    So that's how you do it. I've beem folding the whole thing with paper that's like thin construction paper, then mold it after wetting it quite a bit from the faucet. It turned out well in spite of my stupid technique.

    Thanks Alexander for this video, i have searched EVERYWHERE for a tutorial for papers. This helped me learn more about wet-folding! :).
    But today i was looking for info about Tissue papers, and how you can treat it with MC glue. I saw your video about how you treat MC glue with other papers, but you didn't do it with tissue papers. Can you maybe make a video about tissue papers, and sandwich papers?
    I'm sorry that i ask a lot! don't feel obligated to make a video about it!
    Thanks!

      Nathan Buis You're welcome, Nathan. I have never made my own double tissue or treated tissue paper. But my friend Damian is very good at it and you can find a tutorial by him here: How to make double tissue paper - TUTORIAL I hope that helps ;) If not please write again.

      quietmarverick Thanks :). I have another question: Where do you get your MC glue? i can't find it anywhere in the Netherlands, and when i searched on internet, i didn't know wich one was good and wich one was bad. Can you maybe give a website where you buy it? or the website from the shop where you buy it?
      Thanks! :)

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey. I buy this one: www.amazon.de/METYLAN-NORMAL-APETEN-K-125GR-MK40/dp/B000QB2ZXI/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1408257560&sr=8-9&keywords=tapetenkleister I'm not sure what name it has in netherland. In germany it's imprtant that there is written "normal" on it. Because it's without chemicals I think. You should look at amazon or on shops where you can by wallpapers. ;)

      Do you think that this is the same? There's standing: 'For normal and heavy wallpapers'

    I just didn't get how you dry fold and then wet shape.Isn't it hard to get the paper wet after you already folded it that much?do you soak it with a cloth too?and I would also like too know if I could try wet folding with a tissue foil.

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can Cebeci I use the spray bottle to make it wet at the end. But I don't wetten the whole model but only a part... shape it and than I wetten the next part and so on. You can also do this with a cloth corner wich is a bit more wet than I showed in the video. Which kind of tissue foil to you mean? The self made or the one by Nicolas Terrys origami-shop? However both are not good for wet folding.

    • @cancebeci127
      @cancebeci127 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      quietmarverick I meant the one from the origami shop but I didn't know it was different than a self made one.Anyway,thank you for your reply

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can Cebeci Okay. Yes there is a huge different between this papers. Self made paper has a complete aluminiumfoil layer between two layers tissue paper. You can shape it very much better than the "tissue foil" by Nicolas Terry. And you don't need water or glue to shape self made tissue foil because of the foil layer in it.

      +TheGaurdianSeesYou Yes that's it. Most often the people wetten the paper too much. I made the same mistake when I started wet folding.

    Is elephant hide paper, really made from elephants? Or is it just named that?! I don't think I'd want to do that if it really is from elephants.

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tom Cat Of course it's NOT made from elephants ;) It's called like that because it's very strong paper. You can wetten it often and it will not tear that easy.

      @KillaryKlinton 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok! I just wanted to make sure! lol

    Thanks for the video. What type of paper is best for wet fold? What gs is ideal for making good creases but also holding shape? Thanks

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As I told in the video it depends on what you like to fold. Do you fold a model with less folds or with many folds. Dou you fold with big size or small size. Do you fold with curves or do you fold geometric. There is not ONE PERFECT paper for wetfolding ;)

  • @gghelis
    @gghelis 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have 200gs watercolor paper but I don't get how you can possibly fold anything even a bit complex with it. I mean, it lets you fold it when it's wet, but you can't make sharp creases anyway, besides the model gets ridiculously thick pretty soon, so it becomes almost impossible to make a crease through multiple layers. Is such paper suitable only for simple models?

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes paper with 200gsm is only for models with very less folds. Only 1-4 layers. Maybe 6 or 8 layers if you use very large paper for huge model. If you like to fold simple model you can use 100gsm watercolor paper. For intermediate models you can use elephant hide which is also about 100gsm but very different to watercolor paper. For wet folded intermediate to complex models I recommend to use about 30-80gsm wet folding papers like Tant, biotope paper, multilayered chinese papers etc. May I ask which model you like to fold. Maybe I can help you with the paper.

    • @gghelis
      @gghelis 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for an answer. I didn't have any particular model in mind, just tried to get my hands on wet-folding and see how it feels. I started with rather simple models (like Edwin Corrie's dragon for example), they work out fine but I saw that the problem would arouse with more complex ones. I tried to make Satoshi's Pegasus (which I folded dry from "kami paper" before) but it quickly became impossible to continue. My current goal is Satoshi's Cerberus and Phoenix 3.5, so I'm looking at tissue foil maybe. If go with wet-folding, then I think elephant hide will do, but these models are too complex for me to wet-fold since I don't have any experience with wet-folding.

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      gghelis Ah okay. For models like Kamiyas phoenix and cerberus I recommend to use double tissue paper. I wouldn't wetfold those complex models. You can wet shape them at the end. They have so much folds which have to be perfect so that all is nice at the end. And with wet folding you always lose a bit accuracy. Tissuefoil is also good paper for phoenix. Sure welt folding is a nice thing but not good for everything. So you should try wet folding with easy models first and fold complex models with other papers because there are also very much cool dry folding papers.

    • @gghelis
      @gghelis 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      By double tissue you mean I have to glue to sheets of tisuue paper together? Or is this some special kind of paper?
      My problem is all these tricky papers are not sold in my city, they are hard to find in my country, so I have to order them online in stores like origami-shop. I ordered tissue foil because it is the only type I have some idea about. Ordering all other types, like unryuu, washi, lokta, elephant hide etc. is like hit and miss, pretty risky.

    • @quietmarverick
      @quietmarverick  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      gghelis For double tissue look at this video: th-cam.com/video/vUBENLeJSmw/w-d-xo.html yes it's only gluing two layers tissue together and it's really great paper for complex models. You can shape it with water or mc glue at the end. And you really don'T need expensive special papers from those shops. Sure some of them are really good but you can fold with self made papers very very very nice too. The self made tissue foil is much better than that from origami shop. If you can buy foil in your country (that one you use in your kitchen) you should make your own tissue foil: th-cam.com/video/gzLx6KFdenc/w-d-xo.html.
