 years and it's nothing like it used to be. Back in 2003 you could find a 4 bedroom home for 200k. The same house would be over a million dollars today. The recent spike in population has made Barrie a very unenjoyable place to live.
Wrong, Barrie is the place to go for aging Torontonians with money as it is a combination of a city with a cottage feel and as such, comes at a premium price. Go train, beaches, cottages on the lake, close to skiing, great fishing, camping, motorcycles, snowmobiles, ice fishing and the home prices will just keep going up.
