Built in webcams are mostly rubbish. If videochat is your thing, you wont decide to buy a laptop based on the built in webcam. You’ll buy a separate webcam so your picture is clearer and better.
You can't power on the new laptop computer (first time to open) without cable charger connected. It's not a fault and just a feature for all new laptops.

so far my D14 worked great. less than 4 secs bootup each time, 2secs on hibernate. No problem yet, sleek, light. Hidden webcam is good for privacy/spy issues.

Every laptop computer should give the buyer the chance to either hide the webcam or not instead of forcing it to put a peace of tape to cover it. I love this laptop specifically for this reason. Even some hp computer give you that option
regarding the screen, and the way it flips. It's really handy if you have a stand, where you put the notebook in, to make the screen as vertical as possible. (I have a mac stand, that you can put in the notebook almost vertical. So the screen is the same height, as my additional monitors. Problem here is, the webcam won't be pointed at your face.

@techadvisor am I the only one who's thinking about the loud fan noise? I just bought this laptop and I can't stop to notice the noise from it, which is quite annoying even when you just watch a movie or surfing on some regular websites.
We haven't noticed that on our laptop, but we haven't pushed it to do anything too intensive yet either - mostly just web browsing etc. We'll be benchmarking it properly soon though and putting it through some more intense work to see if that causes problems, but for just web surfing we haven't had that issue - Dom
Mine has the same problem. The fan starts doing its thing as soon as i have 2-3 tabs open. But thats not the bad thing. The bad thing is the high pitched noise the fan makes next to the normal fan noise. Have you had the same experience? Did you replace the matebook? If yes, did the new one have the same problem?

To turn on for the first time, you don't actually need to press the power button, just plug the charger and wait a little, it will automatically turn on and for the fist setup, mentioned in the user manual, I have the Honor magic book 14, which is just like a renamed

Nice review!! The flat screen chasis option can be used to share content with people around or in front of you, just by using the 90º screen rotation system of Windows. I've used it in meetings; it's a bit weird and unusual, but practical.
I have always been a fan of Ryzen processors and they are great. Im glad that huawei put them in their laptops. This D14 looks great. Perfect laptop for work and the price is good.

Yeah it won't really affect this laptop! The laptops still run Windows just like normal, so you don't lose any functionality - it's a different situation to the phones. - Dom
the D14 is a good notebook but the Matebook 14 14 “with a 3: 2 display is the far better device. The display of the D14 isn't really bad, but the Matebook 14 with the glossy 2160x1440 display is fantastic
Is it normal for the usb c (charger port) to have abit I’d wiggle: up and down movement when it’s plugged in. Mine locks in securely but i can wiggle it about particularly up and down. Is this normal?
For programming, I recommend a higher res screen to fit multiple pages of code on at once. I use the Mate book X pro which has a 3:2 screen (more vertical space for lines of code) but have previously used the mate book 13.
They're very similar! Basically only differences are size (which is up to your preference) and whether you'd rather bigger battery (14) or the option of an extra hard drive (15). Personally I'd go for the 14, but I tend to prefer smaller laptops! - Dom

I understand why they put the bigger battery in the smaller device, as that is most likely going to be used on the road. Few of us take a 15-inch out and about so less need for a bigger battery. Though I still think they could have put a big battery in the 15-inch just for spec sake to make it more sellable? I have an older version and they are excellent laptops.

The D15 fits an 2,5 inch HDD, the D14 doesn`t . That`s the reason why the battery inside the D15 is smaller even that the chassis is bigger.

I think the 180° screen angle it's mostly for use an external monitor. At that angle you don't be distract it by the laptop monitor.
