@@torquecanyon8424 sadly I’ve run into a couple of issues. These are the EXP version and the engagement/release is not good. Might be only due to too heavy a grease, but it is still annoying. Also, the spokes loosen up constantly. I am only 175cm/65kgs and ride a Santa Cruz Hightower with a trail-oriented style - I ride almost daily (have two other bikes - this one gets one to two rides per week), but am disappointed in these. I have two other wheel sets on my other bikes which I built (king hubs, dt revo spokes, dt brass nips, nextie rims) and these have been far superior in terms of reliability, performance and lack of general maintenance.
@@skibum1976 The EXP ratchet sucks and from what I've heard it is not working well. It also means that upgrading to 54t or 60t is not possible unlike on the original Star Ratchet hubs. You will notice that DT has just released the new 240 DEG hub with larger diameter, 80t toothing, and they've gone back to previous design where two ratchet rings are supported by springs. That for me is a clear indication the EXP system was a bad idea.
@@kovalDESIGNbikesI did change out from 36 to 54 and it works fine. I cleaned out the factory grease and put a lighter one in there. Runs a touch on the loud side, but otherwise pretty good.

Hi, I really love all your product and been using them for many years now, but one thing I'm hoping in the future that you'll also consider to increase the points of your hubs engagement, instead of only up to 54 why not make it higher poe. Thanks
What about weight of XRC1700 spline 30 mm carbon, those info are on Canyon Exceed CF SLX 8.0 model. I can't find any info about those wheels on net? Weight?

oems like canyon use their purchasing power to custom order cheaper parts. they for example use cheaper forks named like the expensive version. so i assume they wanted the cheapest carbon wheels

HI and thank you for your message. What do you mean with pawl? Our 240 hub is a ratchet free hub system hub which will not have any pawls but ratchets instead. The all new 240EXP we use for example in the 1501 SPLINE wheels will have 36t ratchets. Stay healthy, Friso "DT Swiss".
Regarding the 1501 carbon wheels - can I safely remove all paint marking on their rims by myself? I want them to be anonymous. Totally black and nothing more. May it be an option to make a special order for them without the white painting? These are not stickers on the rims I resume. All these paintings disturb the blackness of my mtb bike simply.
Hi Justyna and thank you for your message. If you would like to check our warranty regulations, then you will recognize that this would affect your warranty. The decals we're using are so called "Waterslide Decals", which are baked with the surface. Removing them could damage the rim surface ( abrasive or chemical ), which can lead to a rim failure in a longer perspective. Stay healthy, Friso "DT Swiss".

There is a new fair share policy that applies for all carbon wheels from model year 2020, sold after 01.01.2020, giving them additional lifetime warranty on the carbon rim. I just bought the EXC1501 - price / performance is very hard to beat. Only downside is why not build these with the 54 tooth star ratchet?
