Dominar 400 - Suspension Upgrade - Installation and First Impressions

- The Dominar 400 is a great touring machine for the price, but it's not perfect. The suspension was a bit stiff for our conditions, and Bajaj corrected this in the 2019 update that the bike received. The front suspension was changed to USD forks with better damping and they changed the rear suspension using a softer spring which made the ride more plush.
The rear suspension is straight swap for the earlier Dominar, and it can be done within minutes. I did a couple of long rides after installing this and here is my first impression on the changes in ride quality and whether it is worth it.

Yes it’s possible.
The rear monoshock is the same as the one in D400 UG 2019 (which is what I have installed now)

@@travelwithzeus Yes. Just installed one dominar front and rear kit today. They are so good that I became a dealer for them in my city. I would highly recommend them over "use and throw" OEM suspension .. all the best.

bro is there different between 2019 and 2021 dominar rear shock? Im planning to change my rear shock 2018 version
The 2019 and 2021 models have the same rear monoshocks, no change. Check on 99rpm.com more details :)

You should have changed old suspension to softer settings
I tried that, but still it wasn't cushioning the blows over bad roads.
Maybe, some problem with my unit, but now the 2019 is much, much better :)
I had set old suspension to the softest one still its was very hard. I upgraded to 2019 and its a bliss, its just glide on pot holes. The old suspension gave me low back problem. I should have changed it long back. Sold old suspension for 1000 buck.. So upgrade cost only 1500.

Hello i m from india i am a dominar 400 owner the bike is very good and reliable just go for it. and spare parts are also easily available in market and in very reasonable rates

Furthermore, there are some reports here that the motorcycle has failed and is not starting. Still, I really liked the bike and wanted to buy one.

Front suspension is not changed.
Rear monoshock is from Dominar UG 2019 - you can get this from Bajaj service centers or 99rpm.com

It was around 2500/2700 when I did this. The current price is around 3500.

highway ride was already good on 2017/18 rear susp. what was bad was bad road low speed ride and high speed sharp bump absorption, both were very bad. the suspension from 2019 dominar makes no difference to the bad road slow speed ride or a high speed sharp bump. please do no upgrade it is not worth it.
Agree with your points on 17/18 susp., but the '19 suspension has improved the ride noticeably on my bike.
