N M M the sad truth is most let their desire for the healer turn into pride and boastfulness. they associate their desire for sanctification with their own salvation, and slowly self righteousness slips in. Not Jesus righteousness.

No Jesus, no joy! I can't imagine the emptiness of a heaven without the light of God and being able to praise our Lord Jesus forever.
I love the paradox of how I can't love Him without Him leading me to love Him more. When I quit striving to do his will for the sake of "doing his will" and release everything to Him, that's when I love Him the most.

@Carlie Trogicj I agree, we are 100% dependant on God, there is absolutely nothing that we can do without him sustaining our very existence. What I'm saying is that I have been going to Him for what He can give not really for who He is, my desire has been for His gifts not for His person.

What verse that says Jesus is heaven?

  • @iamizaiahtoo
    @iamizaiahtoo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +59

This was a wonderful. WONDERFUL sermon. Many people think you receive Jesus because you don’t want to go to hell. Of course, who wants to go to hell? But what is your objective then? To believe in God yet still live the same worldly life you use to live in? Expecting to have a spot reserved in heaven specifically for you, although you didn’t abide by his words or rely on the spirit most of your life? Some use Jesus because they “just want to be happy”. Well, of course that’s our inheritance. Is to be happy. But receiving God is entering into a realm that we were naturally intended to live in. It’s going back to what we were initially created for. It’s bringing the kingdom of God to Earth to present to others their TRUE divine selves. It’s so hard for us (it was for me) to believe that we truly were created for an abundant life that is beyond this World. It took me many tears (of joy & sadness) to continuously acquire revelation knowledge that led up to that realization. We are soooo much bigger than this world. The value that we have is immeasurable because we are worth God’s currency. Not the world’s currency. This is why I just want all of my friend’s, family, and strangers I run by to know the word of God. Because you find out things that leave you speechless and that impact your spirit like never before. God wants us to realize how much of him is in us. To the point where even on our bad days or even when we run into mind battles or are feeling down. We still feel more whole than we ever did when he wasn’t in our lives.

Jamie D. Exactly. Jesus is referring to those who are trusting in their works for salvation. Those who don’t pray and talk to Jesus, who don’t trust in his blood alone to become clean enough to enter heaven. The righteous shall live by faith. The work of God is to believe in Jesus sacrifice. Evidence of your salvation isn’t the Holy Spirit perfectly sanctifying you from moment you believe. Evidence of salvation is the Holy Spirit, which is easy to notice because you are convicted of sin. For example, I hate when people swear. I feel conviction. Yet I still do it myself sometimes. I hate it in others, I hate it in myself. I hate sin. But I still do it sometimes.

    • @LivingTrancefully

Carlie Trogicj because they trusted in their works to save them, and they neglected their relationship with Jesus for the sake of “works”. The best works you could ever do is to believe, repent, pray. That’s all you need to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Not this perfection with no sin. Our full sanctification comes when we are reunited with Jesus.

    • @thekingslady1
      @thekingslady1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The only reason why Jesus dismissed the people in Matthew 7 is strictly because they were not trusting on Him ALONE for Salvation. They were trusting their works in some way, to save them. More than likely they were trusting Christ PLUS their works, instead of trusting Him ALONE.
John Piper is a lying snake....trying to make Salvation complicated. "Oh you believe, but have you received Him....and I don't mean like "receiving" an Amazon package". Get outta here with that nonsense!!!

Keylow 89 do not listen to a single word this Pharisee John Piper says! Works has nothing to do with Salvation. You can have ZERO works and still be saved. Eternal life is a FREE GIFT with NO CONDITIONS (a.k.a “do works”) attached. A person can also have a plethora of works and actually not be saved, again, because works has nothing to do with Salvation.
So my dear, it is not confusing. Do not let this unsaved prostituting devil confuse you.
Salvation is received by believing on Christ ALONE. It is not be believing on Christ PLUS doing works to get, keep, maintain, preserve or PROVE your Salvation.
A person’s Salvation cannot be proven! Only God sees the person’s faith. Our best bet is to listen to a person’s profession....and that is how I know this man is not saved but is ALSO trusting his works a la Matthew 7- by what he is professing in this video. He is a quintessential FALSE PROPHET! DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM!!

    • @arimorr
      @arimorr 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

I definitely understand!! What comes to mind is by learning about WHO He is. His character. Reading the Bible for the knowledge and revelation of Christ. Not just the promises. I’m saying this to myself as well. I guess we need to think about what a relationship is...and ask ourselves if our approach has been one that is the foundation of building a relationship...getting to know Him, simply. Or if we’ve looked at Him as a dispensary. God has a character. God has a heart. We can see this through the life of Jesus. So...yeah!

    • @evahernandez6452
      @evahernandez6452 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I don’t think we can DO anything. It’s more of a supernatural working in us. It’s grace. We can work out our salvation and trust God would use it to put in us delight for him above wanting to be admired and above food comfort, for example. Am I right.

"We love Him because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19" Meditate in what Jesus did for us at the cross. There he displayed the ultimate act of love. Our love and passion for Jesus will always fall short compared to his love for us, but we can be honest with God from right where we find ourselves and ask Him to help us love Him above all else. The more we place our attention on how he loved us the more we will be stirred to love Him.

"not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith" -Philippians 3:9
"Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified." -Galatians 2:16
The Bible makes it very clear that we are justified by faith alone and not by anything that we do. Fighting to treasure Jesus is just another work of the law, it's trying to work for your salvation. I absolutely loved where you were coming from though. That we really need to seek Jesus and not the things that he gives. Without loving Jesus, our lives will feel empty. He must be what we're satisfied in. His love for us is truly amazing. I think if we were only saved if we treasured Jesus, then that would go against Ephesians 2:8-9 because we could boast that our love for him saved us. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast." If we think were only saved by us treasuring Jesus, then we would be down-grading Jesus amazing love for us in that the gift of righteousness is a gift we slightly deserve because of our love rather than something we don't deserve at all. The gift wouldn't be completely free. Notice how the second verse I pointed out, Galatians 2:16, doesn't say "we are justified by faith alone in Christ and by treasuring Christ". Many times Paul's letters were about correcting a church from believe in "we are saved by faith in Jesus AND something else."
As sad as it is for people to believe in Jesus only for what he gives you, I think it only goes with God's amazing grace that he would still save those people. If it weren't so, God's grace wouldn't be as amazing.

This sermon/message really opened my eyes. I want to love and believe in Jesus, but another side of me still disobeys Him. Sometimes even conscious disobedience.😭😭😭 I feel so far gone. I keep wondeing: was my faith ever true?
At the other hand: I know that I want Jesus. Fil. 3:10-11 is therefore one of my favorites from Scripture.
Still, I am so scared to just "use" Jesus. I feel like I just cannot love/genuinly receive Jesus "on my own". I am so desperate for God. I feel like I need to be saved from myself. My corrupt, twisted heart. This ongoing internal battle -- I really struggle with this. Has someone advice what to do or having the same experience?

@monica, I feel the same way too. It feels tedious to follow Jesus. I definitely believe He took my sins away, but I don't find myself treasuring Him or loving Him enough to want to obey Him wholeheartedly.
This is the problem: love. I don't love Him the way He wants to be loved. I don't see His commands and ways as worth it, not really. I too feel so wicked and distorted inside; some days i just sit and weep and beg Him to help me. I've had such revelation of the Father's love for me, but for some reason I'm not drawn to Jesus the Son in the same way. But I spend my days praying over it and looking for a way out. If I'm planning on spending eternity with Jesus, then I have to love and obey Him for eternity, right? May as well learn now.

Jesus to me is simply this. He is the heart of God. God gave His whole heart for me and my sins. His heart was broken to mend me. His heart was crushed so that I could be made whole. God gave His heart willingly even if I chose to and would refuse it. His heart and love was given without any condition. That's why I can boldly say apart from Him I can do nothing, in Him I live, I move and have my being.

Yes :) I don't really think this is a very healthy video for most people to watch. What I see the message of this video doing, is pushing salvation to a place of performing a trust in God that is good enough to be saved. It says in the bible that no man seeks God. That means that in ourselves, we have no enjoyment in God whatsoever. The Holy Spirit is the only One who, by the extreme, loving grace of God, can make us into real lovers of God and of people. And this is a process. God will continue to make us better lovers for the rest of our lives. What John is describing in this video is a really good and beautiful thing, but ONLY (!!!) Gods grace can do it in us. All we can do is responding to Him and saying yes. Our feelings flutctuate. Hope this helps you!

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything that I have told you.
Ephesians 2:8-9 New International Version (NIV)
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
I pray you find the answer in God's Word, sister.

I came to Jesus in December of 2016. It's definitely been a roller coaster ride. I want to be able to 'see' Him and see His, well no other word for it, how glorious and worthy of praise He is. People who don't know Him are dead and can't do ANYTHING unless the Father draws them. The desire to want to 'see' Him is Him working in us I believe.

In response to brother John Pipers video regarding 'Are you just using Jesus?'
The answer is of course we are.
He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and no one comes to the Father but by Him.
So what is this receiving of Jesus?
    John 1:12
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
    King James Version (KJV)
As I understand English, those who receives Him into their heart and lives are given the power to become the sons of God.
This power is of course the total and complete forgiveness of sins past, present (God forbid) and future.
Also, the receiving of the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Christ.
    Romans 8:9
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”
    King James Version (KJV)
But this blessedness is also freely given to those who simply believe on His name.
Believe here is looking expectantly to Jesus as the One Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Justification being the operative word here, as justification with God comes through faith in Christ's finished work on the cross for us, therefore any addition or subtraction to that eternal truth is heresy and certainly not the gospel of Christ.
Every born again believer is saved by grace through faith.
As you can safely trust one can only be born in the flesh once, so to with the Spirit.
Therefore, eternal redemption is what every single believer in this planet has, irrespective of their own personal performances?
Knowing the truth of who we are in Christ and what we have in Him and how we got there ought to fill us with joy?
Our salvation does not depend on us. In any shape or form, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Therefore, all we have to do is look (expectingly) as the Israelites looked upon the bronze serpent in the wilderness to be delivered.
    1 Corinthians 1:9
“God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.”
    King James Version (KJV)
Our Salvation is dependant on God.

You also have to understand that you can't just continue to sin and expect Grace to cover it all
      Romans 6:1-2 NKJV
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

I appreciate John’s desire to explain that in the Christian’s life it is mandatory to see Christ as a rescuer, a Master and a Treasure. BUT, my difficulty with a lot of his verbiage is it sounds like he’s saying: “if you don’t feel a certain way you don’t have saving faith!” Or, “If you don’t love him THIS MUCH you don’t have saving faith.” We will have faith that produces love. BUT, love/treasuring Christ is not always a feeling!

Carlie Trogicj But what if John Piper is right? He seems to have a lot of Biblical evidence to support the notion that one must treasure Jesus above all else in order to be saved. If that is true, then I am not saved, and I need to find a way to get saved ASAP. I believe in the Gospel, but if what John Piper says in this video is correct, belief is not enough. I must receive Christ in a saving way. And since I have not yet received Christ in a saving way despite praying for it, I am beginning to suspect that I may not be one of the elect. If I am genuinely seeking saving faith, and not receiving it, perhaps I am predestined for Hell? I don't know, I'm kind of just rambling at this point. No matter how many times I'm told that we are justified through belief in the Gospel alone, I will still have doubts. I'd much rather live a miserable life of wondering if I'm saved, and go to Heaven, than live a happy life of "knowing" I'm saved, and go to Hell.

Kylee B i do not believe that it is God’s will for us to be in fear of our salvation. As far as I know God doesn’t operate in fear. I also do not believe that one must treasure Jesus above all else to be saved but rather believe in the work he has done in our lives and let God transform our desires and image into his. I don’t think God is going to tell people you were using my son therefore you can’t come in because that is the reason he died on the cross for us in order that we may use his blood to be whole. I’m saying I believe because I don’t want to steer you down the wrong path with a topic as important as this but i would not be in fear. Simply pray and put your faith in God. What you described pastor John sounds like the love associated with affection or fondness (philos) and not the kind that puts first and sacrifices (agapao - verb).
Please correct my understanding then. Love to me is not a feeling.
God is challenging me in this season of my life about my heart. What you described would mean I’m not saved (and if that’s the case Jesus do a work in my heart please and save me!).
It’s been my understanding that whether God has my affection or not is irrelevant (since that goes up and down). My obedience to His word is my demonstration of love (if you love Me you will keep My commandments).
Please explain. It’s been a rough several months and I’m trying to get grips with this.

The burden of sin was bore upon the cross by the Lord Jesus Christ. Anyone who places the burden of sin upon a sinner to be saved is propagating a false gospel of self-righteousness. Jesus paid it all... and He died in our place taking the punishment we all deserve...
Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ's best put to your account through repentance and faith. God will not save anyone who is trying to be saved of themselves, He will only save those who know they need a savior and are trusting Him to be saved. The only requirement to be saved is to admit that you are a guilty sinner in God's sight (Romans 3:19-26) and to turn to Jesus Christ in faith trusting in His death burrial and Ressurection (Romans 10:9-13). You must come as an ungodly sinner to be saved. No one has ever been saved except the UNGODLY (Romans 4:5-8). God doesn't save the self-righteous, who are going about to establish their own righteousness (Matthew 7:21-23). We can only be saved by God's righteousness, which is through faith in Christ. Philippians 3:9 says, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.”

I’d like to comment on John’s comment on 6:10; I agree with the premise of the point he’s trying to make, but It would appear (and please correct me if I’m wrong) Piper is also concluding if there is any point in your walk where you don’t love or prioritize Jesus the way not only he demands, but deserves to be loved, you’re showing evidence you may have never been saved to begin with. I would argue with bringing up the church of Ephesus when Jesus tells the church of Ephesus “you have left your first love, repent or I will remove the light from your lamp stand”. Again, I agree with the statement that Jesus is to be our supreme treasure, but I think it’s irrational if I understood his claim correctly to say you don’t have saving faith if you love these more than Christ.

I do think he is fighting against a cheap form of the gospel where people say they believe something bc all they want is gain for themselves and don’t want Jesus even a little bit. Will Jesus give undoubting faith to someone with a heart response like that? I don’t know the answer to that. Maybe John Piper has gone too far the opposite direction though placing a heart response to the Gospel that is exceedingly rare. I know my heart response doesnt measure up the standards John piper is placing out there even though I desire for it to be. Based on what he’s saying would that mean I am not saved? Absolutely! If he is right that is a scary thought especially for me bc I still believe I’m saved and do not doubt that Christs blood is enough to save my wicked heart but I still do not desire Jesus above all else even though I want to.

I thought salvation is not our work. I thought that believing in the cross is that what justifies and purifies us. Jesus said: it is finished and I know that everybody falls short to the glory of God. I know I should desire God with all my heart but sometimes it’s hard when you don’t see or hear him. Sometimes I pray and pray and ask for guidance and his present, but still Gods feels far away sometimes, so is my faith not enough? I believe in the grace gospel, because that’s what Paul said and also John 16:4 and John 3:16 states and Romans 6:23. I know I don’t desire God who I should do, but to think that I have to desire God or I am not saved, that would mean that I have to Love God the same way he did, which seems kinda impossible to me. MsCrystalwings would you argue it’s repentant belief of the gospel? repentance isn’t a work. Satan believes Jesus died for sinners, but he’s not sorry for his sins and doesn’t want to change. I want to change, even though I know I can’t be fully sanctified until I am reunified with Jesus. What about my alcoholic buddy who believes the gospel, but never talks about his faith and doesn’t feel sorry about his sins. Is he saved? Maybe he is repentant of his sins, but it’s just not something I can notice. Repentance is an inner job so I wouldn’t notice it anyway, although most of the time it’s reflected on the outside as well. Which is bearing fruit. And it makes me sick, sometimes people mistake bearing fruit for legalism. As if saying the evidence of salvation is what gives salvation itself. Or that bearing fruit means perfection in the law (no). It just means good works. The works don’t save you they are evidence that you are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Only perfect works can save, and Jesus is the only one who fulfilled the law! The conviction of your sin and the change that follows is evidence (sanctification process). Complete sanctification (perfect works) is a slow process that is never completed in this life, but when we meet Jesus again, he will complete us! That day will be so glorious!

The problem only comes if that is the only reason you are with Jesus, basically if he were to completely heal you tomorrow, would you go off and forget about him. If you feel like that might be the case, then just ask him to be your friend too.
