    I have the first dj control mix and I have to say, im not a wireless dude been in the dj business since 13 im now 58 and still have my old school reel to reel , tape deck and my 1200's but i was impressed with the dj control mix how it worked with my samsung galaxy ultra and the dj software, very impressive, still not my thing but I just wanna see wat this new one offers.

      Fair enough, it's neat, just not true wireless (and no need anyway, in our view).

    I agree that the 'total wireless' claim is somewhat exaggerated. However, this setup should work well with an inexpensive multichannel USB audio interface to provide stereo master, booth, and headphone outputs.

    The main issue is that achieving optimal results requires a powered USB hub to keep both the USB audio interface and the iOS device (iPad/iPhone) properly powered. Without it most likely iOS would not allow the interface to power up due to power requirements (on lightning interface), or the battery would be drained too quickly (USB-C iOS devices).

    I can see the appeal of this solution, but at that level of complexity, why not opt for something more straightforward? Personally, I enjoy using the Hercules T7 with djay Pro on iOS. It’s perfect for those occasions when you want to play some tunes without lugging around a full DJ setup.

    For those interested, I have a djay Pro playlist on my TH-cam channel filled with tips on integrating djay into an existing workflow and much more.
    Here is the tutorial about using djay iOS with an USB audio interface:

      You hit the nail on the head - what beginner is ever going to do any of that when there are LOADS of controllers with all that built in?

  • @bboymac84
    @bboymac84 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    It’s definitely good to get them out there. They need built in wireless transmitter with low latency!

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Honestly? Built in speaker and a lead to the phone. Beginners would find that easiest to use.

    It says it is the first "wireless" DJ controller..... but what about Alpha Theta's Omnis Duo?

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  วันที่ผ่านมา

      There is no such thing as a wireless controller as nobody has ultra low latency audio out yet.

    • @djmissma
      @djmissma วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ yup. My question in fact is.... Hercules says they were the first one to launch this system... But isn't it similar to the Omnis Duo? (And as you have wisely mentioned... Both still depend on some cables to work... And I guess this is the kind of equipment that one uses for leisure, not for a professional use) 😀

    I've had a ddj 200 for almost 4 years, and it's also my first digital dj equipment, and I always use it with an Android phone and the WeDj app. The dj control itself uses usb from the bluetooth speaker for power, and I transfer the sound from the phone to the bluetooth speaker with a cable. The application works great, the dj control also works great and I can play music anywhere with just a phone and bt speaker for up to 15 hours without stopping. There is a split cable to connect the headphones but it never worked well. This is a variant for a party for a few people in places where there is no electricity and is not for parties with a lot of guests. This is not professional DJ equipment and it has many shortcomings compared to professional equipment and I am sorry that some people think that it is a toy for children just because they were lucky enough to use better quality equipment and think he is quality DJs

      Yes, this is fun for casual DJs, exactly as we say in the piece. But for learning how pro DJs do it, it is too fiddly to get the gear to work in that way, again as we say in the piece.

      Standard behavior for CES… I’d bet more than a few vapor ware things won awards over the years… As far as I am concerned, this thing is “cute” but that is all. It might be fine for practicing sitting in my easy chair with my iPad, this controller and a small speaker but I’m probably not going to use it for much more.

    Seems to me this award has been handed out by people who don't know anything about DJ tech. And you should question the value of these "CES Innovations Awards" anyway when they're spamming a whopping 458 of them in this year's edition alone.

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      458? Really? And yeah, clearly not DJs. But a bit disappointing that Hercules - who know a thing or two about DJing - put out what could be seen as misleading PR for this and people will buy it not really understanding the downsides. At least there's a splitter cable in the box (we checked with them).

      Wow. This just HIT THE NAIL SQUARE ON THE HEAD. I was leading a one man campaign to have them support certain buttons like “Hot Cue” so that I could map the controller such that pressing said button opened a specific panel in their interface. IF I could do that, I could take nearly any class compliant controller and map it pretty seamlessly to dJay Pro.
      IF I was algoriddim, I’d be talking to every controller manufacturer and offer to support their controller line so that it would be plug-n-play and see about trying to make things like jog wheel displays work correctly…
      And I would work on changing the music management bits so that I could run the software on any supported platform using the same collection.
      But I digress… it is a cute controller…
