    Once in a lifetime do you see a great artist, but the true value isn't
    Reached until after they are lost to the world.
    I think he did a lot more work no one has ever seen. And truly beautiful art he painted over.
    Canvas wasn't cheap.
    So an artist took what they didn't think was good and painted over it.

    This is unintentionally sad. It makes Picasso sound like the boy who never grew up. Into his 90's. he desperately tried to show the world that he was still virile, still spontaneous, still relevant.
    Contrast that with other artists who do show aging and maturity in their works.

      @@RetroAP It didnt take him 4 years to "grow up" ( paint like Raphael )... His father was a painter and from a small age Pablo was in touch with painting. My point is that it took him much more years to learn to paint like a classical master.

    Its talking about assets not about massage of work. Picasso is not a joke he is not only a artist he is the great scoller and thinker of our time. It's disgusting to match the work ancidents and farms to other Artists other painter other portraits. If have not third eye keep silent and enjoy the work of Pablo Picasso. One life is not enough to read the messages , thoughts and values of Picasso's work. So please don't try to make fool to fans of PICASSO the great. Because the difference of watching and the difference of reading is very clear here.

    It's obnoxious explanation like this that make people dislike art.
    Artist are NEVER thinking about all genres of art when they choose the color red. Awareness and thought are not linked in anyway. Artists are in a state of awareness when working. Artist don't think, we observe.

    He wasn't looking at the old masters for inspiration he was looking for LSD to dream up his art his brush strokes are visible in every painting and you can clearly see his lack of artistic skills his talents lay in line and color use

      You should do more research on Picasso's history and artistic POV. He can paint just as great as the greats, but he wanted to push the limits and break the rules in creativity.

    Oooorrrr . . . the "power and virility" in a man nearing the end is, perhaps, the hallmark of somebody living in denial. At any rate, if we are looking for a profound statement on the human condition for anyone who has nothing left to look forward to but life's end, we needn't look for it in Picasso. You heard it here first.

      @@WALDENSOFTWARE "Is this the best expression?" Is a question I always ask of a piece. Any piece. Compare this piece to, say, Rembrandt's Self Portrait with Two Circles which deals with some of the same questions and Picasso comes up lacking. Mannerist even, in a way.

      Try painting and following his style. Although it looks like sketches and easy one tone colours... It's actually quite hard to paint that. More or less we are frightened to even paint with so much strength and colours, because we might think it'll look unrealistic. But mind you too... Back then, there were no internet too. And seeing a man that could paint/draw nicely (he paints and draw realistically too, u can Google his previous works), creating a new type of art genre, cubism, etc...

      Realism is too easy ( basic skills) even but to find new effect of aesthetics with different techniques and style is not that easy, it's next level.

    What a load of horseshit. This guy is bending over backward to flatter Picasso’s late work - which is uniformly terrible. At this point Picasso was raging against death and was generating 15 or 20 paintings a day. Just filling in every empty canvass in sight. Picasso was a a mammoth talent that created a phenomenal body of work, but his late work is flat out bad.
