Derek is second to none. Watching Alkaline on tour with another drummer was rough. I know the dude played for MCR and Matt Skiba and the Sekrets but damn, Derek's absence was felt big time! Absolute inspiration. Shit the first time seeing him on the Warped Tour 2002 DVD was mind-blowing! Derek is too damn good!

Jarrod is a fantastic drummer and I'm sure he was great on the Trio tour, but it's hard filling in for someone else - I know from playing with The Vandals for over two decades! Expectations are high and people can be really critical so you feel like you have to prove yourself every night. I'm grateful that he stepped in while I was away, but I'm glad to be back behind the kit
