I miss these people. It was so much fun, especially how my friends got a little segment based off of something we used to just do for fun.

So proud of that Tuba player stepping up in the most incredible way. Way to go for it Mason! Brought tears to my eyes hearing the pride of the band Director. NBW Boosters

I've watched 2 of these now, getting ready to watch more. I don't go to Greendale, don't know anyone who does, heck, I'm barely even a former band kid (played percussion and flute in middle school, but never marched. Go bells!!) Regardless, I'm sitting here crying over an incredibly kick-butt group of amazing high schoolers. Y'all are impressive in SO many ways. I love seeing your joy and passion for band, each other, and everything else you do. I dearly hope that each and every one of you (from every year) has carried all of that on to everything you have done after band and after high school. Hopefully (especially in these last few crazy, crummy years) you've been able to look back on all these awesome, fun, and goofy memories and smile when you remember how much fun you had and how many lessons you learned about good friends, persevering when stuff got tough, and working for the things you really wanted. Kudos as well to the incredible staff for being supportive and loving to these wonderful kids, in a world that all too often just pushes, but forgets about the support and love. (Same to the parents as well. Those Band Dads (and moms) are just about the cutest and hardest-working support parents I've ever seen.) Dan K, thanks for making and sharing these. This was exactly the feel-good documentary I needed to get sucked into right now.

Missy, This made my day! Thank you for all of your words, I will pass this on to the band family. As you sent this we were interviewing for this year's documentary and talking about how this could touch another band kid. Thank you so much for commenting and letting us know you needed it. Best wishes to you in your future Missy.

I'm writing a comic that stars a band kid and I'm watching this for research: Really interesting look of behind the scenes!

Ive enlisted for the United States Marine Corps and i plan to come back as a Marine in these next three months. I was very disappointed with the “one on ones “ with the kids. “I only come back to band for friends “ “ if it wasn’t for being able to play sports and be in band , I wouldn’t be in band “ ! We as music educators are suppose to thrive to keep the passion of being instrumentally inclined alive in these children’s hearts.

Sydney, I appreciate your response and thank you for watching! As the filmmaker and band dad, I wanted to show that there are all sorts of kids in our band program. We certainly have dozens of kids that hold music as their number one priority. We have students that picked up an instrument for the first time as sophomores. We have very social students like my son (not depicted) who need social interactions to thrive, and they seek out activities such as marching band, which teaches social skills through music. Once the student in the video joined band and stayed, he worked very hard and was held to the same standard as every other student in the program. In a school of only 900 students, with over 200 in the marching band, it is imperative that all coaches and educators are flexible to allow these students to have a comprehensive high school experience. I hope that provides some insight into why these students were chosen to be interviewed in this documentary. Again, thank you for taking the time to watch.
