    Congratulations Mom! Very happy for you. Raquel and Ricky, you were so supportive and patient in helping her through the process. What a nightmare. So glad it’s over. Time to celebrate. When are we going to get a tour of your Moms home with the finished renovations? We would love to see it.

    Being a Canadian it’s nice to see a Canadian perspective on Mexican immigration. I have been in contact by email with the Mexican consulate in Toronto in regards to clarifying the requirements. I’m still a little confused though, typical for me as I nitpick a subject to the end! Cheers🍻

      Hi guy’s, it’s certainly confusing that’s for sure! Wishing you all the best for your application and hopefully you will be letting us know that you are successful in the future. Good luck

    Congrats to Mum!!!! Great video guys, we feel your pain! My husband is a Mexican citizen, with PR in US! So we are retiring in PM hopefully this year!🤞🏻 we started getting our paperwork together to get my TR. Well our marriage cert. has my husband’s middle initial on it. So we have to get married again and get his full name spelled out since his passport and everything else has it that way🥺 other issue is I was born on a Army base in Japan, how in the world do I get that apostilled???? Ughhh…..we did pay to have it translated to Spanish. It’s so frustrating 😫 I finally sent an email to Millie last night. She was referred to us by a friend there in PM. Then I see your video today, wow!!! I’m hoping she can help me too! We have spent so much money already and time trying to do it ourselves but it will be worth it in the end!😌 oh thank the Lord we have scanner😛

    • @RickRackTravels
      @RickRackTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh Patricia that is so stressful sounding. I think that is wise to reach out to Milly. I wonder if you can get a declaration stating your husband is the same person on your marriage certificate without having to be remarried ? Milly will know. When we were waiting outside immigration for my mom and chatting with some folks there were some unsuccessful applicants coming out of the office who were navigating the system on their own . After waiting months for an appointment- that would be horrible. We were happy to work with Milly. Wishing you well with the process.

    I have heard that it would be easier to get my papers done in Mexico through my son. Rather then starting them here through my husband in USA and finishing them in Mexico. Any info on this??

    • @RickRackTravels
      @RickRackTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For us it was easier to use the family unification program here in Mexico. My mom did not have to provide financial information or get an appointment at a consulate out of country - so for those two reasons alone, we felt like this was the best process for her. Thanks so much for watching and wishing you the best of luck on receiving your residency

    Hi Rick and Raquel! Great informative video. Raquel, are you able to apply for your permanent residency from within Mexico after having the temporary residency?

    • @RickRackTravels
      @RickRackTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello ! Yes, I can apply for my PR this year from within Mexico. It reduced the time for me being a temporary resident from 4 years to 2 years using The Family Reunification Program. Thanks so much for watching

    Great video! I'm from California, what does it take to get dual citizenship? I plan on living in Mexico full time, also did you keep your bank account in Canada, did you get a Mexico bank account to transfer funds. I heard is very difficult to import a car from California or Canada for Mexico plates, you need a custom’s agent (called an agente aduanal) to help? Thank you!

    • @RickRackTravels
      @RickRackTravels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Brad, first let's address dual Citizenship. We are not Mexican Citizens but we are Residents of Mexico which is similar to Permanent Residents living in Canada but do not hold a Canadian Passport. There are two types of residency here in Mexico the first is Temporary Residency and the second is Permanent Residency. It is preferable to become a PR as you never have to renew your status and it has benefits if you are selling a house in Mexico. In most cases if you become a TR it will have to be renewed in four years time but at that point you may have the option of becoming a PR instead. To become a Mexican Citizen there are certain criteria one of which is a good solid grasp of the Spanish language but you will also have to live in the Country for a set period of time. With regards to bringing a car from Canada this is difficult but not impossible. You would have to be issued a Temporary import license which will need to be renewed at the border every six months. It will also be difficult to sell your car in Mexico in the future. It should also be noted that if you become a PR of Mexico you cannot be issued a TIP to bring your car only TR of Mexico can be issued a TIP. Regarding banking we have Mexican accounts but retain an account in Canada. There are certain banks that will let you open an account on a tourist visa, FMM but it will be much easier to open an account if you have either TR or PR status. We are not really experts in Citizenship nor importing of vehicles but we can only give you advice based on what we have learned from others on these subjects. We strongly advise that you check out Qroo Paul's TH-cam channel called Two ExPats Mexico. Paul covers the topics that we are discussing in a much more in depth way and gives excellent advice. He speaks Spanish fluently and has a very good grasp of Mexican laws. We hope this helps you somewhat and good luck with your upcoming move. Thank you for your comment!
