    Your channel has seriously inspired me! I'm gonna go out this weekend to try and find some neat rocks. Using your tips I found my first agate the other day and the feeling when I realized it was agate was so exciting! Hope you find some great rocks this season, Thomas!

    Nice finds,, the fibrous crystal formations of the bigamite are exactly like fiberous malachite , in the way it plays with light ,
    Another excellent video, thank you Thomas

      I think it’s tied with Mary Ellen jasper for my favorite rock to find around here. Apparently miners used to smuggle really nice pieces of it back in their lunchboxes.

      It’s actually a fibrous form of chalcedony(agate material). I’ve seen pictures of it where some of it actually has little agate bands in it! My goal now is to find a piece like that!

    * Perfect sizes to Tumble. Will make wonderful Jewelry.. Thanks for Sharing.. The tiny one at the 3:15 mark seems too small to tumble. Could you just facet it ? ? The chatoyancy of the red in the rock at the 4:51 mark is Fabulous..

    • @99Rockhounding
      @99Rockhounding  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have a way to facet anything at the moment, but I usually have pretty good luck tumbling the small ones like that.

    Those rocks are so gorgeous! I feel like their unbelievable flash and color cannot be captured on camera. Which makes me a little sad, but maybe people will be intrigued enough to find some in person to get the full effect. It would be super awesome if you did a giveaway for some, but I can understand not having the time or money to spend on that. I've only seen it in a rock shop on the Northshore.

    • @99Rockhounding
      @99Rockhounding  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I might do a giveaway sometime in the future(no promises though). I think the video where I show off the tumbled stuff does a pretty good job at showing the flash, but still not quite as good as in person.

    Hey there, if you get this, any chance for directions to some of the tailings piles? I'd thought I might find them using google maps but with stuff grown over now it's hard to see where to go. I'm hoping to check it out in mid April. Thanks so much! I really enjoy your videos.

    When looking for Binghamite does it help to use a spray bottle to make it easier to spot? Or does it jump out at a person?

    • @99Rockhounding

    Are the other rocks iron or iron ore?

    • @99Rockhounding
      @99Rockhounding  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a mix of everything. You can find pieces of pure iron minerals. The binghamite is a mix of iron and chalcedony(the stuff agates is made of).
