Interesting video, I wasn't aware of that brand. A closer look at these revealed that at least the 6SN7 is a re-labeled PSVANE 6SN7C, of which I have a pair. The C likely stands for the 'ceramic' base. Everything except the printing looks identical. After all, there are only a few actual tube manufacturers still in business. Personally, I prefer shorter tubes because the lower leverage makes it less prone to microphonics, at least in theory. Admittedly, they are quite pretty.
I bought a ray 6sn7 to try in my Schiit Saga preamp. I really liked the sound. Even though it is just a buffer circuit it transformed the sound of the preamp.
Just get the PSVANE CV-181 MKII, it's the same tube. I've had 2 pairs of the reserves and 1 of the PSVANE and there is zero difference aside from branding and a nicer box along with a warranty for several times the price.
Hi, is there a significant difference in sound quality on the Topping A90D compared to the Topping A30 pro ... or what do you recommend other than 500-600 dollars? No American products because they are very expensive in Europe due to transportation costs. Thank you, good luck in your future work?
@@Currawong the reserve took my eufonika to a whole new level. would be curious your thoughts on using the reflector 6v6 with the 65n7 selects. I know I have tried the reflector 6v6 with the 12au7 selects and it was the most magical pairing I have heard on the cayin ha-3a. would be curious how they pair with the select 6sn7.
There has been rumors asince at least 2021 about Western Electric being about to start making 6SN7's. Seemingly some pre-production tubes have been distributed to a few selected people. Any news about that? The WE site still says nothing about it.
That would be great if it's true. NOS tubes are just too pricey for the most part. I'd imagine they'd be focussed on the Midrange like their 300bs, but just wild speculation of course!
Apos ray are more expensive than masses of quality NOS and old stock testing as new. Apos ray is sellin $25 tubes for $60 or $80. Sylvania Bad boy are $100

Studio 6 is one of my dream gears.
Looks like it has been discontinued. The only one I could find online is in Europe.
Thanks for the review I’ve been curious about this brand. You should give the reserves a try, I’d be interested in what you think

At first blush, I'm really enjoying my Ray 12ax7's
Why didn't they send you Ray Tube 6SN7 RESERVE Vacuum TUBE? It costs $210 and is supposed to be great in the Lyr +.
Which tube rings are those? Never seen

I'd get a Mojo 2 if I were spending anything near that amount, unless I specifically wanted a tube amplifier.
Will you be testing the Apos Reserve version as well?
I'm curious to now, after trying the Select, so we'll see what happens.

First I've heard of it. If they do come out with a tube, expect it to be insanely expensive.

Here’s the issue they are hard to get in England
APOS doesn't ship to the UK? Edit: In the APOS 6SN7 thread on Head-Fi, they state that they have international shipping.

Your hair looks cool
You firgot to mention tubes operate in a circuit. Not in isolation.
Ray tubes are still too expensive
Russian equivalents are still better value in my eyes
