- Sean Treacy was one of the leaders of the Third Tipperary Brigade of the Irish Republican Army during the Irish War of Independence. He helped to start the conflict in 1919 and was killed in a shoot out with British troops in Talbot Street, Dublin during an aborted British Secret Service surveillance operation in October 1920. When Tipperary reach an All Ireland final they pay tribute to his memory by saying the decade of the rosary and remembering him at the spot where he was killed.
Was proud to attend this event. Tiobraid Arann Abu
I'm not from Tipperary but I think Sean Treacy was one of the greatest men in the War of Indepence...may he rest in peace and I hope we will always remember him and the men who fought with him
God bless our county and its people
my grandfathe was a member of the 3rd brigade and fought with Sean Treacy.
