The joy of assembler. Global variables can cause all sorts of madness but with assembler every variable is global. That's why 3GL devs try not to use them. I'm amazed someone has created a commented disassembly of this from scratch. It's always great to see a reminder that humans take shortcuts (cutting and pasting from previous works) and make mistakes no matter how smart they are. But there is no safety net with developing in assembler. :)
Glitcho! This glitch turned out to be a little familiar to me as I follow OoT speedruns, so it felt a lot like a combination of power crouch stab and SRM. The devs also forgot to give crouch stabs a default damage value, so it ends up using the one from the previous attack. SRM stands for stale reference manipulation, so like Glitcho it abuses a stale reference in memory to the runner's benefit (to trigger ACE, edit chest contents and stuff).
Hopefully this will encourage the Japanese to be more open with their information. By working as a community, we rediscovered the glitch ourselves and even gained a better understanding of it. Open source and collaboration is the gold standard these days.
Anyway, the bounty was a success despite the naysayers. It encouraged people to look into the glitch more, culminating in its discovery, and helped to bond the community together.
Power Crouch Stab is pretty much exactly what Glitcho is.
@@Patashu The stale reference part is pretty important too. Otherwise it would simply have given another 10 GP or some other enemy's GP value instead of your entire current GP value.

Glad to see this is finally out there! I wonder what kind of fun this'll bring to the game? Hopefully we can see some cool TAS runs that use the glitch or some neat setups that allow it's use in real time consistantly.

Also mgaHituji seemed to be quite excited that someone found the glitch on their own and was even there for the public reveal (this isn't too much of a surprise to me though, considering his history with the glitch)
