Bridge Skip is possibly the very first large skip ever discovered for a video game. I would classify it as a multi boss skip or final area bypass. This strategy has existed for 30 plus years and has barely changed in the last decade and a half. Absolutely amazing.
It’s amazing how the first run was able to work smoothly with no issues, then the any% had everything go wrong with getting the run to work.
Gotta love the "First try!" at the timer at 39:12
The audio is a bit quiet on this one, really had to boost up volume to hear it
Came to say the same thing, their last several uploads have been the same way and even with my bluetooth speaker I can't hear them at all at work
i would say it's very quiet
Always nice to see DwangoAC and TASbot show up at a GDQ event. Always a good time.
Are all the vods for GDQX really quite for anyone else? i have my volume maxed in browser AND on my headset and its barely normal sounding.
Tasbot is _adorable!_ i need to give it a hug
Also, quote from Gamechamp3000: ""Metroid for Nintendo Entertainment System" for Nintendo Entertainment System is programmed on duct tape."
All the videos of the Express are so quiet... really blast your ears out if anything autoplays after.
TASBot Tourian is always a wonderful thing to behold.
Always like me some Metroid content, thanks guys!
Pretty cool, always love the TAS runs.
Love the energy Brossentia brought to this! Shows that you don't always need all experts on the couch.
Loved Metroid as a kid, but could never beat it. All the illusion walls and fake death pits had me trapped in the main overworld area for years.
1st run: Metroid all items
2nd run: Metroid all errors
This made me laugh, heh - yeah, I had some really bad luck there that second time, I saw things I hadn't even seen in practice even though we knew there was a chance it could fail if I inserted the cartridge wrong
Always love to see TASBot.
Favourite part of any GDQ event!
Let's go TASBot!
The extra energy tanks were probably there to refill before mother brain. I save the one in brinstar that you need the long jump for refill before coming to Tourian. The two ice beams though, I only knew the one as a kid only knew the one in norfair.
Being low on health at all times is just the normal Metroid NES experience
So many missed opportunities to call door warps "dorps."
There's SO MUCH SWAG going on in this TAS that I'm surprised @DwangoAC wasn't pointing it out!
7:35 He just said we should be able to see the controller inputs? Where is it? I'm not seeing a controller display on the screen. Is it cut off, like on the side or part of the chat replay or something?
Awesome run! Plz normalize volume though... this video is -26.6 dB and should be more like ... -1. So it's hard to hear even at full volume.
Nice run, and very interesting tidbit about uninitialized memory. (It's hard to believe that isn't a bug. One of the most basic things software developers are supposed to learn is to _always_ initialize variables, unless there's some really good reason that can't be done (shared memory controlled by the OS, or memory-mapped I/O, for example). Not doing so is a huge source of bugs and security vulnerabilities.)
Also, I just love how accurate TH-cam is about what game is being featured. /s
Great job by the couch/chairs :P Love this game, fun watching it get destroyed
"why are there two ice beams"
because the ice beam and wave beam replace eachother instead of stacking or being selectable once obtained and you all but require the ice beam for Norfair; if you got the first ice beam then the wave beam, the other ice beam exists so you're not screwed
the powerups do not respawn if you get the other one, and IIRC it even remembers in your password
Very epic
Ho hell yeah!!!
Nothing like watching Skynet beat Metroid.
I'm a simple man. I see TASBot, I click
Is it just me, or is the audio awfully quiet?
wasn't expecting the run to start with nes gore
This vod is very quiet.
Woohoo more tasbot
Doesn't the low health beep costs cpu cycles and frames?
Yes... but also no.
Actual NES hardware assigns audio and video to two different processors, and the audio processing unit (APU), does not suffer the same performance penalty, for reasons that can't really be explained briefly here.
The Tl:Dr is that, no, audio can't cause lag.
Mega Man 2's best track is Wily zones 1 & 2
Audio is extremely quiet
why is this video so quiet with my volume at max
Why is it so quiet? Other than that, cool vid.
yep, or some reason, it got uploaded very quite
if you look at "stats for nerds" you will see the DB is at "content loudness -26.5dB" when a normal video is about -5dB to +0dB
Volume is very low.
Tasbot is always a delight❤️
TASbot? Metroid? Well that’s an automatic click from me.
These uploads are super quiet
wily castle 1 best mm 2 music
Classic TAS; all the right kinds of broken 😄
...though some of these strats are outdated
The video is so quiet :(
Beat it with R.O.B. the robot or the TAS time shouldn’t count. :)
Because Metroid for the Nintendo entertainment system was programmed using duct tape!
Notice me, TASBot-senpai
It's ok I don't think anyone knows the same of the enemies
35:05 - Oh yeah, Samus and Peach both are natural brunettes. They both dye their hair.
Edit: Also, first, somehow.
video way to quiet
Am I first?!?! Tasbot is king!
Hmmmm
First!! 😅
First!
First
first???
I could do that
I had to skim the video to make sure this wasn't one of those 'this is totally a tas of the game guys, oh no we're really playing tetris and talking to the audience in real time you can totally do this yourselves players with precision inputs' runs.
Hi! It sounds like you don't like ACE runs, and that's okay. In all recent events we've been upfront about ACE content, and we've also been doing runs like this that are just normal TAS runs with commentary. We'll be doing Super Metroid this way in January, so have no fear tuning in. There's a lot of folks with a lot of different tastes out there, and that's fine - my goal is to provide a variety of entertaining TAS content for charitable causes.
@@dwangoACI on the other hand LOVE these vids, it’s amazing to see what the community can do to really push the boundaries thank to ACE and being creative with these limits - something that only a TAS can deliver! And, to me personally, it fits perfectly into the spirit of GDQ just as well!
In any way, thank you so so much for your work and am really happy to see the wide variety of TAS represented on the GDQ as well, I’m so looking forward to AGDQ 24 ☺️
@@dwangoACwhat is ace?
TAS at GDQ just feels wrong, still cool though
