I appreciate people teaching others about Mugen. I've been messing with Mugen for about 10 years now and am learning more about cns files and messing with palettes. @@DavidzRR playing really depends on what characters you download, I would say. Also whether or not they have actual AI backed into the main folder. I don't fully understand coding and tech stuff like that but definitely see if a character has an AI before downloading, and as a personal recommendation- check any comments on sites for the character. A lot of time people can help out by saying what's bad or good about a character. And a lot of the time, how you're game's gonna work, in my opinion, can be based solely on your roster. I also recommend the Mugen archives website if you haven't already visited!

Each character is made a bit differently so the controlls might end up being different, check if that specific dio has a notepad in his folder that shows moveset
I'm just bad at doing specials, yes something as simple as activating a special is difficult for me, its either I press the buttons to fast or too slow
Yeah you need to master the timing But you're most likely doing it too fast rather than too slow, after awhile your fingers get used to it and you automatically will do it 100% correct, just need to practice your fingers
For controller it's usually defult to pause/options I suggest going into settings into input and choosing what button you want to represent the s command
If you go into the options and change controlls you'll realise a b c x y z s Are not keyboard buttons, these are the command names, like when you play with an xbox controller You can decide which button on your keyboard represents which command
No it's one after another For example DFa Means Down and then forward and then a function button But you need to press one after another pretty fast but not too fast
When you choose the controls in the options you choose what button you want to be pressed for actions that are down up forward backward abcxyz and s Default s is usually enter on your keyboard
Are JUS characters more fun to play in MUGEN than regular characters? Trying to figure out if I should just sprinkle some JUS characters in my MUGEN here and there, or just put in nothing but JUS characters. I like some combo complexity and not just button spamming.
yeah they are fun, although you can button spam, most jus characters allow you to do complex combos if you know what your doing, similar to fighterz where yes you can spam but on an advanced level you will do more complex inputs, i do suggest having a screenpack made out of jus only characters

you need to press down and then forward/back and then a/b/c one comes after the other in order and you need to do it pretty quickly if it's still not working then the question is are you using JUS type characters

Whos cpu if I might ask I'd recommend combining a and b combos, maybe trying to launch the opponent if possible into the air and jumping for some air combos, but again it depends on the character you're using

it probably has to do with the character not having a DFc special, or the timing of the input isn't correct idk, do let me know if it's a character exclusive problem or it happens with DBc as well
