It’s amazing how many people missed the significance of this scene. Mr Wilford sent Alexandra because he believed Melanie would be leading Snowpiercer and used her daughter as a way on the train. Knowing Melanie would not cause a war or cut of ‘Alice’ (other train) with her daughter on it. Mr Wilford saved Alexandra 7 years ago only to use her as leverage to get on the train. But now that Melanie is not in charge and not there, it won’t be a smooth handover for Mr Wilford. Neither train has any idea of what life is on the other side but seeing Alexandra’s appearance/ condition demonstrates the conditions on Alice are not great, compared to Mr Wilfords appearance in the trailer, it seems Melanie was right, Mr Wilford is keeping all the resources for himself.
I think Wilfred originally kept her around as a hostage to keep Melanie under a tight leash, but he did not expect her to sacrifice her for the train. Now that he has caught up to Snow Piercer he's probably hoping to use her as leverage against Melanie once again.

Yes but what we got was much better. We knew Wilford was alive and showing him would have been cool but nothing more. Seeing Alexandra makes the ending so much bigger and makes us want to see the next season really bad. I think this was a perfect ending.
I love the Wilford Industries logo motif that goes on throughout the first season leading up to this moment. The entire time we get to see it as a W to represent the illusion that the train is Wilford's creation and that the train has been under Wilford's control, just as most passengers believed the entirety of the first season. Then this scene happens where the W suddenly switches to an M. This goes to reiterate the newfound discovery to passengers that Melanie is the mastermind behind creating and controlling Snowpiercer. What little illusion of Wilford's godlike power is gone now. It is clear Snowpiercer was and has been Melanie's train this whole time.
All modern TV shows are 10 to 12 episodes standard. In the 90s and 00s shows were long to fill slots. But also had so many filler episodes where not much would happen, think lost or battlestar galactica. Shows that still keep to this model grow boring (the walking dead)

Walking dead is boring because zombies have grown boring and its not Scifi. If they leaned into scifi and military, it would be interesting. Filler episodes are kinda critical to a story. Otherwise you get action fatigued and high stakes fatigued.

Chicago is were the train stsrted years ago. It was addressed that they were going through the yard again and had ti slow. Thats when it was Big Alice was notified of the revolt and called in to meet.
If they said that Melanie had been put to death what would have happened? Would they be frozen because of their decision to kill Melanie? What would have happened after the train was stopped in that case? Would they have been allowed to start their engine again?
Why is everyone hating on this series so much saying that the movie is "SO AMAZING" and there's no point in this even being made. As much as I love the movie the ending was both devastating and disappointing I mean not only the train was destroyed killing thousands but the only two survivors were who have no way to survive without food and water, no resources, and the fact that there are predators makes it more terrible
