  • A special double-length episode to celebrate 70 years of my vintage 1953 Fender Telecaster that I nicknamed “The Witness”. It’s finally time for a comprehensive video on the original vintage Fender Esquires, Broadcasters, Nocasters and Telecasters made between 1950 and 1954, the so-called “Blackguards”. We are about to retrace their origin, to investigate their secrets, we are going to debunk some false myths and to explore with open mind their tone and technical features. Finally, we will get to the role of Blackguards in guitar culture and rock history unveiling some new testimonials. After more than 70 years, the Blackguards are still living instruments. They still need to sing their fascinating stories with their unique voice.

That's right. The electronics and hardware used in the Broadcaster was already used in his lap steels. That's why so many old lap steels have missing pickups. Lol

My1951 Nocaster (1397) has all Slot Screw and weight 2.8kg(6.2lbs) only and sound great.

Hello lloyd, you have a wonderful Nocaster! I saw it on guitarlogs. I'm sure it sounds great, of course I didn't mean that lighter bodies are "worse"; there are no sure-fire formulas. Slot-head screws were gradually phased out from mid-1952; control plate screws, truss rod bolt, neck screws and strap button screws changed first. My 1953 still has slotted switch selector screws, they were the last to be changed.

    • @Caziolin
      @Caziolin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BobsToneReview risposta più che esauriente!!!!
Un caro saluto, and see you on the next episode of BTR,the best channel for guitar lovers😉😉😉

@@BobsToneReview , I am not an editor but in the past I have been an occasional writer for local magazines (and I have fought numerous battles with editors who wanted to drastically alter my writing so as not to offend advertisers). Every day that I use this phone on social media I fight a losing battle against the phone trying to change words on me. I've actually watched it do this. I was having a text exchange with family members yesterday about the demolition of a local Children's Museum (shame!) where my brother and I were volunteers as kids, feeding small animals and cleaning their cages ---- there had been a large sculpture of a sperm whale outside the museum, which is now being removed, and when I typed "sperm" and hit the space bar to type "whale", sperm changed to "supermarket" ! And then, when I watch the news on TV, almost every day I will see major misspellings on the headline or in the chyrons, the banners with additional information that run below the screen. Proofreading before hitting send or print seems to be a dying art.

My #1 is a 1984 white Stratocaster with a rosewood board.
      Made in Japan.
Her name is Betty White 👍
She had been dropped and had a huge chunk of finish missing and the music store was going to send her back, so I offered $160 and they sold her to me!
EVERYTHING I know, I learned on that guitar.
I have over 30 guitars these days, but they all wish they were Betty.
In my will, if I'm buried, she goes in the box with me. If I'm cremated, she goes in the fire.
      She is mine forever ♥️

I think that it's nice to think that our great guitars will survive us and transmit our good vibes to younger players in the years to come! : ) Hopefully they will keep on playing great sounds and great music in the future, after we are gone.
