Thank you for the explanation Brian. hope Damar recovers 🙏
🙏
Yeah, scary. Damar got CPR & cardioversion pretty quick, typically pts make good recovery if treated within first few minutes.
His explanation is b*******.
@Mack Sumner his explanation was actually correct according to medical professionals that treated Hamlin
I had a friend who was in a coma for 3 weeks from a car crash. He is still here to this day. I whole Heartily believe Damar will survive it might not be in a week or 2 weeks but I really think he will wake up & survive a miracle 🙏🏽 Let’s continue to pray.
Yes
Except if it's jab related.
@Don Hughesman Go outside my guy.
Hope your buddy's doing ok man. It's scary how shit like this can happen to anyone at anytime, no matter how healthy or fit you think you are :(
I was watching this game and watched this all unfold in real time. It was horrifying and so incredibly heartbreaking. I really hope he pulls through so he can live a normal life. He's only 24. So so young.
Who else watch this in real?
Maybe we shouldn't have 24 year olds risking their health in the prime of their lives for our amusement? While the old owners make billions, this guy makes less than a few million and he is on the front lines for no reason. Make the owners take these blows. They are getting paid more right?
@Matt Morganwhat?
@Matt Morgan what are you talking about
Vaxed
My daughter had a cardiac arrest during her PE class at school in 7th grade (4 years ago now). Not caused by a hard hit, but a not yet detected heart condition called Long QT Syndrome. Like Hamlin, she had a wrong event happen at the right place. Her school had an AED on site, teachers who immediately performed CPR and knew what to do. EMT got there within minutes also. She was estimated to be down about 6 minutes. She never had to be sedated at the hospital but her recovery was slow. Her 'wakeup' was terrifying. She looked like she was having seizures. Her short term memory and fine motor skills for days/weeks afterwards were not right. Every 2 minutes we had to remind her what day it was and where she was. She couldn't pick up a pencil without dropping it. Doctors explained that the minute the brain is deprived of oxygen, the brain cells begin to die. So effectively, she had brain damage, but luckily she was young and healthy and her cells ultimately recovered. She went on to continue to play sports after having an ICD put in her chest.. I hope the length of time Hamlin was down was not too long and he can make a full recovery, but I expect it will take some time. Prayers for him!
great success story of knowledge and preparedness. Kudos to the decision makers!!!
I didn't know women got that. Hope she is ok
@Jenny Rose you are kidding right? I don't think heart conditions will pick genders. Men generally are in more danger of being afflicted with these but it doesn't mean only men will have these conditions.
Long QT syndrome is a very rare and extremely deadly congenital heart condition, It’s unfortunate that your daughter has that, my best wishes go out to you and your daughter.
I am so sorry to hear that
Prayers to Damar, his family, friends, and fellow teammates!
Amen!
@Jai Warren Been praying for a powerful testimony to come from this, too.🙏
Yes 0:39
Amen🙏
This is horrible, sending prayers to his family who are at the hospital with him. Keep fighting Damar!
i was waiting for this video. hopefully damar is ok.
Prayers
Prayers 🙏🏾
You have about 5m+ people agreeing with you.😭
Prayers
Prayers to this young man and his family.
Thank you for this it was very educational.. I’m concerned about his brain n how much time was spent without oxygen.. prayers for a full recovery ❤
r on t can result in v-fib, yup, badness if not witnessed with AED available and folks who know how to use it.
Assuming the medical staff was right on site I assume they had oxygen tank on deck hopefully. Hope he makes it out. His wake up will be extraordinary news and I hope this gets many people to look at all aspects of their health as a blow to the chest isn’t the only way to suffer cardiac arrest.
I just hope this doesn't end his career! Such a young man. I can't believe this happened at all! NFL players are modern day gladiators who put their lives/health on the line every day, every year from off season to camps to the regular and post-season. We need to appreciate these athletes more in my opinion.
His career is done ..can't have someone with heart issues playing safety in the NFL
@DADof 2 did you watch the video? I think his career is done but not because heart issues. If he had heart issues it would have been picked up years ago he has been playing over a decade. He will probably never play another down, but I could be wrong we will see
@Chris Beach cardiac arrest..not from the hit.
@DADof 2 What about all the other NFL players that have been injected multiple times? How can the NFL pretend like this is not an issue?
Sending prayers for a speedy recovery.
likewise
He died
@Zelrava he still alive but can’t breathe on his own.
@Zelrava
🤭🤣
@Zelrava He didn't
They just announced he's awake and that one of the first things he asked about was whether or not they won the game!!!!
he's still in critical condition but the fact that he seems to be neuralgically intact is incredible and a testament to the skill of every single person involved in his care and the importance of fast and effective CPR
the Power of God through prayers is Amazing ❤
@R. S.Lemusu The power of medical professionals and medical science!
I hope you have that same energy to soldiers who come back home wounded and survive as well.
@Andres This is America where real heroes are not respected. Look at the “health care heroes”. Everybody idolizes sports stars and celebrities.
@R. S.Lemusu he’s in gods hands now
Last I read, that he was in the ICU intubated and in critical condition. Im glad he made it up to ICU. Kudos to the medical staff at the stadium and the ER staff who received him.
Read the same. Just hope he pulls through.
That ain't good
I hope he lives n is able to function normally n doesn't get paralysis or life altering consequences
@nautgaming nautgaming his vitals are back to normal and his heart is beating.
@dickinman.9564 that is what the medical staff on the field is for.
@America's Team where did you read this?
I hope he’s able to make a complete recovery. My prayers for him and his family. Good Vid Doc, very informative and able to understand.
Peace to all.
🎉
Great explanation....very understandable for us layman out here....I hate when people try to explain things leaving you more confused than before...thank you again. Prayers to Damar and his family.
Just amazing how clearly explained this is. Prayers for that young man's speedy and full recovery.
it's the jab!!
I’d have to imagine that his heart rate was elevated because of playing and adrenaline. The fact that he got hit in that window is unbelievable. Hope he recovers.
He was padded up and HE applied the tackle -- he was not "hit". Moreover, had it been the damage-control drivel that these "MD's" came out with suspiciously shortly after the incident, he would not have stood back up and been perfectly fine for a few seconds -- he would have remained floored.
_>and excuse but the most obvious explanation_
Great observation, brings much into question
Unbelievable all right. He was injured but it wasn't a football injury.
#ProtectTheNarrative
@Shoah Khan he was "hit"...Tee lowered his shoulder...minor blow tho.
Body will do strange things...when it doesn't know it's hurt.
Hoping for a complete recovery. Sending many prayers..❣️
I’m not seeing enough posts about the staff that understood rather quickly what was happening and gave him a chance to fight. Those moments after he fell are ticking time bombs. They deserve some acknowledgment. my heart is heavy from this. I hope this young man pulls thru.
Well I mean the first thing they are gonna check is a pulse, and he probably didn't have one. You don't even need to know the exact cause to perform CPR at that point.
@Johnny Bravo the point is that they found that out and acted not that they literally understood immediately that he had commotio cordis bro
@Kincaid O'Hara I genuinely would hope they know to start cpr immediately if he doesn’t have a pulse
Because right now those people are focused on making sure Damar stays alive. I'm sure sooner or late their names will be released if they want and will interview with the media (also if they want) but the thing is, that's not why they do what they do. Saving lives is what's important to them, not being part of the media.
Well explained. I never had this happen in my 9 years on the road as a practicing EMT, but this explains it quite well. A very good mix of technical details without being overwhelming
Major kudos to everyone involved in the chain of survival for Damar. The crews worked the code amazingly. I hope Damar recovers quickly.
You'll be hearing about a lot more often.......* vaccine * * cough *
This makes me so sad. I hope to god this young man can recover and have a long life. He didn’t deserve this.
Pfizer should be held responsible
@D Murray for what?
@D Murray you sound crazy
Deserve is irrelevant. Should the NFL require bulletproof vests? Shit happens - I hope he fully recovers and has time to think about positive things in his life.
When he collapsed after that hard tackle I suspected it was from blunt force trauma to his chest and heart. This explanation was spot on and to the point. Thanks.
LOL cope
I watched the video of what happened and the aftermath. It was breathtaking that so many people were in prayer. I believe this young man had a stadium full of guardian angels. Praying for his family and that he makes a full recovery.
He should of had them when they were giving them him the vaccination
🤲🏾
This is something in my police career I was aware of. Take downs are unique This was horrible to see happen.
To think thousands of times football players have been hit in the chest area and this has never happened before is shocking. Prayers for him and his family
Especially considering how this was a pretty pedestrian hit (not a baseball hitting your chest type force), but maybe it’s just been a miracle the timing of the wave never caused this before
@Crazdcorgi keep the conspiracys to yourself please.
@Crazdcorgi look I'm not a big fan of the vaccine either but how about we save all medical theories and conspiracies for a different time
Praying for you Damar. Wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️🩹
Don’t really watch football games except for the Super Bowl, but when I saw this on the news I was shocked beyond belief, and now I’m checking the news every single hour for any update on this poor man who is MUCH younger than me! (He’s 24, I just turned 31 a few days ago!) My thoughts and prayers are with him until he’s back home with his family
As an anesthesiologist,in the cath lab, we induce v-fib; I placed patients in this state; sedated; paralyzed; intubated; brain function monitored; normal pH, SaO2 94-99%; allow paralytic agents to wear off. Absent catastrophic brain injury, they would return to normal after a few hours. Amazing.
Wow! The body is amazing. I hope Damar Hamlin is able to recover. Praying for his return to health.
I've never heard of a football player having this happen in the entire history of the game at any level. Shoulder pads go down over your chest to protect you as well, so this is very, very strange.
JPrich It's been happening. This isn't the first athlete..
You haven't heard of it cuz it hasn't happened in a game before
The shoulder pads are there to protect from the ball. Not a 300 pound man. Believe me, I'm a hockey player. I know what I'm talking about.
I had a buddy who passed away in middle school from a hit to the chest trying to pick off a runner stealing second and the kid lowered his head and my buddy jumped up to catch the ball and tag him and it just happened so fast! RIP Chandler and hopefully this Buffalo Bills player will make a full recovery 🖤
💞 so sorry to hear that
I'm sorry about the death of your friend. When did it happen?
Yeah except baseball players don’t wear body armor so I’m not buying it.
Reading this gave me goosebumps. I was knocked out during a game, from trying to tag the runner out at 3rd & he tried to jump over me, but kneed me in the head. I couldn’t remember anything!
I'm so sorry that happened. I think there's more awareness of the possibility of this happening and there are AEDs close by to use in these situations.
This unfortunately happened to a kid at my high school on the field in the early 2000s. He unfortunately didn't make it, and was one of the cases used as an example of why a defibrillator should always be close to sporting events.
It probably happens far more often than recognized, just no tech to document and treat. Supports the need to have defibrillator handy at all times.
Great explanation and a speedy recovery for Damar Hamlin.
🎉
Excellent video here prayers to Hanlin and his family. I learned something new. Hope for a beautiful recovery🙏🏾
Thank You for your very uncomplicated explanation of what actually occurred. It was good to understand that tiny window of time when this could happen… My prayers and best wishes go to him and his family…God bless & Amen🕊🕊
Lol
Thank you for your explanation. Prayers for his recovery.
I completely agree. I experienced this with my daughter when she was only 5. The key point when I knew it was Commotio cordis when he stood up an had a delayed response of a few seconds after the heart stopped. Same thing happened to my daughter. She stood up walked approximately 3 steps an was gone. She survived thank God. Prayers for Hamlin 🙏🏽
I hope your daughter is fully recovered.
So it happened with your daughter but from what I've heard it's specifically children and young teens, not adults.
I agree to know cpr it's an absolute must also first aid for choking. my son has post orthratic tachycardia, he was misdiagnosed from birth, by age 27 after multiple close calls and two seizures his weight was 6 half stone, we discovered Drs had unethically been negligent when it was quite evident something wasn't right, Mothers instinct.
@Emma Kessler can happen to anyone with a heart
The staff were very good identifying the situation and the needs of the player. The statistics of this happening are astronomical. But it happens. Bodies are fragile and athletes push them hard. But this injury could happen to anyone who sustains a blow to the chest. He is lucky he was with staff who knew what to do.
Apparently, he is doing very well. #prayersforhamlin
🎉
Great explanation. Tragic, but hopefully, he will recover.
With how many hard hits that are delivered in football, I'm surprised this isn't a more common occurrence. I'm not a big NFL fan but it's been in my periphery for the past 30+ years and this is the first time I've ever seen anything like it.
That is what makes me suspicious of the doctor's analysis. This would have happened at least once before in the last 40 years.
He said its extremely rare i kinda think dude had a bad heart or a heart murmur or something else was kinda wrong with his heart but he said it had to be a hit at the exact right place at the exact right time for this to happen
It's amazing the media and doctors diagnosed him before he even went to the hospital. Very odd
NFL shoulder pads have a rigid chest plate that disperses the force of any impact over a larger area. If Hamlin were speared with a helmet, it would make more sense, but blaming it on a padded shoulder hit to his padded chest plate is sus.
Amazing this has never happened in the last 100 years with far worst hits to chest! God bless Damar and hoping for recovery!
vax
i think most of us know whats going on
I mean maybe he had some minor heart problems but with the videos that I have seen he got hit in the chest at the exact moment that he just went into cardiac arrest scary
Thanks for this Brian. Prayers up for Hamlin
I'm praying he doesn't make it
@troll - 👶
Thank you Dr. Brian for the explanation. My son & I were watching the game and upon his collapse My Son & I said a prayer for Damar. My prayer goes for him and his family -^-
Does it not trouble you that he's giving an explanation with no diagnostic data from the patient? Psychologists have ethics standards that prohibit diagnosis without direct examination.....I have no idea why medical doctors don't have the same standard.
When I played for the Packers I remember being hit like that, and let me tell you, it really hurts... prayers for Damar 🙏
Man stop the cap lmao
@Joseph Harrison 🤣 a little comedy is medicine for the soul~
@Joseph Harrison LMFAOOO
Same here for the cowboys back in the 90s..Irvin loved drugs
I'm not American. I've never seen an American football match in my life, or rugby for that matter. But to hear or Demar Hamlin's miraculous recovery has made me so happy. Just like that footballer who collapsed in the euros year before last. I cried when I saw him go down, and would have had I have seen what happened to this guy.
I did pray for him thought. Looks like worked. Awesome, great news
Thank you for such informative information regarding Damar’s devastating injury. Thoughts and Prayers for Damar and his family…🙏🙏❤🌹
apparently, therapeutic hypothermia -- i.e. dramatically reducing the body's temperature -- was part of Damar's early treatment at the hospital. Dr. Brian, any chance you could do a video explaining this form of treatment for cardiac arrest?
Seems pretty simple. Chilling the body slows the metabolic rate and therefore reduces the demand for oxygen in the brain. Which means that you don’t need a fully developed heartbeat to supply enough blood.
Pretty low tech and super clever.
I believe they also did that in the Milwaukee Protocol case when a 15 year old girl got bit by a bat and her parents brushed it off until she was symptomatic. They lowered her body temperature to 35 degrees I believe. She was the first survivor of rabies after symptoms developed (had been a death sentence until her). The story is interesting! Rabies is terrifying....
Was horrified to watch this young man get and then drop back down. As the players and staff were crying and praying, I was as well. I hope Hamlin pulls through and recovers quickly. Prayers to him, his family and his teammates.
Outlaw FOOTBALL EXPEDITIOUSLY
@Abraham isaac Jacob Yisrael that isn’t an appropriate thing to do, should the ufc be outlawed as well? Death on the field isn’t a common thing. Should war be outlawed?
@iG0TtR1CKs war should def be outlawed. its all about govt contracts and old men getting paid. not a very good example imo. but footballs not going to be outlawed ever. talk about starting a war 😅
Appreciate you not showing footage of him collapsing on the field. Immorally wrong for physicians to do this for views. Much respect
This happened back in my teens to a kid playing catcher who got his in the chest by a breaking curve ball. He passed out, went into cardiac arrest and took an ambulance ride, he survived. The shock to the chest confuses the heart's pumping reflex and no blood is pumped to your brain.
This is much more common with under 20 year olds and with small projectiles like baseballs and hockey pucks. Glad the young catcher survived.
I am New to your channel, but holy cow, you are the voice we need right now! There is so much quackery online especially related to medicine. You are cutting through the noise. THANK YOU!
Thank you for explaining this. I’m praying for him, for everyone.
I can't imagine how the person who tackled him feels , I'm sure he's tore up about this bigtime and probably not good mentally. The family lost a good man that was doing good in his life. God please take this man into your heavenly kingdom 🙏🏼 Rest peacefully brother 🙏🏼
Oh no how is he doing?
The person who jabbed him you mean
He’s not dead! He seems to be recovering- is awake & talking.
He's not dead ...
Was there tonight for the Bengals, the vibes were unsettling, nobody was sure of anything other than the fact that the game was no longer a priority and his health was most important. Absolutely terrifying experience. Prayers for Damar, his family, and the Buffalo Bills.
That's awful... I'm sorry you had to witness that. :(
Did they announce to the stadium what was going on? I read they announced cpr was being performed and that seems odd to announce so just wondering what they detailed over the PA system? TIA
@EL 444 everything we knew for sure was what we saw, the only thing that was announced was that the game was suspended. Other than that, we could only speculate.
@The Legacy me and my buddies took a trip from Michigan to see this game, we were quite excited for it. We were left with hope and prayers. It’s a scary thing I wouldn’t want anyone to witness or experience in any way
second time this year there’s been a massive injury inside that stadium on prime time! whats up with that??? also it’s both been the opposing team’s players 😭
Thank you. Good job of explaining it. Also, that view of the play that you showed, did indeed show an elbow right in Hamlin's heart.
Dr. Peter McCullough pointed out in a recent paper that since the shots were deployed, 1598 athletes have suffered cardiac arrest, with 1101 of them dying. In order to find 1101 similar athlete deaths he has to examine a 38-year period.
Before 2021 the typical number of annual high profile sports cardiac events was about 40 per year. That rate is now over 20x the pre Covid vax era.
Nah man they said he was crazy remember? So your supposed to just ignore him….
Lol
@Lorris Morris who are 'they'?
@rothschild the main perpetuators of this great agenda...
Prayers for the recovery of this young man. One question: Has he received the vax?
He was recently boostered but they dont wanna talk about that
8 days prior
My aunt works in the cardiac department of UC. It's a really, really good place to go if you have heart issues. The medical team at the game combined with the people who work at UC gave Damar the best chance of survival and he is doing amazing.
UC huh? You know how many UC’s there are?
Praying for Damar ❤️
Prayers to him, his love ones and everyone! That’s horrible to watch.
Thoughts and prayers for Damar Hamlin. This happened to me 15 years ago while playing baseball. I went to catch a fly ball and missed it and then hit me in the chest. I came back to and was getting carried to the ambulance by an umpire. The doctors said that it was a miracle that my heart started back because no one had started CPR yet.
You should have caught it. You had a glove on right?
@Find list ship don't be so harsh guy!
@Find list ship bruh come on, that’s not funny
@Find list ship Not even remotely funny
@Fortheloveofmoney bro is that really your first thought when reading this comment?
Not even a football guy but still I’m still praying for him.
🎉
One of the biggest moments in sports history
Thank you for providing this information. People tend to react in strong ways to fear. Having level headed information can stop a lot of irrational speculation.
Eriksen's incident at the EUROs was caused by a congenital heart condition that gave him arrhythmia. The medical team was on him immediately because everyone saw him stagger for no apparent reason before collapsing. Hamlin's incident was caused by the impact to his chest. I imagine that it took a little while before they realized that Hamlin wasn't down because of a head injury and first then removed the gear and checked his heart. Can anyone tell me how many minutes passed from Hamlin collapsed and until CPR and defibrillation was started? I hope Hamlin makes a full recovery and his family have all the support and love they need
Great description. I’m a Firefighter/Paramedic and was watching it at work, with my coworkers. My immediate reaction was that the hit to the chest put him in to v-fib, secondary to commotio cordis. Like you said, it’s rare to have happen. It’s even rarer to see it live in front of you. I have good optimism that the early cpr will prove effective in him having a good outcome. Thanks again, and may God watch over him and those caring for him.
Commotio cordis is a rare type of v-fib. I'm not as optimistic as you, even with the early CPR the odds aren't great.
so heart attack for those who don’t know what any of that means?
Thank you for your insight.
16 minutes it took for them to clear the field from what i read ...is that fast enough for something like this? Ive never seen a football game stopped for an injury before...ever.
Paramedic here. As soon as I saw it I thought the same thing. The early chest compressions will have made a large difference.
I read about this sort of horrible thing happening with contact sports and my heart goes out to Damar's friends and family. I saw a follow up video clip where Damar's uncle stated that his nephew had suffered a second arrest requiring resuscitation within an hour of arriving at the hospital. My question: Is a secondary cardiac arrest indicative of commotia cordis after having been shocked into a normal rhythm, or would a second episode indicate something else? What could that something else be???f
2 questions from a medical student: How common is it for an otherwise healthy young person to end up in critical condition for several days following CPR for cardiac arrest? Second question, possibly related to the first, how often does CPR on an adult result in broken ribs? Do you think that might have happened in this case?
I pray for this kid and his family
He is released from the ICU, I’m so glad he’s doing much better!
Pretty legit dude. No sponsored products in this video. Much respect, Doctor.
I was touched to see how emotional the players became once they realised what was going on. It’s a stark reminder of what important and that we’re all absolutely cut from the same cloth.
Much love and prayers from Australia. 🙏🇦🇺
Yeah, I love the fact that they postponed the game. I don't think I could play on after watching a player recieve cpr on the field.
@Jason Era absolutely.
What?? No thoughts? 😢
No we aren't. I can empathize with him and his family, but we aren't all cut from the same cloth. People should not use tragedy to push their agenda. RIP sports player.
I'm just curious how many football players has ever experienced a cardio arrest because a lot of football players has gotten tackled in the chest and in the heart down the decades of football playing because something like this is very serious and can cause someone's life, so I'm surprised that the football organization and the NFL staff and manager have never put a stop to this rough tackling on the football field
the brilliance of medicine and science at it again. once in a lifetime medical pathologies witnessed on live sports. hope hamlin recovers fully.
Prayers for him and get well
I experienced a cardiac arrest back on 01/31/21 that lasted (in total) nearly 2 hrs. I was shocked 100+ times and suffered 3rd degree burns when the Zoll patches arced electricity across my chest. I was 44 at the time. Hopefully his issue was simply electrical interruption, and not r/t another cause (like DCM).
I really hope the guy is okay.
As a Bengals fan who was watching this live I am very shook up right now. I'm 40 and I've never seen anything like this in my life. Thoughts and prayers to that young man and his family. I pray he is able to push through this. I don't even care about the game outcome of this at this point. All I care about is that he is okay.
Im 40 year old bengals fan to and agree completly
He apparently has a pulse but can't breathe on his own
27 year old Bengals fan and local, agree completely with you. This is terrifying and I don't give a damn about the game. This is a young man's life at stake.
Easy for you to say, up 4 pts.
I'm 45 and also wish to make this event about myself. Thanks.
Great information. Curious as I saw cardiologists offer their view which was a few days after vs yours minutes after. However, their stance was it couldn’t be what you described bc the athletes rhythm was restored then he went into cardiac arrest again an hour later. What’s your thoughts?
It turned out the Damar’s uncle misspoke, he never went into cardiac arrest again. That said, it is entirely possible to re-arrest after you have heen brought back from the initial arrest, no matter the initial cause. As an EMT, I’ve had it happen to patients several times.
9 rounds of cpr? For an arrhythmia? A rare ventricular arrhythmia? Super super strange sounds more like a clot
This video aged well, because they just had a press conference announcing you are correct. Good job!
He’s doing better now! I think that’s all that matters.
Thanks for the insight! Do you know why this doesn’t happen more in football? Players are constantly getting hit hard in the chest but end up being fine. Is there just a small chance of it happening at any time and Damar was just one that did happen?
He doesn't seem to have been hit any harder than any other team player at any other game. I'm waiting to see what the actual cause was... we are wishing him a full recovery soon!!
r on t in a window of milliseconds.
this is the scariest thing that ive ever seen on a football field. we can only hope he is okay.
you can also pray.
hope isnt the "only" thing we can do, just saying
@matt lol not everyone prays
@matt lol who do i pray to? im not religious is all. the football gods i guess.
Have you seen an angry Tom Brady orchestrating a comeback against your team?
This year has shown more of how dangerous the game is. Between Tua and Hamlin scary prayers up!!!
A such instructive video, despite that terrible event.
Cheers from Brazil.
I watched this game live with my parents and I was immediately thrown off when Damar grabbed onto Bengals 28 (Joe Mixon) and used his body to pull himself up. It seemed desperate in that brief moment and not seconds later he was on the ground. I have been losing sleep over Damar and I pray for him, his mother & family, his team & coach, the Bangels players (most of all Tee Higgins), and the country/teams worrying over him. He was SO young, and with God's grace he will survive but I don't know if he will ever play football again. Though I think activism could give him a new purpose.
Losing sleep? Worse things happen daily to people who aren’t on national tv. Are you an insomniac or is it only when you see or hear about a celebrity or athlete having something tragic happen that you are incapable of sleeping because of. .I must know.
@michael Trobada My daughter is a cardiac patient and for 9 months of her life we lived in the ICU of a children's hospital. She had two massive heart surgeries before she was 16 months of age, so witnessing a cardiac event like that on live television is pretty fucking traumatic and triggering for my anxiety, if you must know. I haven't seen anything like that since we've been out of the the hospital, so it was a big deal. He may be a football player but he's still human and somebodies child.
Shout out to the first responders who gave Damar CPR. Never in a million years did they imagine that working a football game they would have to give CPR. If they responded any later than they did or hesitated, he would have died on the field. 🙏
Yes if they all took a coffee and donut break after seeing him go down he most certainly would have died.
Commotio cordis happened locally in an Aussie rules game. Player was punched in the chest and went down with cardiac arrest. He thankfully made a full recovery. Hope Damar Hamlin does the same.
He will. Bring this possibility into public awareness, make AED's mandatory in public places.
The fact that he had immediate medical care was probably the thing that will save him from serious complications like brain death or organ death, hope he recovers fully.
Praying that it was quick enough!
Yes that care was administered immediately- That’s a huge plus in his favor. Huge. I hope he’s going to be ok.
I said the same thing to my wife. If this was ever going to happen then this is the perfect place for it to occur. You have countless trainers and doctors standing literally 20 yards away and they have access to an ambulance and life saving equipment. I just hope he’s ok
Given him oxygen probably saved his brain let’s just pray his heart recovers
Not breathing on his own for so long is another scary factor though..
I watched this happen when I was in high school. One of the guys took a slap shot and one guy from the other team took it to his chest. His heart stopped and my team mate came and hit the guy since he puck was at his feet. When he ended up hitting him it restated his heart.
Cool story bro
I was there…it restated his hart.
Prayers for Damar.
But I personally would never go to a Doc who doesn’t do Vitals Signs, lab tests, imaging or doesn’t do a physical exam and gives me a diagnosis.
It is incomprehensible

I feel emotional seeing Hamlin collapsed, I remember the event when my husband had cardiac arrest in 2020. I just took a picture of him holding our dog then within 50 seconds as we walk by to the hall he just collapsed 😢. That time it just the two of us with the dog, I quickly felt cold and frozen the moment I saw him on the floor but quickly did CPR and at the same time called 911. I was shattered seeing him like that, and lucky the ambulance came within 4-5minutes and they continued to resuscitate him, it last about 10-15mins😢. Lucky the Lord gave his life back again and I am so thankful and grateful for his Life that he’s still with me until now. It was the darkest moment of my life but I didn’t give up and be brave to face reality. Pray…. that is the most powerful that you can do for your love one. God bless everyone!❤
Just wanted to say thank you Dr for your viewpoint. Being short concise, and understandable so that us non medical ppls can get it. Congrats 🎉 on your views. Prayers for Damar 🙏🏾. Those EMTs deserve an award 🏅
We should all pray for all people who are going through this also.
Man I appreciate your dedication. Hearing your take certainly eases my anxiety. Prayers up man, I’m on the verge of tears typing this.
I agree. I have been watching Brian's videos for awhile now, and I was looking forward to hearing his input on the situation.
Absolutely traumatic. I hear you.
Zogbot post. Running that interference for the pharmaceutical companies.
Yes that is one differential diagnosis. But it is irresponsible to rule out other potential causes. Especially considering he would be the first football player to suffer this in history. And there has been an exponential increase in on field cardiac arrests recently.
WHO decided what is irresponsible ?
Thank you for having common sense, the fact people keep telling me you shouldn't blame the vaccine for the millionth time after millionth example is getting to be quite the spectacle to witness
Roids lol
As an anesthesiologist, I placed patients in this state daily; sedated; paralyzed; intubated; brain function monitored; normal pH, SaO2 94-99%; paralytic agents allowed to wear off. Absent catastrophic brain injury, they would return to normal after a few hours. Amazing.
First off, prayers to this man and his family. May God place his mighty healing hands on him and restore him back to full health. WHY is NO ONE including the medical community even acknowledging the realm of possibility that this could in fact be what this dr “shall do no harm” is saying what it is most definitely was not with the very little information he has just like the rest of us! Seems peculiar (trust the science). The SCIENCE says, at this point we can NOT rule out the realm of possibility that this could have been to a prior medical decision he had recently made for himself. Especially, given the 100’s of 1000’s of examples of the same exact “phenomenon” happening to members of the sports community around the world in the last two years that never occurred in the history of professional, collegiate and high school athletic sports prior to the introduction of the _ _ _ ? Yet, even if he did die as a result of a recent medical decision WE will never know about it! God Bless Everyone out their regardless of whether they believe that Christ is coming soon or not!
Professional and succinctly tactful as always. Good job
For those that are impressed with his sesquipedalianism I recommend power thesaurus.
