Just a note about the market: it does not open at 6 a.m.. It generally is open at 8 a.m. but during the week more inside vendors are open around 8:30-9. Friday market seems earlier as more local farmers ring the building. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Steve! Thank you for your lovely comment. Yes, it's a couple of months later and Lee is totally fine. He was gargling salt water to help with his sore throat, which really helped. Those summer bugs can be such a pain! We hope you have a wonderful time in Tomar in October as it is such a great town 😀😁 ~ Mandy
That's so lovely, thank you, Jacqui. Tomar was such a wonderful surprise - we were blown away by the Convento do Cristo, and the many free museums! It's an amazing place to visit! 😀😁 ~ Mandy
That's so lovely, Priyanka, thank you! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the video... I wish the market footage had worked out a bit better, but I know to change a few things for next time 👍😀 Évora was so beautiful and I really hope you enjoy the videos! Thank you for taking the time to comment! ~ Mandy 😀😁
Hi Mandy (hope Lee is fine now)... Thank you for sharing your day. It is going to be fun seeing the movie and remembering these bits :) *Lee to the rescue. I rented a house when I was in Atouguia but visited a friend renting an apt in Lagos. Those automatic lights in the hall took a bit of getting use to.
Hello Jen! Yes, thank you, Lee's fine now... he is actually in the pool at PdR as today has been a glorious day! 🌞 I was so thankful that he was upstairs, as the same thing with the key had actually happened to us a few days earlier, but luckily one of the residents was just leaving and let us in! He said it happens a lot, especially with the afternoon sun, but we forgot to tell the owner Those automatic lights were quite disconcerting... you were left in total darkness if you didn't move fast enough 😁😀 ~ Mandy
Very nice video about Tomar. I hope Lee felt better and took advantage of the town. I wonder if you are still headinf for Evora: it's also a wonderful city with lots of monuments and nice places to find out. Cheers.
Hello Luis! Thank you for your lovely comment. Lee felt pretty rough for a couple of days but was feeling much better by our last day in Tomar, so we were able to head for Évora. We loved Tomar and are disappointed we lost a few days sightseeing due to whatever the bug was, but I hope I managed to show what a lovely town it is. Évora is gorgeous as well... videos coming soon ! 😀😁 ~ Mandy
Great video Mandy, sorry Lee missed out. Proud of you for finishing all that wine at lunch lol. Definitely taken note of pica pau , will visit there also next year. Pork alentejo one of my very favourites too.
Thank you, Cindy! I'm so disappointed we didn't get to try your recommendation or to have a drink in the park across the river, as we both got sick in Tomar, but with very different symptoms! If we ever go back we will definitely try your all time favourite dish! It was a difficult job but I managed to finish the wine... lovely and sparkling and fresh tasting that it was, so perfect for a sunny day! We hope you have a wonderful time in Tomar next year, and hope to hear all about it! Have a great weekend, and big hugs from Praia d'el Rei ! 😀😁🇵🇹 ~ Mandy
Hope you’re feeling better Lee. Got to love how you still manage to keep a smile on your face even when you’re not well. Mandy, the market looked fantastic! And that door is tricky. I think had had a similar door I was having trouble with the other day. I had to turn the key all the way and push at the same time. 🤷🏼♂️
Hello Elisa and David! Thank you for your lovely comment. It was a rough couple of days at the end of our Tomar trip, but Lee bounced back and was fine to head down to Évora, our next destination. The market was excellent, I just wish I'd carried the GoPro in my hand the whole time as most of the footage was unusable 😳 Sorry to hear about your experience with a dodgy door... it can be so frustrating! I hope this finds you all well, and we're looking forward to watching your Turkey videos! ~ Mandy 😀😁
As ever a great video. And that's what I love about Portugal a decent meal and wine for under €10. In London that would just be enough for a greasy Big Whopper meal
Thank you so much, Yomi! We're so pleased you enjoyed this video. Portugal is definitely excellent value when it comes to eating out... and there's always at least one great value restaurant in every town. It's one of the many reasons why we love this beautiful country! 😀😁🇵🇹 ~ Mandy
You two are real "YT troopers"! Despite Lee looking like he really needed to be left alone and your being less than comfortable doing the filming on your own you had the "show must go on" attitude, and you both did it with a smile. Major kudos to you both 👍 That meal for 9EU was a lot, probably enough for we two, for your money. Well done Also, was that an airbnb place, or otherwise? Is there a Portuguese alternative to airbnb?
Thank you for your lovely comment, Mac Cat. We really appreciate you taking the time to write, and I love the "YT Troopers" name 😀 There was so much more to see in Tomar, but I'm pleased that I managed to get to the market and have another wander round, and of course have my tasty menu do dia at Pica Pau Amarelo. We stayed at Templar Secrets House, an excellent guesthouse that we found on Booking dot com. It was slightly out of town, but was great value for money. I'd definitely stay there again! Thank you again for taking the time to comment! ~ Mandy 😀😁
If you like Tomar you must be there in the special holyday they have - festa dos tabuleiros I think it´s called. If I recall correctly it´s only done every four years
Hello Ricardo! Thank you for the great advice. We mention the festa dos tabuleiros in one of the other Tomar videos... it must be an incredible event! I think the next one is June 2023! Thank you very much for taking the time to comment! ~ Mandy 😀😁
I agree, Ryan. There are some brilliant words that aren't used enough... one of my favourites is popinjay, so I was super happy to hear it used on a TV show recently! I'll have to think of more slightly obscure words to throw into our videos 😀😁 ~ Mandy
Brilliant vid, Mandy. Loved your commentary, all the clips and snaps. My favorite tag-along of Tomar of all i've viewed. Very brave of you to film solo. Hope both of you are well whereever you currently are. 🤗 Oh, as it's near the end of July (but May as of this vlog), would you show/comment in your next episodes how you are finding relief and keeping cool in the extreme heat 🥵? Your tips on how to avoid over-heating (in our covid era no less) would be good to be aware of i think.
Ruth, that is so incredibly kind, thank you! I actually struggled so much with this video, so am really pleased that you enjoyed the finished product! We are both well and happy at our wonderful housesit in Praia d'el Rei. Re: your question about finding relief from the heat... it's definitely called the Silver Coast for a reason! The hottest it's been was 35C, but it's normally around 21C and grey every day! Super exciting... and you are the first person I've told... my Ma and Gazza arrive from New Zealand on Monday night! I'll be filming loads about our travels in Portugal in August, and will definitely share some heat-avoidance tips then! Thank you again for your lovely comment, Ruth. Your very kind words mean so much! ~ Mandy 😀🙏❤
Nothin worse been hit by a bug just need a good tonic Lee 🥃, how you finding the gopro mandy got your head around settings lol, great solo vid mandy, Smash the LIKE Drop a COMMENT N SUBSCRIBE 😎👍
It was a nasty bug, revolt7... and completely at the wrong time as we were having so much fun exploring beautiful Tomar 😢 I am still struggling with the GoPro... took so much sneaky footage of my feet, so had to walk around a second time! I think I'll change the setting to Wide Angle next time and see if that's any better. I don't know how other vloggers do it... we just don't have the chutzpah to boldly walk around filming as hate being told off 🤣😂 Thank you for your lovely comment... they are always GOLD! 💛🥇🌟💰🏆 ~ Mandy
Ahh pity the rucksack strap idea didn't work. I guess you kind of need to be intentional about what you're shooting. I've found the same thing. I tried a head mount in the past but it didn't really work out either.
Yes, it was a failure 😳😢 I couldn't face going all around the outdoor market again as well, so didn't have any useable clips from that section. Looking back, I think maybe I should have changed the setting from narrow to wide angle as that might make it big difference. I'd wondered what it would be like using a head mount, so it's interesting to hear about your experience. I like your supermarket clips as you do them so well! ~ Mandy 😀😁
Lee was so ill for two days... at one stage his eyes rolled back and he lost consciousness... I freaked out but had to stay calm, and called his name, telling him to breathe deeply. It took a minute but he came round and regained colour, but it's the most afraid I've ever been. ~ Mandy
@@PlanetImo It was so scary. Lee's the one with the first aid training, so I was a bit lost as to what to do, but thankfully it was a very brief, if terrifying incident 😳🙏 ~ Mandy
I'm so pleased you noticed that, Aimee, as that really caught my eye 😁 It's a pet shop as well, remember... but I'm so pleased someone else sees the obscure things I do 😁😀 ~ Mandy

Muito agradecida por mostrar a minha bonita cidade de Tomar ao 🌍
É um prazer mostrar Tomar ao mundo porque nós gostamos muito do nosso tempo lá. Que cidade linda! 😍
Hope Lee is feeling better! Thanks for the video. My wife and are staying a few days in Tomar in October. Looks like a nice place to visit!

Thanks for a lovely video around Tomar, Mandy. I’m sorry Lee wasn’t well. But he was still smiling 😊 Can’t wait to see Evora!

Sinceros parabéns pelo ótimo trabalho que estão dando a conhecer Portugal ao mundo. Fui a tomar una vez eu não vi nada.

😂 The fake roses!
They honestly and seriously blew my mind! We're all about reality, not glamour, so these roses were crazy!
The peacock in the cage was a bit of a surprise.
It was a surprise to me too... I was so taken aback! ~ Mandy
