These classic or old fashioned coolers require old fashioned habits such as taking care of your equipment as if it's the last one you'll ever buy and not abusing it or using it for purposes not intended. Why do you need a warranty on a $50 item? You get your money's worth just using it half a dozen times. Your criticism is fair game but that's why it's cheap. Camping was once the cheapest way for modest income families with 3.4 children to enjoy the great outdoors. Now its glamping not camping with overpriced but stylish Yeti items. Ordinary items now cost 5x to 10x more to be driven to a park in a $45,000 SUV. No one in the 1950s cared if their coolers were stylish. 1970s brought designer blue jeans now we have designer camping items. It's really sad when you consider how families struggle just to keep a roof overhead. Thanks for the video. I will buy one just because its functional, plain jane and I'll compensate for any short comings, ie putting some foam into the cup holders.

Another idiot people like you are the reason companies make rubbish items as you are a typical throw away society

I've had this cooker you for I think more than 10 years. I'm a camper and beach guy and between my friends and I, we've tried all kinds of equipment in decades of camping. We always go to Coleman. Functional cup holders. Strong. Can be used as a seat. Well insulated. It's a keeper.

I've had the silver version for about thirteen years and have had none of the issues you described. I think mine is the larger version (doesn't have wheels) and takes two to carry it when it's full.. Used it boating & camping, brilliant. I'm sure there are better coolers out there but this one does the job for me. Thanks for your video.

Does it keep your shit cold? Does it hold up under normal operating conditions? If the answer is yes to both of those things, why does it matter if it has the brand name stamped on the bottom that you're never going to see?

Why are we comparing a $400 yeti to a $50 coleman?

I have two Coleman Xtreme coolers. Yes, they are great coolers and I've had them 10+ years, and they have served me well and still use them. However these are real problems. My top 3 issues are the lack of latches, gaskets and no screw in water spout. Spout never leaked, but I'm always checking it. It has spilled out from the top from lack of gaskets on my last day driving home and water sloshed or the top and got car wet. Despite these flaws, it's still a good inexpensive cooler that will keep ice for 5 days. If and when I buy a new one I'll likely buy a Lifetime.

But what's the smallest quantity of ice it can keep for 5 days?

    Great video, man!
Is the drain plug still sealing 100%? Or after some time it's started to leak?
    Thanks!

If I’m jumping outta of a plane or a chopper into a active battlefield I’ll take the Yeti because it’s price then could be justified. If I’m just going to the beach or on a boat I’ll take the cheaper Coleman all day.

I used almost 2 full cans of spray foam between the cover and the body and the bottom of my Coleman extreme 5 70 quart. Inside a converted school bus with no air-conditioning with fans running it can still get very very warm in the summer. I work during the day so the heat inside the bus doesn’t bother me much. However my cooler since I modified it with the spray foam keeps ice for eight days. If I use dry ice it will keep that even longer.

Great review. I just paid $48 for this so I am happy despite the drawbacks. Also it appears that the US coolers are different or perhaps updated from this design

Had mine at least 12-13 years... not one of your complaints is valid to me except the hinges...banged around a lot in my utility trailer camping and hunting... no way to knock it over with ice in it..kids in and out of it...only thing that happened is one hinge broke..$5 for 2 from Amazon..

#13 Coleman no longer sell the flimsy handles. one of mine is broken so the unit is now useless. Very poor after sales service. I will never buy coleman again
