May compassion love and kindness surround California at this time. So devastating to watch. Did anyone get more detail of how the fires started in Palisades? The reported said someone’s backyard?
Ferocious desert winds coming over ridges and funneling down steep canyons meet semi arid urban metropolis where no rain has fallen in almost a year, power lines, gas lines, dried out shrubs and trees, all connected in a grid or tethering one upon another in a canyon, this is an epic tragic event, not a political rally and smear opportunity, well it should be positive energy and compassion
I'm in La Canads Flintridge, and I evacuated my family, but I stayed home to help my neighbors and community. My heart goes out to those who have lost everything. The winds and fire have stopped, but we are still without power, which is highly unusual. As an architect, specializing in the fire rebuilding prcoess, I see fires start from the inside due to radiant heat and embers entering attics through eave venting. Stucco and tile roofing alone do not make structures fireproof. I also have to asky why aren't the fire sprinklers working on commercial buildings? I work closely with city officials, and I find it strange that there is no reason why the power is out for so long, and nobody's discussing a plan for how/when people can return to their undamged homes.
In 2017 the Northern California Fires burned through Mendocino, Sonoma and Napa Counties killing many while burning thousands upon thousands of acres. The following year in Butte County the Town of Paradise and surrounding areas were devastated by the Camp Fire. Though some news channels followed these fire stories, few did in depth and the stories quickly fell out of the public’s attention and the lessons learned were never acted upon. For many of these SoCal areas it’s too late, but for those who have avoided this tragedy, the time to prepare for such a fire like this is now. I lost my home, my business, residential housing, farming equipment, the list goes on,…in the 2017 Fires. Fire prevention can be made as easy is installing a solid set water sprinkler system around your property and over your roof. Stand alone water storage tanks can insure water when it is absolute necessary. Neighborhood meetings for fire protection and the correct method to utilize such a sprinkler strategy can be implemented as it is important not to depressurize the municipal water system during such a fire. The fact of the matter is preparation costing thousands of dollars can extinguish a fire quickly and save billions, that’s with a “B”. Get with it California. These fire events have gone on for far too long.
Home sprinkler sytems sounds expensive, but water storage tanks is an interesting idea. sorry for your loss, btw. These fires break my heart. (Former San Diegan)
@@Barredeux I attended SDSU and played on their varsity soccer team. The sprinklers I’m talking about are on the roof of your home and on the lands around your home. Google “fire protection roof sprinklers” and “aqua protection”. It is not expensive at all. Our California Legislature is made up of a bunch of losers. Fire protection is simple and cost effective, we just have a bunch of idiots in Sacramento.
Home insurance rate hikes will continue to outpace inflation in most areas for as long we continue increasing the concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
People here saying there ain’t water aren’t listening. The reservoir system is just not built for large scale urban fires because this has never happened in the area at this scale before. I mean if three 1-million gallon (football field-sized) tanks ran out, then you wouldn’t be able to refill that as fast as they’ve been draining it, with only 0.1 inches of rain. So people drawing water continuously for hours will really lower water pressure and supply. This is unprecedented in the area because people who have lost homes say they’ve been there for decades without incident.
It sickens me that the reporter and her crew did not do everything within their power to help that cat. Leaving some water for it is feeble. My heart breaks for all the poor animals.
Which is why it’s so despicable to see someone like James woods crying about this. Like he loves when people commit a holocaust (it really means completes and total burning) of Gaza, but is crying about having been swimming in his pool and now having nothing? This is devastating for so many and for what it means for the world and beautiful earth. But he and anyone like him deserves this and much worse, right? Almost like on occasion karma is not only swift but bizarrely poetic.
Dana is wearing the Perfect mask for the area. Thank you! Thank you for modeling that!! You sound great and you are most importantly, protecting your lungs!
Every creature of every species must find a home, and the selection of location is the most critical aspect. Second would be the material and construction of the nest. Third is defending the nest. If the first 2 are not sound choices, the third becomes difficult.
@ Ever since the Paradise fire. I saw those drone videos. They even used a drone shot for time magazine. Every home scorched to the concrete, lug nuts melted on vehicles. Trees still standing.
Let’s put it this way…. Even if one or any of the fires were started by a person….. they spread bc of the winds and how horrifically dry the vegetation was. And there not being enough water or water pressure to put any out. This is how wildfires happen.
If you think homeowners who lost their homes won’t be billed for the natural gas “used” from the jets ignited from the remains of the fire you don’t know investor owned California utility companies.
As an LA resident my heart is broken. I know so many people who have lost their homes. We were evacuated by the police, but our house is fine, although it is still under evacuation order. As Californians, we will survive and we will rebuild. Bombing, pollutants, factories everything is adding to deterioration of the environment, and that is why we are here. Because of the greed of a few companies refuse to do sustainable Business Practices and people in denial this is where we are. We are breaking our planet every single day with our insatiable greed. It infuriates me to see the clear path to doing the right thing-shifting to renewable energy, prioritizing sustainability-ignored by corporations that choose profits over the environment. These companies, driven by instant driven small-minded greed, refuse to sacrifice even a fraction of their billions to protect our future. Their actions have ruined the environment, and their refusal to act now will only deepen the damage.
Just Biden, telling everyone it's a good day because he had a great grandchild added to the family. Very helpful and spirit lifting for those devistated by the fires.

@@judithbecker564 I agree. Our country use to be so different.
Kudos to this lady reporter. Very informative and a job well done.
I *_HATE_* this reporter! They left water for a cat that was in distress??! That sickens me. They should have rescued the cat and got it help.
@@Barredeux Yes, they should have rescued the cat. Horrible people.
So heartbreaking to see all those victims crying.. Prayers for rain and support for them...
_"Prayers for rain"??_ LA gets less than an inch of rain _in a month!_ It's the WIND that's the problem.
So sad stay safe stay strong.
Living in FL we have our hurricanes, but nothing scarier than fire.
Climate change has similar ordeals for everyone. It’s just beginning.
We call it weather. 😂😂
Tell that to the snow outside my house

Fire protection is simple and cost effective, we just have a bunch of idiots in Sacramento.
continued prayers for all 🙏🏼
So many challenges for CA yet the state manages to be one of the most productive states in the U.S. This is just devastating.
Because of about 5 tech companies.
California's economy is bigger than most countries.
GUARANTEED ALL HOME INSURERS WILL NEVER COME BACK TO CALIFORNIA
They won’t pay out on this either. Betcha.
Same for Florida
Yes they will. They just pass the costs on to all their other customers.
Home insurance rate hikes will continue to outpace inflation in most areas for as long we continue increasing the concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Absolutely Heartbreaking
Eyes Wide Shut
I thought of that as a comment yesterday but I didn't post it ---- I don't know why I thought of it.

So sorry for all these people.
You have become masters of survival California .. You can do this !!❤
Not true. Some of the mansions are still standing.
Heartbreaking, love for LA😢
Omg i hope the cat is okay
It sickens me that the reporter and her crew did not do everything within their power to help that cat. Leaving some water for it is feeble. My heart breaks for all the poor animals.
This is so sad. Looks like a bombed out image from Gaza. Praying for the safety of all especially the vulnerable.
God give these ppl strength, give LA people some hope 😔🙏🏽
Dana is wearing the Perfect mask for the area. Thank you! Thank you for modeling that!! You sound great and you are most importantly, protecting your lungs!
Every creature of every species must find a home, and the selection of location is the most critical aspect. Second would be the material and construction of the nest. Third is defending the nest. If the first 2 are not sound choices, the third becomes difficult.
Those aren’t wildfires
Thank you.
@ Ever since the Paradise fire. I saw those drone videos. They even used a drone shot for time magazine. Every home scorched to the concrete, lug nuts melted on vehicles. Trees still standing.
Yes they are
Let’s put it this way…. Even if one or any of the fires were started by a person….. they spread bc of the winds and how horrifically dry the vegetation was. And there not being enough water or water pressure to put any out.
This is how wildfires happen.
@@MsNatiBug the hydrants have no water. Insurance companies canceled policies months before. This world isn’t what we thought
Your answers should be: we are alive kids, we have that.
Most of these people have lots of money, but let's watch FEMA jump in to help them recover, not like NC were they are living in tents in snow and ice
Im still thinking about ALL the Black families who consistently went through THIS just for being Black...
naturlal disasters?
If you think homeowners who lost their homes won’t be billed for the natural gas “used” from the jets ignited from the remains of the fire you don’t know investor owned California utility companies.
They need to start accepting bids for 4 to 6 new tanks on every hillside for pressure
I'm so glad the areas affected had fairly low homeless populations. They wouldn't have been able to get out as easy as all these rich folks.
Homeless people can't run?
Remember. Tulsa
True and the other 100+ places
You guys gave tag numbers and house numbers! Why?
Is it possible that an electric car was the root cause of these fires?
i find it suspicious…but the winds were the final nail. i lived in LA for 20 years and this is unimaginable. and looters-predators always waiting.
Santa Ana winds famously dangerous no matter what. This was The Perfect Storm, terrifying
I am so sorry for our loss, by ours, I mean our neighbors' losses, which are my losses. Pray for us. We need it.🙏🏼💔🥺
Reporter Dania is wearing an excellent appropriate respiratory protection. It has HEPA cartridge filters.
Has Trump visited to throw paper towels to those who lost there homes?
@@carolina92861I don't know. It took him a week to respond to New Orleans. He might be out of office by time he realizes it happened
Just Biden, telling everyone it's a good day because he had a great grandchild added to the family. Very helpful and spirit lifting for those devistated by the fires.

Living in an artificial human centric living environment is not positive but rather negative.
I live in California and this is absolutely devastating. I think it's important to mention how despicable trump could only say was to blame it on Newsom ehen he needs to blame things on himself, his MGA/GOP buddies who are climate deniers. The disasters worldwide are more and more severe Because of our climate crisis!

Why is PP continually featured and Altadena not?
How did it start? Arson?

You need to get educated... Budgets are made for these situations It's not like they just printed millions of dollars and sent them over. Geez.
@hoganrozins-mn5vp No idea what your comment has to do with fires in LA.
Don’t get me wrong,, my heart goes out to these people,,,, but where was all the coverage in North Carolina hurricane???? But we’re hearing about celebrity homes burning!!! Smfh!!!!!
Why would we think it wouldn't happen in LA? It's happening in several populated areas now. People are very weird

Why does everything have to be political? You are definitely in a cult.
It has to be political because of mismanagement by Newsom. They were not ready for this and that's what happened.
@@michaelguerrero3684 Do you think it's possible to be ready for this without huge changes? This might be what it takes for building codes to change.

AUSTRALIA stands ready to help. 🇺🇸 🇦🇺.
looks like another land grab to me, like they did in Maui and northern California.
What about the fire risk of Tesla lithium ion electric cars. They burn ferociously and emit highly toxic chemicals, smoke and hazardous particles. Very difficult to extinguish. Contamination of environment is possible.
