Haha that's my daddy! These pilots and everyone involved in the U2 program are just so inspiring and amazing. Their families, their dedication, everything. Solum volamus.
I used to maintain these aircraft for 16 years (10 at Beale AFB and 6 at Patrick AFB). This video brings back some fond memories of those times. Thanks!
This was great, seeing the patch of the 9th Wing, which was based at Mountain Home AFB when I "was born in a barn" as Mom said the expectant mothers could watch the sand and sagebrush blowing by through the cracks between the boards of the base hospital. That's why my brother was delivered at the town hospital two years later. Dad was a KC-97 navigator, TDY at Ben Guerir AB, Morocco at the time. No wonder I feel so close to the Christmas story of the manger! High desert, sheep, sage... and the 400' tall sand dune nearby. Thanks!
I used to live out by far west lake, and everyday was an air show. I loved it. Especially as a kid. the U2 pilots would wave at us when coming in for landing.
2, 3rds of California prophetic for my from right before I was baptized on September 5th 1982 to my college graduation of May 23, 2019 here in California. Terrill TC!
Absolutely love the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation Advanced Development Projects "Skunk Works" U-2S Dragon Lady along with the older models, the Lockheed "Skunk Works" SR-71A and SR-71B Black Birds, Lockheed "Skunk Works" A-12 and M-12 Archangels, and the Lockheed "Skunk Works" D-21 Drones! These are all awesome aircraft but only the U-2 is still flying! The U-2 will always be a favorite of mine and hopefully the United States Air Force will keep em flying! Love the 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Beale Air Force Base, California!! Flying into the Stratosphere at 70,000 feet, the U-2S is the highest flying manned plane in the USAF! 🇺🇸♠️🍺🌎🔮
With the modernizing of the equipment over the years, was this to eliminate potential secrets from getting leaked if shot down, or purely to carry more equipment and send images back via signal, rather then store?
I once heard that U-2 and Blackbird pilots during their high altitude flights sometimes as they cruised near or over thunderstorms saw lightning shoot out into space! The phenomena was felt to be unheard of and the pilots would generally not report these instances so that they wouldn't generate doubts as to their competence;ei experiencing high altitude hallucinations.
Damn they say on the edge of space looks like it is in space how is it possible that a plane like that could go to the edge of space in like 1960 or something idk I’m probably sooo wrong but idk just imagine what’s being made now
I will fly this thing one day. I need several hundred more flight hours first though. Hope this program will still be around by then. What an amazing opportunity.
Tamming Heaven all I had to do was be a little second grade child on his way to be baptized on September 5th 1982 then from there to my college graduation. Ezekiel 48:35 the scripture used. Terrill TC!
With annual US defence costs equivalent to Australias GDP, its good to see these aircraft evolving into other roles in an environment where any first world country will no longer be the enemy. The mission to overfly Haiti is terrific.
I saw a U-2 in the air once on approach. 50 yrs later still the most impressive thing in the sky I have ever seen. And I am a jaded “Air Force Brat”.

Excellent Job! Enjoyed the program. Proud to be a American with such magnificent people.🇺🇸💪🌬️🌀🏇✈️
Air Force should do a lot more of these videos. If this was the public affairs office….kudos to you guys
Excellent video - very well done, informative and inspiring! Great work - thx for sharing :-)

That U2 landing on the carrier was amazing I have never seen that before. What a great aircraft. Thank goodness for Kelly Johnson
Thank you TB for your service. You are AWESOME.

Wow, this is great!
Amazing and Cool vid, thanks for putting this on-line !
O avião.u.2. Foi feito para voar na camada da estratosfera, nem um outro pode fazer isso.é incrivel..
Proud to have been a contributor. I too felt small above 70K' looking down at home.
@Rafael Leão What is your Dragon Lady # ? I don't believe we met.
Lovely presentation; thanks.
I really like these videos, Keep them up!
Got a love that fisheye lens!!

Such a cool plane
Friggin awesomeness.👍
Incredible video!

I worked for a while with U2 pilots on RAF Akrotiri. A bunch of cool guys taking their job very responsibly.

Very nice.

Considering the fact that the U-2 is still equipped with its wet-film camera, probably both.
Way to go guys! Huggy as always you are the man! I know Tom misses all of the brotherhood as do I. Cheers to you all!
My friend Jeff Grover was a U2 pilot at Beale Air Force base
很厉害的高空侦察机,我曾经在博物馆见过被导弹打下来的残骸,飞机真大!
Thank you Beall...Thank you Lockheed. Best Lady in the sky.
Bless you guys .Thanks for the knowledge and for protecting us In the Good Old USA .
☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️💯
My best friend's Dad flew those. Super guy.
I think the first cable of the arresting gear during a pitching deck carrier landing is the hardest aircraft in the world to land.

i think there was a nova episode about it and the people who researched it on the ISS.
I forgot of where I first heard of it. But that NOVA program might have been it too. Thanks.
half of the ufo sightings in 1960s was the u2 ? then what is the other half

I used to live at Beale!
How is Beale Air Force base? I'm trying to get stationed there.
What song is this?
Above all...oh wait, there goes an SR-71 12,000-20,000 ft above us...
At one point plenty of years ago, but not now

im gonna fucking fly this plane
01:51 The Kremlin lol. Just show Moscow knows America is watching.
Wow if the Wright brothers could see planes now I'm in amazement and I live in the century
Crazy to think this took flight closer to the Wright brothers than it did to now... And it's still flying!
I think Beale actually has 11 now.

This is all "round earth" propaganda!!! LOL.
