@@Mattman_90 i recieved multiple hate messages because of it, so if i trace back to 2017, i recieved atleast 82 hate messages over raider. And my Raider atm is rep 63.
Oh yeah definitely, focusing on those less intuitive combos and stuff along with everything effective is a way better format than most youtubers brief overview of the moveset that they still call a "guide"
@@danielmyers-cowan3416 I try to make my guide videos easy to follow for players of any skill level. I do my best to provide accurate information as to things that should be learned like damage values, optimal punishes and moveset but stay away from combos and mix ups as that is learned whilst playing and mix ups are only effective on a per round/match basis.
For an alternative OOS throw punish, you can throw backwards for a stunning tap into top heavy finisher. It does 2 less damage than going into raider's fury and uses way less stamina.
This video is going to help alot, I played raider for so long, but he just wasnt strong enough, so I finally picked up lawbringer and basically didnt play anything else, I now finally want to pick up the big guy
Glad it helped. Make sure to check out the updated punish video in the description for Raider. Raider was certainly underpowered, he's in a much better place now, one of the better reworks added to the game, that said, Raider has really overtuned damage and busted animations so he still needs attention from the devs.
Hey man awesome vid for some reason most character guides on YT dont really go in depth with their most competitive combo/playstyles. Also I was wondering cuz the yesterday a raider caught me with an outta stamina parry where he managed to get a stunning tap then top heavy before I could even get up, do u know if its guaranteed or if the stun just kept me from seeing the indicator?
Stunning tap into top heavy is confirmed. I missed it in my guide. It's only 2 less damge then what I suggested in the guide but way more stamina friendly.
Thank you for the guide, man! Very informative. Need some time to adjust to the Stunning Taps, but he's a lot of fun to use. Is there a Lawbringer video coming in the future?
@@draco_shifty It's a learning experience for me as much as a teaching one. It's good to know where I can improve but I will try to get everything covered going forward.
Ahh I remember when raider's heavies did 40-45+ damage and nowadays after the CCU they hardly scrape the 30 mark, which is a 33 PERCENT DECREASE. Fights are now basically glorified tickle fights. I quit for honour and I'm not planning to go back. Still love watching your vids though mate.
It's a shame you quit the game. The damage isn't a bad thing now unless you play PK/Shinobi. More or less brought down because of the CCU's buffs to offense. Regardless of if you return to the game or not, it means a lot that you still took the time to watch my content. Thank you. 🙂
Does this really need to be 11 minutes? Just Any side heavy-into top feint rinse repeat and mixup with gb's and unblockables as needed till your plat 2.
This is a guide for players of all skill levels, despite raiders strength at the moment I feel that knowing everything a character can offer is paramount to playing them effectively. That and some people prefer 4v4 over duels. Guides can be simplified and shortened but this is just the format I decided to use. Admittedly for people already familiar with the characters moveset, this guide will be too long but I felt it was necessary to cover everything.
Does anybody else use fury? I fell like that feat has gotten me outta some impossible situations, or does his 2nd feat stack with battle cry so everybody is just throwing haymakers?
Inspire and battle cry do stack as far as I know. I can only speak for myself, I praises battlecry as I've seen raiders rinse teams using it. Health regen is very strong though so it's difficult to pass up, the benefits given by fury aren't worth sacrificing your heal in my opinion.
Raider got the best buff possible, the hero is an absolute monster now. There's a link in the description to changes made after the buff too. Raider needed toning down after the initial rework.
It's called feinting. Check your settings and controls to see which button it is for you. I play on PS4 with default controls so mine is the circle button.
To do stunning taps back to back, after your first stunning tap you need to follow up with a heavy or zone and then press light during that heavy or zone to soft feint into another stunning tap.
Raider can still charge at enemies and carry them when not locked on although it can now be interrupted by team mates and enemies. Raider can also perform the carry from guard break by throwing forwards.
Raider's changes recently are mixed. On the one hand, the damage needed reducing. On the other, Stunning tap was a viable mix up tool that made Raider good. Removing it did nothing for the character and the animations were not fixed either. Fix Raider's animations, return stunning tap. Either reduce damage of stunning tap down or maybe have the stun not stack. It's a shame as Raider's rework despite being too strong initially was an example of good hero design.
MightyMattman90 Option 1: Due to how quickly ST hits I would say leave the stun out for balancing purposes and guarantee side heavy on GB and pick up throws as to be on par with other Vanguards/ straightforward. Option 2: reduce the damage of ST and bring the stun back. As of right now the raider feels more like a lawbringer/Heavy than a Vanguard character where he is not easy/straightforward to play with. I’m not an elite player, as a matter of fact, this is how the character feels to a players returning to the game after a year. On a positive note, the lawbringer feels fantastic.
@@SpecOpsDoctor I'd sooner have option 2 back. The stun is essential for mic up pressure for Raider. They just need to fix those animations. His top light finisher also needs a speed buff. Lawbringer is strong, has problems of his own, the law is in need of buffs and nerfs too.
This is just an issue of practice I'm afraid, watching animations help. It's easier to tell on some heroes and difficult on others. For an example, Tiandi and Orochi always hold their sword in one hand when light attacking and with both hands during heavies.
They nerfed his stamina damage to proper levels which is fine. Stunning tap got reduced to 15 from 18 too. I personally would like to see stunning tap and the knee from stampede charge do around 10/12 and then I would be satisfied with Raiders damage.
@@avy6153 I disagree there. I'm happy with his heavy openers, 40 damage on a light parry is good. Perhaps his heavy finishers should be normalised at 40/45 instead of the 48 top heavy.
Raider is definitely over tuned at the moment. He got some good changes but too much of a damage buff and keeping the old tech was unnecessary. Hopefully the devs will address this mid season or in season 11.
@@pizzaparker__0072 I know, and I'm not but they have been better at fixing issues lately. At the very least I think dodge Gb will be gone on Raider. Still early season yet, the raider hype train will die down eventually.

RIP Stun tap indeed. Raider was OP when the rework launched but the stun mechanic could have been altered significantly as opposed to just removing it.
@@Mattman_90 aye. Make it high risk high reward instead of just getting rid of it. Raider needs buffs now, he's practically useless against Kensei and Griffon, or anyone with side dodge attack. MightyMattman90 Gotcha! This has been helpful you are now For honor senpai!! good luck with getting 1K your content is content that I enjoy and can get behind! Keep up the fantastic jobs!
Raiders real strength is in the versatility of the heavies. GB and stun tap soft feints along side hyper armour and zone is where Raider's pressure is. Those lights are great too, you can throw off your opponent trying to parry your heavies or just sneak in a quick hit or two. Mix it up and you'll see results. Stunning taps nerf did hurt follow up pressure for Raider though so you can't be overly aggressive.
@@sweetwolfasmraudio6726 Well the chains are only there to show you what attacks link into others. How you use those attacks is up to you ultimately. The other thing is understanding how attacks fit into the chain, example being you could use Raider's Wild Swinging chain, aka. 3 heavy attacks but cancel the last attack into storming tap, now that's the second hit in the chain and you can now hit again if you wish. My advice would be try to avoid top light finishers with Raider. They're very slow and basically parry bait.
