I've been waiting for this. It's very insightful specially for the last part. Thank you for bringing in great guests Stevie! More episodes of Banker After Dark
Deeply appreciated. That is why it will be a limited series as there are a finite amount of guests I can invite and would rather do no show rather than a mediocre or bad one.
I can recall having casual conversations about fundraising when Nori and I used to bump into each other in the Cathay Pacific Lounge at NAIA as we did our weekly commute back to Hong Kong (which is where Stephen and I first got to know each other too!)
While our country is consumed with politics, corruption and bickering, our neighboring countries are busy enticing investors to setup shop locally. Take for example Indonesia's law requiring products sold locally must have 35% local content. Apple is now forced to setup $1Billion plant in Indonesia to produce airtags. This is the kind of legislation that our lawmakers should keep busy on, not wholly consumed with politics and enriching themselves.
He is right about working nowadays as a young person. His example about his kids was about Investment Banking work but I think it could be said for all types of corporate work here. It is just more complicated now vs. Before. People also don't stay longer anymore too at jobs. After learning, the move on to the next better opportunity.
Im in my 20s, my generation favors more work life balance so we can do other things outside of the work (hobbies, businesses, and spending time with family or love ones). Invstment Banking will make you pull 100 hours a week so i think its also one of the factors there. In addition, there are so many options to do, we have tech which favors you to do remote

the problem in our country is the lack of PE and VC firms willing to risk their money to fund start ups
He should help advice the MIF.
Or maybe MIF could invest in the companies Navegar invests in
Many thanks
Dayum Blackstone funded your equity firm! Blackstone wants to definitely invest in the Philippines!
BO’s cofee is making money? 😂
Snarky but ignorant comment
