If the played maqam has a no quarter tone it could be joined by a piano, but unfortunately, it doesn't fit well. The strength of the sound of a piano is huge and it let's the oud's sound "melt away". All the vibrato and glissandos on the oud can't be "acustically well framed" and appreciated due to the "strength and loudness" of the piano sound (no matter who skillfully played).

I don't know how talented people who know so much about music overlook things like that sometimes, makes me wonder if they really listen and feel music with their soul or just like robots they play just for the sake of playing and that's all. Music have lost its charm and purpose nowadays. By doing this to a song especially a classic one just defeats the purpose of Art and will make the culture loose its charm
