If you told him he's a bad person, he'd probably look at you like you're crazy, because he doesn't think about what he's doing. Human beings have a large developed brain for a reason. That's why it's a sin to just act without thinking. Like you say, if you do that, you're just an animal.

I will admit that it is a little harsh and a cruel to cut a fish while it is alive but fish actully don't have any pain receptors making most fish species including carp unable to feel pain so this carp didn't even relized it was getting harmed nor did it feel anything. And the reason why god put fish on this earth is so we can have food to eat because fish is a very important diet to many people on this earth.
The science did not prove fish or carbs don't have pain receptors and thus, don't feel pain! what a shame justification!

Im not sure if you folks have ever learned to kill a fish but I'll tell you what I was told. The fish was not even moving but breathing while he removing the scale, apparently it's stuned by a heavy hit or something, or you can actually just throw it to the ground. If you didn't stun it, it will just struggle around.
