John calling Brooke ‘the lady of the lake’ went so under the radar but was so brilliant
Adam agreeing with Isaac at the end was a brilliant way for him to turn the fact that everyone was already convinced he was bad into his favour.
21:00 These sorts of silly improv moments are why I enjoy NRB playthroughs so much, where you take a fundamentally dry rules-based game that focuses on social deduction & inject some RP into it. It runs the risk of derailing a game, but I enjoy it so much, be it Jon's in-flight movie reviews in Pandemic, Sullivan's kissing-adjacent Liberal policies in Secret Hitler, naughty gnome trade union debates in Saboteur, or mad fun like the Billiard Boys in Blood in the Clocktower. It totally makes these games for me.

Ahh, nothing like a game of medieval Secret Hitler with a side of Brooke falling into a toilet.
They never mentioned, but I think it was pretty obvious that Isaac was Merlin at the end there and it was a really tough spot for him to be honest! He came up with some good logic, but unfortunately it's difficult as Merlin to push hard for the good team in the last quest without obviously outing yourself and losing anyway.
As someone else mentioned, needing all 4 good players in the final round, he should have been crying to get himself in (as should everyone else). Wouldn’t work per se but makes logical sense at least. He *has* to be on that mission.
I’d love to see these guys play a full session of incredibly low-stakes D&D.

I feel the great strength of Board Game Club is you have to watch every episode lest you fall 7 in jokes behind....
I once fell into the toilet when I was 6 and very sleepy. I don't believe these things are comparable to Brooke's regular trips to the vacation toilet.

I face palmed in the last game. Isaac buddy, you need 4 good people on the last mission to win. There are only 4 people in the game. So if you are good and not on the mission you should be fighting to get put on it. True it might not have made a difference. In any event loved the episode. Social deduction games are amongst my favorite games. Full disclosure I have made my own dumb mistake playing Avalon. I was merlin and when the game runner asked out loud at the end "Who was Merlin?" of course directing that at the evil team , my hand shot straight up in the air , I tried to save it but it was definitely too late
I ALWAYS fail the first mission. Once I convinced someone else they put in the wrong card. I love these games.
Yep, you probably won’t be taken on another quest but the game plays out so much differently with an early failure. Gotta sow the distrust and get the early failures
So according to this game, Jon and Blair are evil 100% of the time.

I can't believe I requested this last week and here it is! You guys are the best. Also, I never thought of playing it as a story telling game. I'm going to do that from now on. One small quibble - the team leader doesn't have to choose themselves for the team. (They probably should, but they don't have to.)
At 52:58, when Jon says that he can be left out, it is a proof that he is red. Since it is the last quest, that you need 4 successes and there is only 4 blues, all of them have to be in it. Not wanting to be in is not a blue move. QED

After having just watched CBW I want to watch a series of Tom being a DM
In our group, the meta is to reject most mission proposals. Group proposals and voting patterns give you information, so having more of that is usually better for good. I was really surprised to see them accept almost every group.
They do this in every social deduction game. It typically doesn't work out for team good.
FYI If you reject 5, team evil wins
Best memory of The Resistance (Avalon but cyberpunk, basically the same game except for Merlin), we played a Blind Traitors variant with 7 players (so 3 traitors). I was a traitor and on the first mission, and had the idea to fail the first mission. Some of you know where I'm going with this: turns out the other mission member was another traitor and we double-failed.
Found out at the end of the game that the person who sent us on the mission was the third traitor.
10/10 best game

Nice to see you guys playing this game. We used to play the same game all the time through out high school with regular playing cards. The biggest bunch we had was like 10-11 people with a lot of special roles. Good memories

With one swing of his hammer, Jon slays the foul beast, or maybe fights to a draw.
They enter the tower climbing up the stairs and find
A gelatinous beast! With quick wits and a flick of the wrist Noble Sir Adam douses the cube in bleach slaying it and whitening the castle steps.
Lastly
King Sullivan makes it to the top door of the tower. He opens it and finds a room with a large toilet. The lovely lady Brooke yelling for help, well, maybe just asking but the porcelain has good acoustics.
King Sullivan reaches with all his might down the toilet. Lady Brooke jumps and their hands meet and the mission to rescue lady Brooke was a success!
Yes, I've been waiting for this! Lets see who is the terrible traitor!

I'd prefer Dead Of Winter or BattleStar Galactica for the role-play aspect, but they are both much longer games
I always reject missions I'm not on, as I know a good character isn't on it, or I pretend a good character isn't on it.
Brooke's "I'm going to take everyone!" made me think she was a little like hobbit muppet type creature who was on the Round Table who was just so chipper and happy, but didn't really have a clue on how to get sh*t done XD

Oh, that last night hurt me. As soon as you saw 5 approvals you knew the quest was lost -- there is no reason for good to approve a final mission if they are NOT on the team.
the evil team needed to reject right away. they couldn't recover after the first quest they bluffed on.

Gonna assume Issac was Merlin in that last one but couldn't over play his hand otherwise he would've easily been sniped by the baddies. A tough but fun game to navigate, gonna get my mates to try this one for sure

My grandmother once told the story that my Mum fell into the toilet once, granted my Mum was 4 or 5 at the time, so Hell knows heaven suspects how Brooke can do it.

Seems like only taking 2 people in the first round weighs this heavily in favour of the good team, but it was fun to watch.
That's a flaw with the online version. You are never required to pick yourself. It's important because if you don't want the votes to fail 5 times and it's gotten to you and no one trusts you (meaning they would reject a 5th time), you can pick other players to get your team the point for this round.
Was hoping at least one of the games would introduce more variants! They are what make Avalon that much more exciting

Growing up sharing a bathroom with three brothers I'm sure I've fallen into the toilet seven times, but I didn't count how many times.

It seems he is. His reasoning was also logical, Blair on the 4th quest had to suceed (i mean, one failure would only harm evil team) so she was not cleared. But what it points clear to it is that if another player were Merlin, that player would jump to support Isaac's logic (his logic was so solid that Adam agreed instead of fighting it, so Merlin could have support that without outing himself)

See how goofy these quests were? This is why NRB has to eventually give in and run a D&D campaign. I'd be happy with just a brief three-hour one-off at this point.

I once played a game of DnD where my cohort played my brother in game. Tensions got high because my brother was running off on his wife and I was slowly being consumed by a demon. Of course we ended up coming to blows- the problem is that he was a wizard and I was a sorcerer. We punched at each other for at least fifteen minutes, during which one point of damage was dealt to me. That was the total damage from the fifteen minute fight.
If Adam and Sully actually went out to fight in the woods I imagine it would be something like that.
On the toilet issue: almost guaranteed that Sully leaves the seat up. Falling into the toilet happens to many women who sit down expecting a seat that isn't there. By the time we realize that there's nothing to sit on, it's too late.
I grew up in a household of many women so I can confirm I never leave the seat up purely through muscle memory now!

Dumb question let say I Merlin and I know there bad guys on quest but it the first second quest can fail the quest to throw off the bad guys and see who reacts and that give good guy info that someone bad on that quest
