  • G'day folks. A complete Metal Detecting mystery has me releasing another mid week video. I don't know how I found this silver. Is it ground mineralization? I test the Minelab Manticore with the M8 and M9 coil and also the Equinox 900 with the 6 inch coil to find out.

For those asking, Sids settings are from Sid Perry of Englands history. The settings I’m using are in this video th-cam.com/video/iNpfZG3Ubr8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hZmd90jAUf9BFi-U

I have experienced this a number of times with the 800 and it literally drove me crazy to the point of getting my machine checked. Nothing wrong with the 800, so it left me baffled with a much bigger hole. My conclusion was that it was the universes way of leaving something for some one else.

Great video - be interesting if you dig out the side where the ghosting occurred north- south. Interesting if it’s still there also in a single rather than multi frequency

Very interesting Cbk, thanks for sharing. Maybe Minelab themselves may offer some reason. Would love to hear from them. Well done Buddy & Viv. See you sometime.

I have noticed if you run a iron bias other than 0 you will miss good targets if they are close to iron. Do a simple test and put a nail next to a coin and run a iron bias and you won't pick up the coin.

    Hi Andrew,
maybe it was an iron-masking problem. Your videos are always a jour-fixe for me. Like the exotic (for us antipodians) landscape and wildlife and your dry humor as well .
    Best regards from Austria.

G'day Andrew! I have noticed on occasions that a target can be hidden by a secondary item off to the side, sort of taking the detectors attention away from any other a signal that might be in close proximity, once I've removed the distracting target the other one becomes dominant. It may not have made any difference to the end conclusion, but one thing i didn't see you do, is to redetect the deep sixpence without the interference from the shallower coin. It's just a thought, and probably way off target, so to speak, Anyway, A pleasant surprise to catch you on a Tuesday, Cheers CBK!

This is exactly it. DD coils have sensitive zones on the edges AND down the middle. Anything target touching an edge at the same time as it's touching the target in the middle will distort the machines ability to ID. This is one reason why using coils of different sizes and changing the angle you grid on productive sites is so important. You want to give the targets every chance to line up properly. Technology and settings can help a bit but ultimately if you have a habitation with layers of stuff........you need to clean it out. Loren Lemke has a good video up about this on his channel.

Maybe you picked up the signal on the second one and dug the first one. Or we can just put it down to being lucky. Interesting none the less. Thanks for sharing.

Could be more iron around there notoriously masking the high conductors. I can still here the MCore burping low conductor tones in your vid. Could be a large deteriorating railway spike or similar or even a scattering of screws breaking down about the place. Hard to say for sure without being there. I would dig every burp and pop to be certain though. I would also try single frequencies while I am at it. But you are probably right on mineralisation

i've gotten fond of auto tracking on my 900. ,found a 15" coil wasnt necessary on the field i was in ,it was quite cumbersome (small sticks ,and so on). was looking for military relics (field 1). from WW2. ,have all 3 coils with me. in a sling pack. nox 6" ,11" ,15". explore all the options on the mighty 900. have a good day mr coffee bush.

Hi Andrew, I’ve noticed sometimes silver likes to hide, but once you have removed it from the hole it goes nuts when in the spoil,

Unbelievable , you are a very skilled detectorist to find the first sixpence. Question .. wonder if the would the 6000 find it?

  • @prymek7
    @prymek7 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

it's not a problem of mineralization, it's a problem of the hole that nox and manticore discriminates , it's a hole problem of minelab detectors that people don't know about.

Thanks CBK. So funny, I was wondering did he look for an area with no targets, well no apparently 😂😂😂😂. I wonder if the steel sometimes masks silvers, or obscures it. Very cool test

Very interesting- thanks for taking the time to demonstrate. My guess is that you heard the 6p off to the side, but found the other one first? Must be mineralisation or iron masking that coin. Would have been worth trying the stabilisation on the Manticore in that exact spot, to see if you could hear it? Might be worth trying in the same hole, as I’m sure you’ll be back after
Finding all those sneaky silvers! Thanks CBK!
