Two things:
1) 500 ft home runs are definitely special and are not common at all.
2) The wall being 500 feet everywhere is possible. Imagine home plate being the center of the circle. The radius would be 500 feet
He means during the home run derby, because this year especially their were at least 10+ home runs of 500+. I was there as an out field shagger for proof of knowledge

@@joathankarey991 HRD was in coors at over 5000 ft altitude. This stadium is at 0. Hitting a ball 500 ft at 0 altitude is basically impossible
@@seaversheets7436 of the 10 longest HRs recorded by StatCast only 2 were in Colorado. The farthest was 505 and was hit at Globe Life field in Arlington Texas which has an elevation of 278ft
Elevation makes a huge difference, my farthest home run at Coors field is 546 and my farthest everywhere else is 475

3:56 you got to thinking? Not very hard lol... 500 ft all corners would make the walls a perfect circle... take a 5 inch piece of string (500' wall distance) and tape it to one point (homeplate). Draw a 90° angle centered on home plate, that gives you left field right field foul lines. Now take a ✏ and tie it to the end of the string and draw a line while keeping the string stretched to 5 inches and you will now have ¼ of a circle drawn where every point is the same distance from the home plate. That is a simple way to understand your 500' not straight wall conundrum.

@@troyjagga3828 if the outfield fence was a straight line across like the video eluded too because it was all 500 ft away that would mean he thought it should be shaped like a triangle but since the fence is 500 feet away at all points of the game then that means the fence is a perfect quarter circle. In fact if the fence was perfectly straight from left to right foul poles then center field would be the closest fence to the plate.... in this case thinking would have been much easier with a picture but I tried giving the original poster of this video a walk through explaining how the fence was 500ft the whole way around.

i just wanna point out that your math is wrong, it’s the distance from home plate so because it’s one center point and not a line, the wall would have to curve in to be an equal distance from home plate

It’s 500 foot around because it’s shaped like part of a circle. Draw a line from home plate to the outfield wall and that is the radius of the circle (500ft).

Did the part where he was talking about the wall not being a straight line make anyone else cringe? It’s called a radius, dude. In order for the wall to be the same distance all the way around, it would have to be round. A straight line fence would be closer to home plate in dead center field and further away at the corners.
If you turn the altitude to about half of where it was, you could probably at least hit the wall

I tried a home run derby on MLB 21 for PS4 at polo grounds, and I can confirm, that it’s essentially impossible (at least for ps4 mlb the show 21) to hit a home run to center field lol. I had the two best bats MLB the show 21 has, which was Hank Aaron, and Babe Ruth (kinda funny how they don’t put in like mark
McGuire or Barry bonds for example due to their PED use, that should be an option, to juice your players lmao)
When you started talking about how “the stadium isn’t a square but it’s still 500ft to left field center field and right field” I think you forgot how a radius works. Think about a round pizza. From the center point of the circle, the distance to the edge of the circle is the same all the way around. Then you cut a slice of that pizza. The radius from the point of the slice to the edge which is the crust is still the same all around the slice. This stadium is just a perfect slice of pizza, so yes it’s going to be round

Yea I would rock you in a simulation or competitive mode match on hall of fame or legend. Playing pinpoint pitching and pure analog batting with stride. Pure analog throwing. It’s like getting on Fifa and not being able to find any ranked matches with all assists off in passing, shooting, etc. I can never find a simulation game on fifa. It’s sad that this generation of people don’t even care to attempt the games hardest settings.

It’s not more than 500 foot because if it was a straight line it would get deeper down the corners. It’s round because it’s 500 feet from home plate all the way around.
