      @@Team_Banchamek Not easier per definition, sooner the opposite. Girls have more hindrances than guys. But its easier to get into the top of female sports, to be counted as a grandmaster. Because there are fewer top girls, and so, less of tought opposition along the way too, yes I do agree in this with you.

    I was able to spar with her at our hometown back in Estonia this month. Got told: look out for high-kicks. I was like sure, she's like 30cm shorter than me. 10 seconds into first round i got question-mark kicked to the head. Never been humbled so fast in my life. She's a beast. Keep in mind i have practiced muay thai for only about 6 months. Was a great honor to spar with her and a pleasure to watch her train.

    Interesting to see them training for what to do, if opp catches her kick. Normally tis potentially a big disadvantage if you got your leg catched. She trains to use this moment as an offensive weapon! She either uses the moment for an elbow strike, or a punch, or do climbs upon the opponent! I dont know if kneeing in the face Boran Show-style are allowed in Muay proper. But if nothing else, getting to carry her tires out the opponent, and gives a psychological disadvantage.

    Interesting to watch the footwork of accomplished strikers. I've been trying to make small adjustments to my karate footwork instincts as I learn BJJ, wrestling, and other clinch techniques. I also realize that karate likely contained much more grappling originally than what we ended up receiving from our teachers during the 70's, 80's, and 90's here in the States. So, I'm trying to reclaim some of that which seems to be coded into the traditional forms....

    • @peterbenjaminmusic
      @peterbenjaminmusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@victorthong2778 Yes, I watched his video on how the Japanese adoption of karate removed most of the grappling from the Okinawan tradition in order to emulate western boxing. That's interesting to me since the result seems to be that karate striking on balance has less effective hand striking technique (when applied to, say, MMA) than boxing, and less effective grappling than judo or jiu jitsu. Oops...

But in response, rather than just, "wow, pretty girl fights good," we see in some responses that testicles shrivel up and hide as manly men speculate on beating up a small, 20-year old woman who is living the kickboxing dream. ,good baseball bat like kicks, non choreographed powerful hooks, devastating elbows and knees, forceful push kick. Control on the clinch.But as a kickboxer. I realized her jab she snaps it out fast ,but needs to withdraw it quicker she leaves her self open with it. Her straight right is snappy too ,but needs more hip trunk twist to put torque behind it . Love her style though she’s kickass for sure. I’ll be looking more into her to watch her fight and see how she applys those skills to win.

    I've seen several of Marie's fights and the one criticism I'd say is that she needs to up her defense and keep her chin tucked in and move her head off the center line when she throws. She left herself open against Anita Karim and got hit with a lot of counter punches. Granted, Karim, may have been on 'roids and she seemed to have an inordinate amount of power.
    But the best thing for a fighter to do is to correct their defense as early as possible in their careers because it becomes almost impossible to do the older they get. You can always get a fighter to up their offense, but defense is, trust me, a LOT harder to re-train, because in Muay Thai there's this tradition of basically staying stationary and duke-ing it out with your opponent until one of you falls, and too many fighters simply absorb too much punishment that way, and the list of popular fighters who've ended up with
    Otherwise, I've seen her personal videos and she has a winning personality, and with any luck she'll have a long career and can go far, especially if she also cross-trains in MMA, as strictly from a financial point of view, that's where the real $ is, and the long term effects of CET (Chronic Encephalopathy Trauma) are devastating and don't show up 'til ten or twenty years later.
    You only have to look at fighters like Pride's "Big Daddy" Gary Goodridge who was one of the scariest fighters in Pride Fighting Championship (Japan's fighting championship before it was bought out by the UFC) to see how many blows he took as he moved up in caliber against someone like Gilbert Yvel to see that eventually, every fighter's luck eventually runs out.
    The really smart ones, Like Georges St. Pierre or Floyd Mayweather have great defense and retired before they were ever ko'ed or took much damage, but Muay Thai is the most brutal of the martial arts, ESPECIALLY in Thailand where judges are loathe to stop even one sided fights even if one fighter is absorbing too much punishment.
    Okay, that's enough from me. Thanks Larry for posting this.

      I admit this is just what I was thinking when I watched. She has good power in her kicks, etc. However, when punching I noticed that she seemed to leave herself too open at times, as though she's not afraid that her opponent will take advantage of that. A shorter, more muscled opponent could do lots of damage that way and it's a bit worrisome. Her coach should be not only pointing that out, but also countering her kicks with a bit more than the light tap he seems to be giving her, in order to spur her to counter and/or strengthen her stance.

    She very well might be able to beat me up. I wish that when I was her age(I'm 42), we realized that Muay Thai, and Dutch Kickboxing were head and shoulders above most traditional striking arts. The kids are lucky to have a more clear view of what works and what doesn't in a fight.
