As a total beginner, I must say this gentleman is not just clearly knowledgeable, but he is an excellent instructor and teacher and is not condescending toward the novice. I see that in the gun world (I'm a gun guy and I despise 'gun know how arrogance'). Thank you again, Sir. Ordered a pair of Title Gels based on your recommendation!
i bet you use a 22lr like a pus... lol nah im joking. Yh i know what u mean about the gun world, it can get pretty stupid sometimes when people start saying stuff like "9mm doesn't work"
First! How the hell could anyone thumbs down this video? I am getting back into boxing for recreation and fitness after taking a long break from the sport and this video has given me more insight on what I may want as opposed to any other video or info out there. Thank you
I bought a pair of 14oz Hayabusa T3 gloves after watching this vid. I haven't been training long but I'm committed. I love my gloves. It takes a while to get used to the closure system and putting them on quickly but once you've got used to them though, they're great. Really comfortable, great protection and super wrist support. They also look good and are quite unusual... which is a bonus. Thanks for the recommendation
Tried winning - liked them, trued title gel - was ok, trued some cheap bad stuff (everlast, venom and bad windys) but in the end - i love the reyes gloves the most. I guess it comes down to personal preferences and hand size/shape. As much as i liked the winning - they didnt really gave me the feedback as a puncher as i feel with reyes. I can totally see why some of the great defensive boxers chose them, they absorb shots very well even when i pickabooed my sparring partners. But when i really wanted to land my bombs - only reyes.
I have both Those Reyes and the Hayabusa T3s (shown). Those T3s run about 99- 129 and are excellent gloves. I use them (16oz) for sparring and partner drilling. You cannot go wrong with those. The Reyes I bought were 150 and took a little more time to break in but are the perfect glove for me. I use them for my professional mitt work and training.
Don't forget the break in period with Reyes. My hands ached for the first like 20 times using mine. Winning are amazing right out of the box. I bought some for sparring and they're the best glove I've sparred with.
Reyes are the best training gloves to me. Quality is excellent and fit is perfect. It resolved the bruised knuckles problem that I had with my BGV1 Fairtex.
Hayabusa T3 gloves are amazing. Like he said fits great. After I broke them in for a month it feels like nothing Is on my hand. It's also great for sparring they don't feel top heavy at all.
Concerning the knuckle protection on the Cleto Reyes gloves, I have to mention they manufacture a hook & loop trainning model with extra cushioning (I believe it's twice as thick) that covers the whole back of the hand area ;)
Love my Rival RB1s, a lot of boxing and MMA gloves never quite fit me properly, but the RB1 was the one. Only downside is learning how to get the straps on quick, but no problem once you get it.
I love your videos. I'm 51 and grew up watching Ali, Frazier and Leonard. A few years ago I took martial arts classes to learn self defense and for fitness. Now I've started cardio training and punching the heavy bag. My goal is to stay in shape and never stop improving myself. Now for my question. I've been using some of the cheaper 16oz Title gloves (Classic Leather elastic training) and my wrists hurt afterwards. I need some better bag gloves with good wrist protection, so I don't injure myself until I learn good technique. I can afford to spend around $100 for a pair of gloves. I'm 5' 10" 185 lbs with 8.75" hands. I've heard good things about Ring2Cage C17 (Winnings clone) and I looked at the gloves on your site. I've read very mixed reviews about most big brands except Winnings. Some reviewers are obviously getting paid to promote one brand or another and other reviewers hate all Pakistan clones and all American brands. You seem like an honest guy. What would you recommend?
First make sure it isn't your wrapping that is hurting your wrists/hands. Don't wrap too tight. How long have you been hitting the bag? I started (after quiting for 8 years) to box again 4 months ago and in the first month there were days I had to stop hitting with one hand as it felt like needles going through my knuckles with every punch. Trainer told me to not wrap in between knuckles or do it very lightly, and it completely fixed the issue. Same way if one day I'm in a rush and wrap quickly and tight my wrists hurt, but if I wrap slowly and properly my wrists are just fine. I use 16oz Everlast gloves I bought at a store for like 40 bucks.
@@sebaba001 I've been hitting the bag for just over 3 months. I was shown by a boxing instructor how to wrap my hands. I have also watched several videos covering different wrapping techniques. My knuckles and hands never get sore, just my wrists. I'm using the C17 gloves, now. They fit my hands well and do seem to offer a bit more wrist support as well as more protection for the hands. I'm using Mexican style wraps of various brands and wrapping for more wrist support. It is all helping, but my wrists still get sore the next day. I was hitting the bag too hard my first two months. I'm hitting the bag more consistently now and not trying to put my fist through it every punch. I'm also doing exercises to strengthen my hands and wrists. Thanks for the tip. I will try wrapping less tightly and see what happens.
@@garymanis6305 I recommend tweaking the way you wrap your hands, wrap more on the wrist, I also find it a lot more helpful to go over the wrists from the thumb twice. Also idk but maybe you're bending your wrists too much when punching? if so forearm strengthening can help a lot.
Got 5 pairs of cletos. Starting from laces to hybrid. Biggest mistake I made was that first gloves i had was cletos so now can't use any other brand gloves due feel cheap and uncomfortable lol
Been boxing and doing muay thai for over 30 years and used tons of gloves. I have to say that a lot of what makes a glove great is personal preference. You have to find gloves that fit your hand, your style of hitting and what you are looking for as far as support or hitting power. Reyes and most mexican style gloves are a punchers glove. Winning is softer and offers more protection. Rival ( I would disagree that they are only for beginners ) are great wrist support and super well fitting. There is a lot of opinion and personal preference for gloves. Quality is the main thing that the higher priced gloves offer. Better materials and stitching that will last much longer. And like everything, you can find someone that will disagree with whatever glove you choose. Try them out for yourself.
Hey, J.T.!!! Thanks for this review!! I just bought the Title Gels based on your review. 🥊🥊 Looking forward to puttin' them on and hittin' the bag!!! Thanks again!!!
Great video. I've been enjoying Fairtex 10oz gloves for bagwork and pads. They are handmade from quality leather in Thailand and it's a point of national pride for them, this is the brand all the pro Muay Thai fighters rep over there. They are super compact and sturdy, similar to Jason's description of the Hayabusa gloves. For $70 dollars they are a great value for intermediate to advanced guys.
I also use Fairtex 16 Oz BGV1 gloves for bag and pad work. They have been extremely sturdy compared to some of my previous gloves. Some might not like them because the cuff is short and there is no hand grip (being a Thai style glove). But the construction certainly is better than many alternatives at that price. I like the tight fit of the glove, that conforms to the hand with a bit of use (I was skeptical at first and thought that they were too small). I think I'm going to switch to the BGV9 (Mexican style glove) or something more traditional than BGV1 if I buy more from Fairtex.
I have a pair of 10oz Twins Special gloves for bag and pad work. Although they are intended for kickboxing/muay thai, therefore they have a bit of padding also in the back and side of the hand, I think they could work great for pure boxing, the cuff is super sturdy, a bit inflexible for muay thai clinching but fantastic for wrist support when using boxing striking. I would recommend anybody to give them a look. Price is very affordable too. Don't know how easy is to get them in the US or Europe, though.
BassForever44 agree,as well as fairtex top king and many other thai brands, very affordable price, popular in asia, but mainly built for nak muay and kickboxer...
Hmm I have been boxing for just over a month. I am currently using Everlast elite. I hit my century bob every single day. 20-30min. I started taking boxing classes every Thursday and hit a heavy bag. Hands are wrapped by my knuckles are really sore..stay with Everlast or ..I tried ringside 14oz, found it stiff out of the box, hit bob a few times then returned them..
Hey man great video greetings from Holland! Another great brand but more or less unkown is Casanova, its a Mexican boxing glove hand made and of super quality try them out they are my favourites.
For knuckle protection and durability I use Top Ten. They have the best padding in my opinion. I am using the Superfight 3000 model with 16 Oz and the double velcro strap. It's a glove that will hold up for years as most of my past Top Ten gloves performed well. I like to use 16 Oz gloves for better conditioning of my arms and shoulders and I feel the strength. And of course the padding is much better than in small bag gloves.
Jason, why are you ignoring Everlast? I think i only saw you once with Everlast product (in hand weights video). Is there some thing i missing? They did something bad to Iron Mike? I use Everlast PRIME LEATHER 14oz gloves and they are amazing, best wrist support i could find! Also i tried several Hayabusa models and they are huge inside, even Kanpeki Elite 3.0 V-Lace felt like you can shove two fists in it.
+Alex Hvostov for awhile Everlast was so bad I couldn't recommend them. But maybe they've stepped up again. I'll check out the gloves you mentioned. Thx for letting me know
Fantastic vid, man! I'd read about most of these gloves but this helped me make up my mind. Will probably get Titles or Ringsides for Christmas. Cheers!
I have RS2V's, the only con I would say is that the double strap system, while secure, is a pain to take on and off. But great wrist support, good amount of padding, and the way the straps are oriented makes it near impossible to get a cut from it (a real concern with certain non-lace gloves for sparring).
Try taping around the tip of the straps (both sides of course), so that taped portion removes the "stickiness" of that part of the velcro strap. This should make it much easier to remove the gloves by yourself. The RS1/RS2V are one of my favorite models, but that dual velcro strap is a negative .
I have some 16oz kimurawear gloves that lasted me 3 years and they're still in perfect condition it has a nice feel to it , the foam is thick and they have a velcro strap that covers and reinforces the wrist
shoulda looked more into gloves, i just know because i've been looking for a new pair and just realized how many new brands there are like fly, sabas, uma, topboxer, ringside uk etc
Just buy a hybrid these gloves come with lace up and velcro. I got the Reyes hybrid advice cut the thumb connector to the rest of the glove. This will allow you to lace them then wrap the lace around the Velcro, secure the lace by running the velcro over the lace and you don’t need anyone’s help to get your work out going. Got at it bro.
I like (no sarcasm here) how you managed to have a review of a couple of gloves by different manufacturers, you did mention your own brand and still came out as a cool guy not pushing your own product with a click bate video. Kudos! :)
Did a lot of research when I bought mine and went for the Fairtex Mexican style. great glove, superb balance, great wrist protection and felt broken in after about 20 rounds. Would definitely recommend.
I have to disagree with the Title Gels. They’re pretty durable and priced well, but the padding is terrible. I tried these and my knuckles swelled up so bad
Definitely not concerned about protection but it is a plus. Im looking for durable, good quality gloves. The reason Im not too concered about protection is because ive gotten used to punching the heavy bad with no protection and my hands tend to heal quickly.
Nice well organized information I've been looking for! curious how about Adidas boxing gloves? They're shown in the Olympic, but I've seen just few people using them for training
I've owned almost every glove out there like Cletos, Sabas Primes, Winnings, Fairtex, Twins, TU Death Adders, Title, Everlast, R2C C-17's, etc. & I just ordered a 2nd pair of the Adidas Speed 300's because I absolutely loved them! Idk about any of the other lower end Adidas gloves but these are amazing & my new favorites. They're like a broken in punchers glove w/soft leather. 👌
tbpom1003 To be fair I've only had them for 2 months so I can't speak on the long term durability but they seem to made of high quality materials & feel great so far.
I have that exact problem I hit harder than I expected sometimes I stop only because my knuckles, hand, or wrist start to hurt I wrap up and glove up and always destroy my right glove all brands I promise you
Just rewatched and realized you did mention that you won’t be covering sabas and grant since they’re not found commonly in a store and can be custom made! Sorry about that!
William Ngo yeah bro but sabas are legit man. I like them better than my grants and they are a 5th the price. Amazing feedback and great hand protection.
I have very small, bony hands with long bony fingers and tiny wrists. What I often find is that 16oz. glove are too big and the 14 and 12oz. fit better but they don't have as much padding/protection that the 16oz. have. Which glove would you recommend?
Many people have mentioned the twins special bgll-1 lace up gloves. They have decent cushiony padding once they have been broken in after a few days and a slightly smaller hand compartment, if I were you I would try the 14oz. JT also mentions Rival gloves. I personally recommend the Sabas Supersoft if you are willing to spend at least $110.
I had the same problem, bony hands and small wrists. Got the Hayabusa Tokushu (or what the name is) 16 oz, they are very comfortable and great wrist support, not as pillowy/top heavy as fx Twins Special. Biggest con in my book, my hands get hot as hell compared to other gloves.
I just ordered some Venum bag gloves last night. I hope I don't regret it. For sparring, I have Ringside gloves. The ARE big on my hands (16oz... I will not sacrifice my arm conditioning) but I feel like they really soften my punches (so I don't have to worry about my power as much) and they protect my hands when someone blocks with an elbow. Dudes like em too. They're always trying to put my gloves on.
I need your help please. You helped me alot with your videos over the years, u taught me to jump rope how move and punch . My problem now is i hit hard and my knuckles hurt and the impact is loud when I decide lay into the bag it hurts my ears . What is best for my knuckles? Thanks for helping me bring out my potential much respect.
The only gloves I have used are Everlast Powerlock 16 ounce gloves. I'm on my second pair. I have been training for three years. I use them for pad work mostly. I do need to start training more on a heavy bag, and it might benefit me to get gloves that are for bag work.
Respect for not discussing your gloves man👍🏼

been hearing some good things about hayabusa gonna have to buy some. I got some ufc branded heavy bag boxing gloves, they are a bit big for me though.
Hi,I would like to see one review about focus boxing mitt,,greetings!
Started boxing a heavy bag with hand wraps alone heheheh needless to say it did not end well
Thanks for this video its very informative, could you do a new video on wrapping your hands for training?
Title Gel definitely the way for me thanks for the info
Jt! All honesty, your gloves any good? I’d rather get yours if you recommend them over some of the ones you mentioned.
Did a lot of research when I bought mine and went for the Fairtex Mexican style. great glove, superb balance, great wrist protection and felt broken in after about 20 rounds. Would definitely recommend.
I’ve been thinking about these.. looking for another pair for bag work at home, what size you get? was thinking of getting 14oz or 16oz, i’m like 5’9
Thank you for the advice cause I bought the wrong pair to start with
Incredible video, thanks so much
Murray?
I just ordered pride boxing gloves, what are your thaughts on those
Looking to purchase your gloves. Are they good for sparring and how does it fit for a female? What would you recommend?
U R the absolute best ........ a shining ray of clarity among the bullshit boxing channels!! thank you
How about combat corner Gloves?!
What about venum gloves
garbage
not really! i got a pair of 16oz venom gloves and they are great for the price!
Knuckle Sandwich if u say garbage to venum u are under heavy drugs
venum is garbage lol
venum as a pure boxer isnt really that good.Especially Venum giant.Big dissapointment
I preffer Reyes gloves because of the quality and wrist support
I would like to see a headgear analysis too!!
Nice well organized information I've been looking for!
curious how about Adidas boxing gloves? They're shown in the Olympic, but I've seen just few people using them for training
+tbpom1003 not that great for durability in my experience
Precision Boxing gotcha! thanks for input :)
tbpom1003 To be fair I've only had them for 2 months so I can't speak on the long term durability but they seem to made of high quality materials & feel great so far.
lower end adidas gloves are no good. When I started I purchased a heap pair of Adidas gloves and I ended up selling them.
Hi, really cool video your channell's great. I'm a beginner and I saw a pair of venum elite. What do you think? Thanks.
I have that exact problem I hit harder than I expected sometimes I stop only because my knuckles, hand, or wrist start to hurt I wrap up and glove up and always destroy my right glove all brands I promise you
Awesome as usual
I got the Venum elites well they on budget so will shall see :) I wanted to get haybusa but twice as expensive :)
I got my elites like two weeks ago!! I have no complaints about them. They’re great!
Sabas gloves are a new brand that have been getting some great recognition! Maybe you can look into those in the future for a review!
Taylor Belinowski have u owned Grants to compare? I have 2 kinds of Sabas but they feel a little stiff for me
I have very small, bony hands with long bony fingers and tiny wrists. What I often find is that 16oz. glove are too big and the 14 and 12oz. fit better but they don't have as much padding/protection that the 16oz. have. Which glove would you recommend?
jimmy santos me too , i keep injuring my wrist man , I've done everything and nothing worked , i guess bjj is my thing after all :(
Many people have mentioned the twins special bgll-1 lace up gloves. They have decent cushiony padding once they have been broken in after a few days and a slightly smaller hand compartment, if I were you I would try the 14oz. JT also mentions Rival gloves. I personally recommend the Sabas Supersoft if you are willing to spend at least $110.
Thanks Carlos, I'll check them out.
I recommend you use double handwraps in order to "enhance" your hands, this way your hands will fit perfectly. 😋👍
I started boxing last month and got myself a pair of 16oz Venum Elite Boxing gloves. Got them at a good price too
David Castro how r they now
Great video JT👍🏾👍🏾❤️❤️How would you choose between Reyes and Rival?
I just ordered some Venum bag gloves last night. I hope I don't regret it.
For sparring, I have Ringside gloves. The ARE big on my hands (16oz... I will not sacrifice my arm conditioning) but I feel like they really soften my punches (so I don't have to worry about my power as much) and they protect my hands when someone blocks with an elbow.
Dudes like em too. They're always trying to put my gloves on.
Gonna try box during quarantine
There are not much choices for choosing gloves in my country. None of the brand you told. Anyway thank you.
I need your help please. You helped me alot with your videos over the years, u taught me to jump rope how move and punch . My problem now is i hit hard and my knuckles hurt and the impact is loud when I decide lay into the bag it hurts my ears . What is best for my knuckles? Thanks for helping me bring out my potential much respect.
djturk254 do u use hand wraps?
you need to use longer wraps ans definitely wrap your hands focusing on your knuckles. Also, using 16oz gloves should help.
The only gloves I have used are Everlast Powerlock 16 ounce gloves. I'm on my second pair. I have been training for three years. I use them for pad work mostly. I do need to start training more on a heavy bag, and it might benefit me to get gloves that are for bag work.
Velcro is trash mine lasted 6 months
Maybe part 2, fairtax boxing gloves are supposedly great gloves for the cost?
those are muay thai gloves arent they?
What about some of the cheaper title gloves? or sanabul are these any good? Thanks
Can you Do another video like this
Twins BGVL-3
