    This is insane! I haven't kept up with FCP lately, and this blows my mind. The ability to add simple rigging and mesh to a 2D image in FCP and animate relatively quickly is incredibly powerful and efficient. As Dylan demonstrated, combining the animation with parallax and other effects can create a pretty convincing 3d animation.
    I've worked with traditional 3D modeling and animation in Blender and other programs which give you much greater flexibility because, well... it's actually 3d, but the cost is that it is very time consuming and has a steep learning curve.
    I'm so excited to try this.

    PSA: don’t go crazy with your nodes, the fewer you have, the easier to animate

    Had to laugh when I heard the “Wilhelm” scream. mPuppet sure looks a lot easier than an animation I had to do in Motion, with each limb as a separate Illustrator layer animating about 15 pieces in each character. While successful each 3-5 second bit took hours.

      Yes!! So glad the sound got caught 😂
      Yeah I can’t believe how ridiculously easy mPuppet is to use. I’ve been wanting to make a video on it for so long! So glad I finally was able to! I can’t imagine how long the method would take that you described, but that’s some serious dedication!

    When I use mPuppet, which I do a lot for various animated stories, I have found the best way is to create the animation and then export a Prores 4444 video with transparency and use that in the timeline. It saves on computing power bigtime!

    Thanks for the awesome video. I downloaded the demo previously and then found out it wasn’t apple silicon ready.
    I’ll certainly use the affiliate link if I pick it up. (Also thinking of Moho since I’m planning using it for animating vector graphics)

    Any way to retain mesh proportions? An arm should stay a certain length, and should be constrained to move around its pivot point for some use cases... so stretching might not be best.

    Hey Dylan, question, for a music video I have a videoclip made by a dashcam inside a car filming the cars in the opposite direction. But there is now 1 car we want to replave by another one. We only have high res images of that new car. We want to make it look as if it's this car from the image is coming towards ours. Is that feasible? If so, what plugin(s) would I need? Thanks!

    For some reason I thought you were stuck with their pre-made corporate memphis characters when I've looked at this in the past. Finding out you can apply it to anything makes it way more useful.

    Hi Dylan
    i'm binge watching your tutorials for past 2 months (incredible work, thanks bro)
    i have a small request for you
    can you tell me how can we do a posterize time effect in fcp or in apple motion
    thanks Dylan

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So glad you’re enjoying the channel!
      This video shows how to publish it as an effect from Motion. It’s called “strobe” instead of posterize time
      th-cam.com/video/TL85Rm9if8g/w-d-xo.html
      If you don’t have Motion, you can pick up my Motion Tools plugin that publishes 100+ tools from Motion to FCP. And strobe is one of those!

    Have you had a chance to compare the FCP puppet plugin with the puppet functions in AE and PS? I like the record feature in AE and how it generates keyframes. PS seems to rely solely on creating individual frames, but I prefer using keyframes on a single clip.

    Woo! An interesting plugin but can't think of a use for it. Also quite expensive. I think it would be easier and less expensive to just push my wife off a cliff! Great tutorial as ever. Scotland loves you!

      $129 - 30% off isn't too bad considering the value of a plug in as a cheap animation tool. I do a lot of work with archival stills and can see a lot of interesting options.

    I got plug-in. Is anyone aware of any issue of it not working correctly with Motion? Things are not where they are supposed to be according to the tutorial. I’ve tried trouble shooting according to their page. I sent them a message. Just waiting on a response.

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Someone else in the comments was mentioning the same issue. I haven’t had time to try it out in Motion yet, but I’ll try and do that.
      It’s possible there’s a bug since it’s such a massive overhaul to get it working on Apple silicon.
