  • Although I don't do them all the time I do like a nice panoramic image and in todays video I'm shooting panos with a Levelling Base from 3 Legged Thing to see how well it works and if it really does make panos easier. Plus I'm sharing a few of the lessons and pitfalls about panoramas that I've learned over the years
I hope you enjoy the video

Very informative video Ralph, great advice for anyone wishing to take their first panorama. Levelling bases are by far the quickest way to set your camera horizon, I use mine almost exclusively when time is tight. Have a great week 🙏🙏🙏

Great advice Ralph. Levelling devices are an absolute necessity, especially if you are in a hurry and on difficult terrain. I am using a Benro GX serries tripod head and I find it even better as there are two horizontal rotating plates, one at the bottom and one at the top. This way I use the ballhead to level the top plate and then rotate the camera from the top plate rather than the bottom of the head assembly. Saves a bit of weight and the need to buy a separate levelling base.

I like your tip about getting your finger in the first and last shots of the series, in order to identify the beginning and end.

I have a Acratech GP - ss ballhead that eliminates the need for a leveling base. You have to turn it upside down. It weights 380g, perfect for travel. They also have a larger version

Sounds like you got that one free?…..sunway make one a lot cheaper and built quite well.

@@christopherhowell3209 Yes. I always try to make it clear in the videos if I have paid for something or received it in exchange for a review. I also normally include details of anything I don't like about the product (I try to keep my reviews honest regardless of the source of the product) but, for this one, I couldn't find anything I didn't like. I have seen pictures of the Sunway one but have never used it so I can't comment on how they compare. Thank you for watching and commenting
