the thing that i love about chanel is the ability of transforming every season by using iconic things such as tweed or the great elaboration with the fabric. This collection showed the art and the beauty of Chanel. Great Job Karl!

I was not too crazy about this show. While there were some incredible, if stereotypical, references to American culture, some of the looks, especially the stone washed denim with the white/cream ruffles were not so elegant and certainly not Chanel. The evening looks with the star shaped spangles & sequins were well done and most of all, wearable. The "Cherokee bride" in white was ghastly- it should have been a gown, or a skirt & top. Still, this show as the other Metiers d'Art shows are about technique & fine craftsmanship. Karl did not disappoint entirely.

😯57 years prior to this very same time the real life Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel visited Dallas, Texas the same way Karl Lagerfeld/CHANEL visit Dallas, Texas. I'm a Dallas, Texas native and, I'm so mad I missed this show had I known this happen I would have flown back to Dallas from Los Angeles, CA just to see this fashion show. After all these decades that have come and gone I have one question to the house of Chanel....Why don't you make a men's fashion line? Men were walking in this very same fashion show as the women wearing men's Chanel clothing.🤷♂It was also nice to see Dallas native supermodels walking this fashion show. It was superbly well done...the iconic fashion designer Karl Lagefeld gone but, never forgotten.
This man & his team are absolutely brilliant. Every collection moves me from the depths of my soul. Always fresh yet historically innovative. To work with him one day in some form would be a dream. Chanel & Karl Lagerfeld are icon......

Some pieces were too tawdry, but there were some very nice ideas, that saved the show from being a costume party.. Fortunately the music made it harmonic and very interesting through this mysterious touch..

There were some really beautiful pieces in the show. especially near the beginning. However it felt more like Santa Fe New Mexico to me than the Big "D". Unfortunately at the end it got a little too Bob Mackie for my taste. I was half expecting Cher to come out and sing "Half Breed". But as I said there were some real gems scattered throughout.
Why didn't Cher come out and sing Half Breed, why, why, why ???????? Bob Mackie ? Liberace would have been proud of all the glitz !

Very different for anything I thought Chanel would ever do.
The reason they did not stand is because they also found this shows theme offensive and stereotypical...
But Texas does have Cowboys and there is a lot of small towns that still dress like so yeah. The only thing was the Indian headpieces. :-(
+Axel Balsan But the show is call "The Paris-Dallas 2013/14 Métiers d'Art show" They hosted this at Dallas Fair Park, which is located in the middle of a dare I say, Black community. Dallas in general is a money driven metropolitan city. We don't ride horses and wear burlap. It doesn't matter what the small towns way out in the middle of nowhere are doing. Yes, Texas has Cowboys, but the only ones we care about in Dallas play on a football field... If the city of Dallas was so far behind in the fashion world they would not have hosted this show. We are the home of Neiman Marcus so we know what high end is. This show is offensive. Plain and simple. They should have come to the city and done some real research. This isn't the 1800's for God's sake.
+Michelle “eyez open” Grant Have you seen Karl's other métier d'art shows ? I know what Dallas is about, I know Austin, Paris, Etc. I'm from Texas as well, so I know my Texas history. I personally loved the show because it gives us that whimsical play on of Texas all around and not just Dallas. Because then what would be the whole point of having something that doesn't represent Texas as a whole ? Just like the Moscou show, the Dubai show, Bombay etc.
+Axel Balsan my comment wasn't racist... If I wanted to make it racist I could've easily brought up the fact that he did not include other minorities that we have in Texas. We have a serious Mexican, Black, and Asian culture here and they have all contributed to Texas history in some sort of way, but they were not included (if you want to go racial, which is truly childish). All I'm saying is there a lot more to Texas than Cowboys and Indians. I like Chanel, I even like Karl's work most of the time, but this was not his best work. My opinion. I am entitled to it just as you are entitled to yours dear.

I will say this collection is one of the most PURE in ESSENCE of the spirit of CHANEL... the collection is representing the ethnic group of Native Americans , and you assume this is too far removed from the posh,classic, and modest refinement of the iconic suit and pearls which means you have misunderstood the rebellious spirit of Mademoiselle and the true joy of costume design that gave her the will to live her life after much tragic loss, and also the friendships she found in the people within the world of theatrical production and dance performance all paving the way to bringing CHANEL into the circle of the wealthy and influential society which eventually leads her into world wide stardom!
