  • In this segment from The Henry Ford's Innovation Nation, Mo Rocca meets with chief curator Marc Greuther to learn more about water power and the historic waterwheel at Greenfield Village, and their significance in the development of today's modern hydropower.
Waterwheels have been used for thousands of years, primarily to grind corn or wheat. They were sometimes used for irrigation as well. When a waterwheel rotates, it gives mechanical power to the gears and axles of any kind of mechanism.
Innovative thinking led to the industrialization of this ancient concept with hydropower plants.
