People advocating for end of wildlife tourism, don't understand the concept of Incentive in conservation effort. If there is no incentive for wildlife its very hard to save it. And if you end safaris then what is the other option? Trophy hunting?? i can't even imagine the level of controversy will errupt against it. So safaris are the sweetspot.
Compare for example the condition of tiger vs grey wolf in india. Both are magnificent, intelligent animals, both are apex predators in their own habitat. But tiger has better PR, more tourism value on it compared to wolves. This is the reason why wolves have a bleak future in india.
People's bad manners and lack of awareness can't be blamed on wildlife tourism.

Very nice and educative talk Vivekji, I am in total agreement with your views and conclusions.. Jungle safaries not only bring revenues to the forest departments and which in turn is ploughed back into the forests for their betterment, but also make general public aware of the beauty of the forests and its denizens and the invisible impact they exert on the entire ecosystem. To conclude I would like to stress on the need to strictly regulate traffic in the forest and to make it mandatory for a department jeep with forest officials to accompany each safari in different zones of the forest to preempt any daredevilry by the drivers and guides under pressure of the recalcitrant and malingering tourists to prevent provoked charge or attack by any of the cornered predatory beast.

Vivek bhai abhi recently renkhikhaal , phuri gharwal me bhi 2 tigers ne bahut kohraam macha rakha hai.. Ek old masterji, phir ek lady aur 2 din pehle ek 22 years old boy ko uss ke ghar ke pass hi kill kara hai.. Bhai waha villags me night cerfew bhi laga hai... So plz share some complete information about the incidents,, wk tiger captured bji ho chuka hai, but one is still on the regular paroll on the roads of that area...

रामनगर वन प्रभाग के अंतर्गत सीतावनी पर्यटन जोन में पर्यटक डे सफारी करते हैं। बुधवार को भी सुबह की पाली में पर्यटक सीतावनी सफारी के लिए गए थे। इसी बीच एक जिप्सी चालक पर्यटकों को लेकर सीतावनी जोन से पहले ही लोनिवि की सड़क किनारे झाड़ी में बाघिन को देखकर रुक गया। पर्यटक बाघिन की वीडियो बनाने लगा। पर्यटकों को सामने से न हटता देख बाघिन झाड़ी से बाहर निकलकर पर्यटकों पर झपट गई।
चालक ने जिप्सी भगा दी। बाघिन कुछ दूर तक जिप्सी के पीछे भी भागी। इस दौरान लापरवाह चालक फिर जिप्सी बैक करके बाघिन वाली जगह पर ले आया। बाघिन हमले के मूड में थी यदि जिप्सी की स्पीड हल्की होती तो वह छलांग लगाकर पर्यटक पर हमला कर देती।
वायरल वीडियो डीएफओ कुंदन कुमार को भी भेजी गई। इसके बाद टेड़ा वन चौकी के गेट पर जिप्सी नंबर चिन्हित किया गया। उसके चालक के खिलाफ भी केस दर्ज किया है। जिप्सी को ब्लैक लिस्ट की कार्रवाई की जा रही है।
कुछ दिनों से उस क्षेत्र में बाघिन बच्चों के साथ दिखाई दे रही है। जिप्सी का पता लगा लिया है। जिप्सी स्वामी व उसके चालक वन्य जीव संरक्षण अधिनियम के तहत केस किया गया है। जिप्सी को भी सीतावनी जोन में हमेशा के लिए प्रतिबंधित कर रहे हैं। कुंदन कुमार, डीएफओ रामनगर वन प्रभाग
